Posterior Ankle Impingement Essay
Posterior Ankle Impingement and Posterior Process With Rehab
Posterior ankle impingement is a condition that causes ankle pain and swelling at the back of the
ankle where the back of the shin bone (tibia) meets the top bone of the ankle (talus). It can happen
when soft tissue gets caught between these bones. Some people have an abnormal bone growth on
the back of the talus (os trigonum or posterior process). This can also become enlarged or swollen
and painful.
This condition is common in athletes who forcefully and repeatedly bend their foot downward
(plantar flexion) or push off their foot forcefully.
CAUSES
This condition can result from athletic activities that require you to get up on your toes or push off
your feet forcefully. These movements cause the back of the tibia and the top of the talus to come
together. Over time, this can cause swelling and irritation (inflammation).
RISK FACTORS
This condition is more likely to develop in:
People who have an os trigonum.
People who participate in certain sports, including:
○ Ballet dancing.
○ Track and field throwing sports, such as javelin and shot put.
○ Trail running or cross country.
○ Soccer.
○ Football.
○ Gymnastics.
SYMPTOMS
Symptoms of this condition include:
Pain behind the ankle that gets worse with plantar flexion.
Swelling at the back of the ankle.
Pain when pushing on the back of the ankle (tenderness).
Ankle stiffness.
DIAGNOSIS
This condition may be

Narrative Essay Strength
Once I failed, but now I am showing my strengths. There was this high school I played played for
named Central Dauphin. They were called the Rams. Before I go on, I am going to fast forward to
the end of Junior year and to the beginning of my Senior year. It was a game against Carlisle
Thundering Herd. The game was cold and it was the first game of playoffs. I did not start at the time
but our starting tackle got hurt so I had been thrown in there. Now take in mind my body is ice cold
and my muscles are not stretched. I then remember getting tackled from behind and feeling some
popping noises in my ankle. I was laying there afraid my football career was over. Mind you that
this was now my second ankle injury of that year. A few teammates had ... Show more content on

At the end of the first half someone had dove into the side of knee. I had fallen over and felt the
worst pain I had ever felt in my life. I am laying there and say to myself, "I will not stay down and
give up on myself." Halftime comes along and Coach Doc pulls me to the side and said, "you are
done for the night." I told him to his face, "I will not be taken out as this is my last year to shine.
Nothing will stand in my way." So I finish the game and come to find out I had sprained my knee
bad. Once again I will not have nothing come in front of me this year. Our biggest game of perhaps
the whole year was against the Wilson Bulldogs. This was a game I was going to war for my
brothers that I love deeply. Second play of this game I get blindsided and my knee buckles. I felt
that pain but said no to it and got right back up and played the rest of the game. I had played a great
game and we had handed them their worst loss in many years. The moral of my story is to never
give up on yourself and the others around you just because things are not going your way. If you
give it some time they will eventually fall into your hand and then it is up to you if you want to take

The Injury Of A Knee Injury
There are many 206 bones in the human body, but three main bones that make up our ankle. The
three main bones that make up our ankle are the tibia, which is the shinbone, the fibula, which is the
smaller bone on the leg, and the talus, which is a small bone that sits between the calcaneus, the
tibia, and the fibula. The inside part of the tibia is called the medial malleolus. The back part of the
tibia is called the posterior malleolus. The end of the fibula is called the lateral malleolus. There are
two main joints in the ankle. One of the joints is the ankle joint. The ankle joint is where the tibia,
fibula, and talus meet. The other main joint is called the syndesmosis joint. This is the joint that is
between the tibia and fibula. When an ankle does not heal correctly, it is called a nonunion.
There are many ways to cause an ankle injury. Twisting or rolling an ankle can create ankle injuries.
Tripping over something or falling down can also cause ankle injuries. There are many ways to tell
if an ankle is broken. These symptoms are severe pain, swelling, colored bruising, unable to put any
weight on it, or dislocation. If someone has these symptoms, they should go see a physician. "The
incidence of ankle fractures is approximately 187 fractures per 100,000 people each year" (U.S.
National Library of Medicine). There are approximately seven billion people on this planet. On
average, there are 13,090,000 ankle fractures every year. There are many different types of ankle

The Benefits Of Yog Yoga
Try These 8 Yoga Poses and You'll never feel Back Pain again We spent most of our day sitting in
our offices, for so many hours, that the chair starts to grow on us. It's true, we have so much to do
during the day that by the time we finish work, we forget that we've been sitting the whole day and
it's time to stretch those muscles. However, most of you haven't got the energy nor the will to get out
of bed and stretch. But, what if I told you that you will only need eight minutes in your day and that
those precious eight minutes will not only improve your posture, but those eight minutes can truly
improve your overall health. Stretching doesn't look so bad after all, besides what are eight minutes
compared to permanent health benefits and relieved back pain. ... Show more content on

Not only will it keep your body in shape, but it will also relax you and free your mind and spirit.
Many people are replacing regular gym sessions with evening yoga exercising, because your whole
body will benefit from it, not only your muscles. However, if you are one of those people, whose
jobs are only and strictly connected with sitting in front of a computer, then you've probably have
had back pain and stiffness in your whole body. This is perfectly normal since you aren't doing
anything active, however if you aren't doing anything extra to shake those muscles up, many
complications can occur as a result to your inactiveness including, tight hips and therefore problems
with immobility and back pain. Farewell to back pain, farewell to stiff body and farewell to tight
hips, yoga will help you get rid of those problems and the only thing you need to do is find a yoga
mat, have a positive approach and take several minutes of your time. The following yoga poses will

Biomechanical Functions In Football
Within this task I studied the sport that I most enjoy both playing and watching, football, and what
Biomechanical principles are implemented when striking a football.
Looking at the skeletal images below of the five movement phases when approaching and striking
the ball you can already start to envisage the Biomechanical principles that are included within the
body when participating in football. Movement Phases

2 The backswing
3 Support foot plant
4 Foot–ball contact
5 Follow through
Image from, The kicking action (Lees & Nolan, 1998) The biomechanical principles that influence a
soccer player's ability to achieve a maximal velocity instep kick include.
– Angular Velocity of the lower limbs
– Coefficient of restitution
– Ground reaction force Angular Velocity of the lower limbs
The angular velocity begins at the support foot plant phase and continues into the follow–through
phase. For a player to achieve a maximal velocity instep kick, this is one of the main biomechanical
principles to focus on improving, as the greater the velocity of the kicking leg, the greater the power.
The kicking leg is modelled as a three link kinetic chain composed by the segmental forces of the
thigh, shank and foot, where angular velocities are measured (Nunome, Asai, Ikegami & Sakurai,
2002). The kicking leg's forward motion is initiated by the rotation of the pelvis, and the thigh of the
kicking leg being brought forwards with

Hook Plate Fixation Case Study
In this study, the hook plate fixation was a good option for the treatment of Herscovici type A and B
fractures because of the good and excellent outcome in all the patients: high union rate and no major
complications were observed during follow–up. No hardware removal due to irritation from the
plate was needed. The mean union time was similar to those reported previously [8, 14–15] in which
hook plate were used to repair fractures efficiently and reported limited discomfort. In our study,
those patients did not report any pain or discomfort at the surgical site probably since hook plate has
a curve at the distal of malleolus medialis. It maybe decreases the risk of hardware prominence and
soft tissue irritation.
In the current study surgical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (AO–ASIF) recommends that If the
fractures are small avulsions, then the tension band method is considered, K–wire tension bands also
is not easy to keep the stabilization of the small avulsions fractures. Biomechanical studies assessing
the strength and durability of different types of hardware placement have previously determined that
neutralization plates provide a significant amount of ''mechanical advantage'' over only using screws
for certain fracture patterns [8]. Fixation was achieved in our study with the hook plate.
Furthermore, there is less postoperative irritation of the deltoid ligament from the hook which may
be associated with its curve and deep. This likely reduces the possibility of subsequent injury to the

Is Running A Natural Form Of Human Locomotion?
Of the many skills incorporated in the study of Biomechanics, there is one that is the center focus to
most individuals. This skill that I am referring to is known as running. This skill is where I will be
focusing my attention as I express the intricate methods that correspond to running. Running is
known as a natural form of human locomotion and continues to be a popular participating sport,
however many develop various gait related injuries due to it. It is common for many to see running
as a simple activity. However, running is a complex sport that requires attention and technique with
the lower extremities such as your legs, hips, knees and ankles. Throughout this paper I will be
discussing and evaluating the alternative explanations that correspond with gait related injuries. For
my self personally, among many other reasons I enjoy running because on days where I am stressed
from school, work or just personal events it is a way for me to escape the daily pressures of life and
enjoy some fresh air while relieve some steam. Running takes work and requires some training,
however it is one of the best methods on relieving stress and staying motivated. It is a great way to
get exercise and you can do it anytime, anywhere without any equipment. Although running is
tedious and can be exhausting it is a great way to better ones self and to help stay in shape.

Evaluation Of A Patient Post Medial Knee Ligament...
II. Description of Analysis
A. Purpose
The purpose of this analysis is to evaluate a program of therapy designed to return to ambulation a
patient post–lateral ankle ligament reconstruction. The components of the anatomical analysis–
joints and actions, muscles, types of contractions, biomechanics, neuromuscular considerations, and
safety– will help to further understanding so that a program of therapy will be properly and correctly
administered to an individual recovering from a lateral ankle ligament reconstruction surgery.
B. Classification This therapy program is designed to increase the strength of the calf and foot
muscles thereby allowing the patient to give impetus to his or her own body supported by a
stationary surface such as the floor.
C. Description After undergoing surgery to reconstruct the lateral collateral ankle ligaments, the
patient's lower leg, ankle, and foot will be immobilized in a cast for six weeks. The patient will be
touchdown weight bearing around 2–5 days post–surgery (Sherry, 2014). Upon removal of the cast,
he or she is ready to begin the therapy program. The program is centered on enhancing the mobility
of the talocrural and subtalar joints by strengthening the flexor and extensor muscles of the lower
leg and foot (Moore, 2016). Treatment will progress in difficulty through three therapeutic exercises.
Each therapeutic exercise will consist of three phases: the preparatory phase, the force phase, and
the recovery phase. This slow gradual

My First Year Of Life Essay
I was born on September 29th 1994 in San Buenaventura, Mexico. A small town that would remain
foreign to me until the age of 21. My mom's and dad's relationship was complicated and structured
on the submissive/dominant dynamic most Mexican families have. My dad illegally came to the
United States around my second year of life. My mom followed him by obtaining a work visa. She
followed him blindly as she was so in love and so lost without him. My mom left me behind but sent
for me a few weeks later. I entered as someone else. My uncle and aunt had a baby around the same
age as me and genetics made my cousin and I look similar enough that boarder patrol didn't question
my identity any further. I left behind faint memories of my people and the place that raised me. In
the Unites States my family united and we welcomed my little brother, Daniel into the world. Daniel
became my dad's pride and my mom's prince and I became the dutiful daughter and sister. Since I
was brought to the United States at the age of two I grew up believing I was a born and raised
American. I grew pride in this country and I felt proud to call this place my home. I was basically
raised as an American with Mexican influences coming only from my family. Even though I am
Mexican I became more influenced by American culture. I was an avid reader and many of the
stories I read where about blue eye girls with blonde hair and their perfect families. I grew up
influenced by these stories and I desperately wanted

My Family Vacation
"The best things in life are the people we love and the places we've been.... And the memories we've
made along the way." by Unknown. The year of 2017 started off terrible, nothing was going right. A
few months later something amazing happened, but only with help from God. My family found out
we won a trip to Hawaii. My parents had to decide whether or not they should take us kids with. My
parents talked it through, and they decided that it would be our last family vacation with just our
family saying Chris is a senior and is headed off to college the next year and probably will find a
girlfriend. Us kids were happy to go after everything bad that has happened to us. I know for sure
Hawaii made me look at life a different way. Saying everything that just happened to my family.
"Life is like the ocean, it goes up and down." By Vanessa Paradis. To start off the year on new–
year's day I was in a snowmobile accident and was taken to the hospital. There I got x–rayed and
examined and they said nothing was wrong, just internal bruising, and a high ankle sprain, so I got
put into a walking boot and started physical therapy. A few weeks later still couldn't put weight on it
and so I went back to the doctor and he took more x–rays and said it looked good. There was
nothing he saw when he was examining it, he said just keep icing it. Three days later, my mom gets

Syndesmotic Ankle Sprains: A Case Study
Treatment for Syndesmotic ankle sprains appears to be based on clinical experience and there is a
lack of evidence based studies on this topic (Williams, Jones and Amendola, 2007; Williams and
Allen, 2010). Williams, Jones and Amendola (2007) evaluated 3 articles on syndesmotic sprains and
suggested the following treatment structure: 1st phase is an acute phase, in which the primary goals
are protection of the injured joint and minimization of the inflammatory response, including pain
control. 2nd phase is a subacute phase, in which the goals are to restore mobility, strength, and
function in basic tasks such as ambulating with a normal gait pattern. 3rd phase include advanced
training, directed at preparing the athlete for return

Why Nhs ( National Health Service ) Organisations Need...
NHS has undergone many changes since its inception in 1948 and it has become a cliché to say that
only thing which is constant in the NHS is change. There are many drivers of these changes–the
external and internal, the patient led, the policy led and also the changes driven by politics
(Buchanan et al, 2013) and finances (DOH, 2010). This essay will critically analyse models of
change and how they are relevant to my organisation (NHS). This essay will also critically evaluate
human dimensions of change and how they impact on success and implementation of organisational
change.
Why NHS (National Health Service) Organisations Need Change?
Usually a need to change a service is identified, based on feed–back from staff or patients, though
there are numerous examples in the NHS when the managers or ministers (Darzi, 2008, Francis
2013) were forced to take decisions because of critical incidents or massive failure noted by an
external review of an NHS Trust (Francis, 2013, Berwick, 2013). Lord Darzi's (2008) NHS Next
Stage Review described a model of clinician led change leadership in the NHS (The King Fund,
2011), by doing so Lord Darzi aspired to provide frontline staff with greater freedom to make
positive changes to deliver best quality of care.
In a multilayered and complex organisation like NHS usually big changes are driven by national
level policies or enquiries (Simon, 1979). For example Francis (2013) indicated that there were
massive failures of leadership and

The Effects Of Sports Injuries On Sports
All around the world, people are participating in sports for various reasons, such as for their
personal interest, health and fitness, and many more. However, injuries in sports which can result in
pain, loss of playing time, as well as medical expenditure can occur too often. In the more serious
cases, the injuries may result in fractures of bones, which in turns cause limitation in the mobility,
resulting in permanent cease of attendance in sports, and in limited extreme cases even death. For
professional sports player, absence of a game due to unfortunate injuries may result in huge
economic losses. As a result of these undesired events, scientists and medical professions are
constantly on the lookout of new and improved ways to prevent and reduce the possibilities of sports
injuries (Fong, Hong, Chan, Yung, & Chan, 2007). Injuries to the ankle are one of the most common
injuries occurring in sports. The ankle joint may become unstable following an ankle sprain, and
normally it requires a long time before it can be restore to its full potential. The management and
prevention of the injuries become the crucial parts during the recovery process.
Information concerning a medical condition will be more effective for a patient when the
information is presented in a way in which individuals are easily accessible and comprehensible.
The type of information provided should ideally be detailed and specific about the topic being

Scan, Modify, 3D Print: Revolutionizing the AFO
Problem Statement
Last summer, I started an internship with Shriners Hospital for Children in their Motion Analysis
Lab. During my internship there, I realized that many children could not afford to wait the three
months necessary for standard ankle braces. In addition, many poorer families struggle to afford
such expensive devices. My goal for this invention is to develop a feasible and medically accepted
system in which a 3D scan of the patient's foot will be manipulated on the computer to create a
custom, 3D–printed brace. This innovative new process, combining the new technologies of 3D
scanning and 3D printing, will result in an orthotic that can be produced quickly and inexpensively.
Research & Background
The Ankle
The ankle is an incredibly complex component of the skeletomuscular system. The ankle–foot
complex must provide both stability and mobility. It is responsible for providing a stable base of
support for the body (stability), but must be flexible enough to absorb the body's weight during gait
(mobility).
The talocrural joint, or ankle joint, is formed by the articulation of the talus with the tibia and fibula.
The talus's shape allows 3 planes of motion: dorsiflexion/plantarflexion, inversion/eversion, and
pronation/supination. The purpose of an AFO (Ankle–Foot Orthotic) is to stabilize the talocrural
joint.
Orthoses
Orthoses (plural form of "orthotic") refer to a broad group of medical devices that support,
immobilize, or treat muscles, joints or skeletal

Physical Injuries Of A Prophylactic Ankle Brace
One of the most common injuries that is relatively seen in all sports, especially in basketball and
volleyball, is an acute ankle injury that accounts for about 10 to 25 percent of all injuries. Of all
these injuries that occur, almost ¾ of them are related to the lateral structures in our ankle. The most
common and minor form of these injuries is a lateral ankle sprain, which is caused by an inversion
stress to the joint of the ankle. When someone happens to sprain their ankle, the usual preventive
measures by athletic trainers and sports doctors are taken into action such as ankle taping, using of
an ankle brace, strengthening of the ankle, and therapy. Of all these, a prophylactic ankle brace is
often chosen to help reduce the chance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the factors known to cause these abnormal movements in the joints of the lower extremity is
the use of a prophylactic ankle brace. One doctor was able to discover that using an ankle brace
during athletic performance did not increase the risk of injury. Our research showed that knee
biomechanics known to be risk factors for ACL injury did not appear to be negatively impacted by
wearing a lace–up ankle brace. (Aerni, Giselle, 2012). If athletes wear prophylactic ankle braces
during athletic activities, then they are more likely to be subjected to knee injuries. The study will
analyze the effect that prophylactic ankle braces cause to the joints of the knee and determining if it
increases the stress placed on them. The primary function of a prophylactic ankle that is being used
is to put a restriction on the inversion range of motion it usually has, since it is where most injuries
occur in an ankle sprain. What people don't know is that it also decreases your overall performance,
total range of motion, and other kinematics as well. When a player is jumping and landing, the use
of an ankle brace significantly reduces the amount of internal and external rotation you have in your
ankle. So, when the rotation of the subtalar joint in the transverse plane is reduced, your leg and foot
aren't able to

Catabolism In Soccer
The Virtues of Injury Catabolism and anabolism. The first breaks down; the second builds back up.
If I were a molecule, soccer would be a catalyst for my body. Soccer has broken me down and built
me back up several times over. Soccer has taken away bits and pieces of me, and it has replaced my
perspective on the world in exchange. Although I share a love/hate relationship with the sport, I am
grateful to have soccer in my life; it has helped guide and mold me into a better person. Injuries are
usually not something to be grateful for, but I love mine. From the earliest days of playing soccer,

As a smaller player on the field, most of the time my ankles were getting assaulted by kids one–
and–a–half times my size. Fortunately, two consecutive years included a nasty ankle injury for me.
Thanks to other players, soccer had the opportunity to reteach me. The first injury occurred between
eighth and ninth grade, right before I moved up to high school soccer. I was playing indoor soccer
between outdoor seasons, since my friends from school made a team, and during one fateful game, I
jumped to head the ball before an opposing player could and ended up drawing the short end of the
stick in the ordeal. I was successful in reaching the ball first, but he decided to push me just before I
landed, causing me to plant my right foot improperly on the ground and place my full weight on the
side of my foot. There was an immediate pop. It felt as if my foot detached and I was standing on
the bare nub of my ankle. There was blinding pain, yet no pain at all. Just pin–pricks of blood
flowing furiously. Before anyone could ask why I was limping, I was off the field and icing my
ankle. After a late night visit to the emergency room when the swelling continued to grow and I
could no longer put any pressure on my foot, it was discovered that I had a high ankle sprain. The
doctors ordered me to wear an air–cast for the following two to three months with a strict ban on
running, along with minimal walking to get to class only – patience is a virtue. However, the
following season I managed to hurt the same ankle all over again during practice. While going to
shoot the ball, I had the unfortunate circumstance of a defender trying to clear the ball at the same
moment. Our feet hit the ball at the exact same time, and the earth–shattering force of contact left
both of us on the ground holding our ankles as the pain throbbed each time blood pumped through
our injured veins. At this point, I

Growth Plate Injury Research Paper
5 of the Most Painful Growth Plate Injures Affecting Young Athletes
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently reported that more than 2 million children
are treated each year for sports– and recreation–related injuries. Sports participation provides many
benefits for younger athletes, but unfortunately, injuries do occur. This means doctors have to treat
these injuries differently than they do for adults.
Why? Children and adolescents have growth plates, which are the areas of soft tissue near the ends
of the long bones in their arms and legs. Because these are the last portion of the bones that harden
(ossify), they are particularly vulnerable to injury. For instance, the same type of accident that might
cause an adult to have an ankle sprain can be a growth plate fracture in a child.
How long does this last? Girls' growth plates usually harden or ossify wen they're around ages 13 to
15 years old, while boys' growth plates harden later, at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your child's treatment will depend on how severe the growth plate injury is and the vast majority of
kids do recover without any long–term consequences. Many of these injuries are minor which
means that doctors will usually suggest that they limit their activities and not bear any weight on the
affected limb. Most of the time this can be accomplished by wearing a cast, splint or brace over the
area to prevent any movement. In these cases, this may be the only treatment necessary but with
fractures, immediate care is extremely important. This is so that Doctors can:
Provide immobilization using a cast or splint
Use manipulation or surgery to unite the bones into the correct position; which can depend on where
and how serious the injury is and, the patient's age
Use strengthening and range–of–motion exercises to improve movement, but only after the fracture
heals
Incorporate a long–term follow–up plan; including x–rays, to monitor your child's growth and

Comparison between kinetic and kinematic response for barefoot vs shod foot running
Introduction
Running has changed the course of human time frame and its importance, within time people have
costumed to routine involving running. Research has led to believe that our ancestors mastered how
to run in need for scavenging, hunting for food; throughout time biomechanics of running changed
our anatomy by evolution (Lieberman,2004). Bramble (2004) states that humans have both strength
in running but weak in sprinting within evolution" High speed is not important". Running shoes
have evolved to improve and support performance, it is known that during the middle Palaeolithic
years shoes were worn at about 40,000 years ago.

It was predicted that landing plantarflexed ankle during barefoot would create short stride lengths,
whereas with shod showed a significant difference at the ankle joint when landing at dorsiflex angle
where the stride length would be greater (Gallozzi, 2009).
In spite of the investigation between barefoot and shod running, there has not been any exact answer
to which running mechanics is best to improvement athletes. The study is based on the difference
between barefoot and shod running biomechanics within peak breaking force, ground, contact time,
ankle angle and peak breaking force.
Method
Participants

sports. Ages (20.3 ± 1.7 years), height (1.76m ± 0.7m) and body mass (75.1kg ± 12.9kg) of these
participants were recorded from the study beforehand. The participants whom took part would have
to fill out a written consent form alongside a written PAR–Q form and have to be injury free, before
taking part during the study.
Procedure

Safeguarding in Health and Social Care Organisations
Task 1A 1.1/1.2
I am a Care worker in a Health and Social Care setting also having worked at Stafford Hospital
where service users have been abused. I have been invited to a yearly health and social care
conference as a guest speaker and this this year's theme is 'Recognising abuse and self–Harm in
service users'. This report is for the participants to recognise and realise the abuse that has happened
or may be happening to service users in Health and Social Care.
Stafford Hospitals unimaginable failing were published after having one of the most heart breaking
news in the history of the NHS. Below I have briefly summarised and researched the time line of
Stafford Hospital.
February 2008– Mid Staffordshire NHS trust that runs Stafford Hospital and Cannock hospital was
awarded a foundation trust status.
May 2008– The health care Commissions perform an investigation due to having high death rates at
the trust
April 2009– The (CQC) Care Quality Commission takes the matter in to their own hands from the

Effective Strength And Conditioning Program For An Injured...
Despite an effective strength and conditioning program that helps prevent injuries, young athletes
will still get hurt. When injuries do occur, a coach must know the proper treatment steps because he
or she has a legal duty to provide immediate emergency care for an injured athlete. In this regard,
the coach must administer the first aid or he or she must make sure a medical provider such as an
athletic trainer provides the proper treatment. Furthermore, a coach must understand the subsequent
rehabilitation involved that will successfully return the injured athlete to full participation. Because
ankle sprains are the most common basketball injury, this chapter will discuss the treatment plan
considerations.
The initial objective with an ankle sprain is to control swelling that includes protection, rest, ice,
compression, and evaluation (P.R.I.C.E) treatment. The P.R.I.C.E treatment plan involves 1)
protecting the ankle with braces, wraps, or crutches, 2) resting the ankle by not doing activities that
cause pain, 3) icing the ankle for 20 minutes and off for 60 minutes throughout the first 48 hours
after the injury, compressing the ankle with a wrap, 4) elevating the ankle at or above the heart.
After the initial treatment, there are three primary modalities available to treat an ankle injury:
surgery, conservative treat with cast immobilization, and functional treatment. Studies have found
functional treatment as the best modality to treat Grade 1 and 2 ankle injuries

How The Ball With Your Foot
Introduction
In America it is called soccer, but in the rest of the world it is called football. This sport consists of a
ball being kicked with feet with the intent of getting the ball into the goal. The faster the ball moves,
the less time the goalie has to prevent a goal from being scored. If the ball is kicked directly at the
goalie with incredible speed, the ball will be deflected and not go into the goal. Occasionally a
player must direct the ball around many additional players to get a free shot which can be a lot of
hard work. Sometimes though, a player gets a free shot. This uninhibited shot doesn't necessarily
mean free points though. Most shots that score have a rapid velocity and are very accurate. There are
two main ways of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The approach includes the steps before the foot plant. This article found that the greater distance the
step is up to 1.6m the more powerful the kick will be. The biomechanical purpose of this phase is to
generate power by increasing momentum. The contact phase occurs after the opposite foot has been
planted and is the "beginning the forward motion of the kicking leg onto the impact on the ball"
(What... 2014). During this phase the flexion of the knee in the kicking leg increases to cause an
overall deceleration of the player but an increase in acceleration of the kicking leg to generate more
velocity. The follow through phase is where contact is made and the kicking leg comes closer to the
elbow on the same side of the body as the kicking leg. The leg essentially completes the path it
began in the forward swing of the kick. The article goes on to mention the main biomechanical
principles that influence a player's ability to achieve maximum velocity. They are the angular
velocity of the lower limbs, coefficient of restitution, and ground reaction force. In the research
article "Three–dimensional kinetic analysis of side–foot and instep soccer kicks" by Hiroyuki
Nunome, Takeshi Asai, Yasuo Ikegami, and Shinji Sakurai, they found "The average ball velocities
of the side–foot and instep kicks were 23.4 +/– 1.7 m·s–1 and 28.0 +/– 2.1 m·s–1, respectively"
(Nunome 2002). This showed how the instep kick was

Ankle Sprain Essay
An Ankle Sprain of a Female Colligate Basketball Player
Objective: To introduce a case study about a mild ankle sprain.
Background: The most common way to sprain an ankle in basketball is to step on someone else's
foot, or to plant and to turn the wrong way.
Differential Diagnosis: Could be an injury to the deltoid ligament, CF, or the ATF ligament.
Treatment: Ice, High volt, Theraband, Towel scrunches, Towel stretches, Whirlpool
Conclusion: Rehab will help her get her strength back in her ankle as long she continues to work
hard.
Keywords: Ankle sprain, High volt, Medial and Lateral Malleolus
Objective The ankle joint is the most commonly injured part of the lower leg. It happens from an
unusual twisting action ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done when the foot is inverted most of the time. This happens when the foot is awkwardly
planted or is stepped upon during activities. Stepping in a surface that is irregular, such as in an
athletic event when one player steps on another player foot a sprain can result.
Background A twenty–one year old female, basketball player experienced an ankle sprain by
accidentally stepping on another player's foot. The player was going up to make a shot landed on the
opponents foot when she came back down, which made her ankle invert. The head athletic trainer
evaluated her then taped her ankle to provide support and keep the swelling to a minimum at that
time, so the player could return to play. Immediately after the game, the player's ankle was iced
down to control the swelling and was receiving NSAID's to help with the pain or discomfort she was
feeling. The player was referred to the team physician for x–rays and MRI to help rule out fractures.
Treatment was started to help relieving the swelling and pain.
Treatment In the first couple of days of rehab, she received high volt, and ice to help with the
swelling she also did ankle pumps that also help with moving out the inflammation. As each day
went by, towel scrunches, towel stretches were performed as three set each. Compression pumps
were administered for 15 minutes several times a week, rhythmic stabilization, and aquatic
therapeutic exercises were added as she

Physical Therapy for a Sprained Ankle
Treatment of a sprained ankle as a physical therapist
This essay is going to talk about the work, salary and educational requirements of physical therapist.
We're also going to talk about the ankle and its anatomy, the sprained ankle and how to cure it. The
main topic is going to be how a physical therapist is involved in the curing and rehabilitating a
sprained ankle.
My name is Jasper Kuester and I'm a Physical Therapist, which are commonly known as
physiotherapists. The general work of Physical therapists consists of recognizing injuries, help
people to recover after fractures, sprains, strains etc. and educate the patient and his/her family about
the progress of recovery etc. In the progress of recovery you use techniques like stretching, hands on
therapy and exercises to improve the mobility and movement of the joints. To become a Physical
Therapist you already have to have a bachelor degree. Some colleges require perquisites. Very
common for that is anatomy, biology, physiology, physics and chemistry. You will go to school for
three years until you have your DTP, the "Doctor of Physical Therapy" degree. During these three
years you will take classes such as anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, pharmacology, and
neuroscience. After finishing these three years you may apply for a one year clinical residency
program. This isn't necessary but it gives you an advantage when you want to apply for a job
because Physical Therapists who completed this year are more likely to

A Short Story : A Story?
It was a cold and foggy wednesday morning on june 10th. Hunter was sleeping on his bed when he
heard his mom call him.
"Hunter wake up we're gonna be late!"
"Ok i'm going mom." replied Hunter some what annoyed. He opened his eyes and opened the blinds
to be greeted by the foggy and cloudy sky. Hunter looked at his clock to see he only has 15 minutes
before he becomes late. He got dressed and grabbed his bag filled with clothes and ran down stairs
and saw his clock with only ten minutes left before he's late. He started to eat his food.
"You know you're going to be late, right?" Said his mom scolding him "Yeah I know mom thanks for
reminding me" says Hunter sarcastically
"Your welcome sweetheart, I love you." replied Hunters mom.
After Hunter ate he got up and put his dish in the sink.
"Let's go hunter, i'll meet you in the car! " called his mom.
"OK!" yelled Hunter. He grabbed his bag and ran out the door into his car. He put on his seat belt
and quickly dozed off. Before he knew it he was at the camp.
"Hon it's time for you wake up" called his mom.
" Can i have five minutes ? " replied Hunter.
"Sorry but no you can't " said his Mom.
"Ok bye mom love you" said hunter tiredly. "Bye Hunter love you, see you in a couple of days."
replied his mom.
As Hunter watched as she drove away Hunter thought about how long this camp would take. He

Personal Essay On Overcoming Obstacles
Booker T. Washington once wrote "Successes isn't measured by the position you reach in life. It's
measured by the obstacles you overcome" An obstacle I had to face and overcome would be the time
I injured my ankle. How did I overcome this obstacle you may ask? I overcame this obstacle by
being positive and having a good attitude, almost every step of the way. In the begging of 8th grade
I got a high ankle sprain on my left foot from twisting my ankle on a root. I was running cross
country and The person behind me said "Oh my gosh that looked bad" before I could even say
"ouch". I had to rest on one foot holding a tree. My coach, who luckily heard me, helped me try to
walk, but I couldn't even put my foot on the ground without it throbbing with torment. The part that

When he placed me back down I was able to walk on my ankle, but I was limping like a wounded

foot while placing ice on it. My coach told everyone to run another warmup lap while I was calling
my parents to pick me up not knowing what was actually wrong with my foot. When I got home I
saw that I wasn't even capable of moving my foot. All I felt was agony. I also noticed that my foot
was at an angle. It looked like a sad willow tree. When my mom got home she looked mad at me
like what I did was my fault, that I injured myself. My mom never liked that I did cross country
because of how dangerous it is. So all she wanted to do was verify her point that it was wild. Now

Characteristics Of A Nurse
The Oxford English Dictionary defines a nurse as, "A person trained to care for the sick or infirm,
especially in a hospital." However, this is not my definition of a nurse. My idea of a nurse relates to
a superhero, aiding in the healing of a body. A nurse is a champion who comes into work with
energy, patience, aching feet, stained scrubs with sweat from a strenuous day at work but always a
smile. A nurse goes home 12 hours later from their shift only to remember the extra blanket for Jody
and also that is not sweat on my clothing, it is urine, but a nurse is thrilled that Phil finally went to
restroom after a ten–minute story about 10 cent candies. Not just any person could care for Jody,
who requests three blankets each night or Phil who refuses to utilize the restroom, but a superhero
could, a nurse could. I yearn to be a nurse; to be a superhero. Two exceptional qualities come to
mind when I regard a nurse, kindness and patience. Kindness for Jody, who will wake up in two
hours requesting less blankets because she is too hot, despite the fact this is a repeat of the exact
events from the day before. Patience for Phil for the reason that you told him he should try to visit
the restroom before dinner, but before long and he is explaining how to build a computer. Two
exceptional qualities I claim to express, every time I am on the job. My employment is in a long–
term care facility as a Certified Nursing Assistant, every day is a new adventure; maybe today I can

The Effects Of Pre Trial Release Programs
Pre–Trial Release Programs lets individuals be released prior to trial with conditions. Some of these
conditions are that you have to pay cash, wear an ankle bracelet while being on house arrest, be
alcohol/drug tested, or even be watched/monitored. Pretrial release programs can be denied for
capital offenses. The law allows release on personal recognizance of an unsecured appearance bond.
"Common conditions: commercial surety, cash deposit, property bond, other secured bonds,
supervision and additional requirements". (http://www.ncsl.org/research/civil–and–criminal–
justice/pretrial–release–conditions.aspx) Electronic monitoring is authorized for any defendant
eligible for release. A minimum of 500 dollars bond is required for failure to appear while on pretrial
release. There are several different options that judicial officials have at the disposal when setting a
defendants pretrial release conditions five basic conditions that a judge or magistrate may set, NC
statute lists them in 15A–534(a). There is the first one which is the release on written promise to
appear. This option basically allows the defendant to be released without paying any type of bond,
as long as he promises to appear in court on his written court date. The second option is to release
the defendant upon his execution of an unsecured appearance bond. An unsecured bond is one that is
backed only by the integrity of the defendant. No assets or collateral is required to be posted on this
type of bond. The

Personal Speech On Football
In just about every football game from any age group there is always some sort of peptalk. This is
usually given by the coach to fire up the players and get them ready for the game ahead of them. The
pep talk I got that night will be in my mind for the rest of my life. My Coach always gave us life
lessons that were key not only on the field but off of it as well. He would say things such as "there is
no I in team" and "anything is accomplishable if you work hard enough." He was always inspiring
me with his speeches, but one stuck out the most. This speech was at one of our Thursday night
meetings; we would meet every Thursday to eat supper together as a team, hang out with freinds,
and most importantly get ready for the game on Friday. We would always sit in chairs and listen to
him; Usually ranting on about teamwork and stuff like that but he changed it up. The life lesson he
was teaching us was play like it was your last game.
In his story he talked about a bulldog, and how the owner showed no pity on him. The man would
not let the bulldog ride in the carriage with him, the dog always had to keep up with the man. One
night the man was riding in his carriage and decided to camp the night out. So he stopped and set up
his camp and noticed the dog wasn't around. The man said to his kids "if the bulldog wants to live he
will catch up". The kids were devastated at this and wanted the dog back, but did not testify their
dad's words. The man woke up in the middle of the night to the sounds of growling and vicious
snarling. That's when he heard his bulldog aggressively barking back at the creature. The man didn't
dare go outside to help his dog because he thought the dog had the willpower and strength to fend
for itself. So he heard a long going battle of barking, growling, biting, and whimpering. At about
midnight the fighting noises stopped in a great whimpering noise. He didn't know if the dog was still
alive or not but he went back to sleep. The next day the man and his family woke up and left the tent
to find his bulldog laying in the grass next to a giant grey wolf. The bulldog fought for its life and
won, this is because the wolf thought he had nothing to lose but the bulldog fought for everything he
had. My

Ankle Sprains Overview Essay
PT Rehabilitation Plan
Ankle Sprains Overview
Ankle sprains have three degrees of injury ranging from 1–3. The level of the ankle sprain is
determined by the amount that the ligament is torn or stretched. A grade one sprain is categorized as
a slight stretching and damage to the fibers of the ligament. A grade 2 sprain is characterized as
partial tearing of the ligament and abnormal laxity of the ankle. A grade 3 sprain is characterized by
complete tear of the ligament if it can be pushed or pulled in certain movements there is gross
instability. The movements of the ankle are abduction, adduction, plantar flexion, dorsiflexion, and
inversion, eversion. The ligaments of the ankle hold the ankle bones and joint into position. These ...

After disruption of the CFL, the PTFL inhibits adduction with the ankle in dorsiflexion.
Medial Ligaments: The deltoid ligaments which are the superficial and deep deltoid ligaments. The
greatest mechanical forces across the ankle joint are directed medially in the normal external
rotation of the foot in walking and running. This is reflected in the strength and thickness of the
deltoid ligament. Biomechanically, the deltoid ligament primarily prevents abduction. After division
of both components of the deltoid ligament, anterior instability of the ankle does not increase. Once
the lateral ligaments are cut, the deltoid ligament acts as a secondary restraint against anterior
translation. The fibular ligament primarily inhibits lateral translation of the talus. The deep deltoid
ligament provides the greatest restraint against lateral translation. In order to tilt the talus in valgus
within the mortise, the superficial and deep deltoid ligaments must be completely ruptured.
Syndesmosis ligaments of the ankle refers to the membrane connecting the tibia to the fibula. The 3
ligaments are the anterior tibiofibular ligament, the posterior tibiofibular ligament, and the
interosseous tibiofibular ligament. The most commonly injured ligament in syndesmotic sprains is
the AITF ligament. The movement that is allowed with these ligaments is limited due to their
anatomy that allows little range in eversion. These ligaments play little role in the stability of the
ankle

Preparing For Senior Night, My Last Home Volleyball Game
Preparing for senior night, my last home volleyball game, I found myself sorting through pictures of
my high school years and noticed a recurring theme: a bittersweet memory, my walking boot. As
silly as it may sound, I have derived much of my identity from this boot. When I meet new
classmates, they ask about the status of my injury. "How is your foot? Can you play volleyball
again?" I cannot blame them for noticing my bum ankle. For more than a year (on and off), a bulky,
grey piece of plastic masked the lower half of my leg. For a part of this time, I even rode through the
hallways on a rented medical scooter that my friends affectionately dubbed "Ricky Bobby." This
boot, the thing that once caused me anxiety is now a symbol of my determination. Additionally, it
opened my eyes to the field I want to spend the next chapter of my life pursuing: physical therapy.
The summer before my junior year, I worked harder than I ever had to train for my first varsity
season. Immediately after an intense run, I would go home and ice my ankle to relieve the pain that I
ignored during the workout itself. "Push through;" I would tell myself, "be strong!" I thought that I
was being strong by working through the pain. Sports media always praises the athletes who played
the championship game on a broken foot or a sprained ankle, but you never hear about the kid who
trains through the everlasting two–a–days of preseason and never makes it to the first game. I

Ankle sprains are one of the most common injuries among the pediatric population between the ages
of 10 and 19, especially with an increased participation in recreational and competitive sports.1,2 Of
that pediatric population, females are reported to be more susceptible to ankle injuries than their
male counterparts.1 The reoccurrence rate is of even greater concern being as high as 70% within
the active, adolescent female population.3 Some potential risk factors that may be contributing to an
increased occurrence of ankle sprains among this population are: leg dominance, history of previous

Soccer Injuries For Soccer
Introduction: Soccer is the most popular sport in the entire world. Soccer continues to emerge as a
major sport in countries like United States and even China, while it remains the fastest growing
team sport. The sport's characteristics and its required functional activities demand certain technical
skills and healthy physique from each player. As a result, there are disadvantages of playing the
sport as injuries and medical problems occur. Soccer injuries are a big factor of the sport, that is
really important to address. This report describes the most common types of injuries(Ankle sprains,
Hamstring, Knee), causes of injuries, effects of injuries and prevention/treatment of injuries for
soccer.
Most common types of injuries: First, there are three most common types of soccer injuries, which
are ankle sprains, hamstring and muscle cramps. Ankle sprains are the most common injuries that
occur in the sport. This injury occurs when the foot suddenly twists or rolls, which then forces the
ankle joint to be out of its normal position. As a result, the ligaments around the ankle stretch or tear.
The number of ligaments torn or disrupted determines the degree of the injury. The more ligaments
affected, the worse the injury is. Syndesmosis, also known as "high ankle" injuries, usually occur as
the player is pushed backwardly on another player's planted foot. This type of injury usually needs
2–4 weeks of recovery. In addition, when the "deltoid" ligament is affected in the

An Incident At Johnny A 's Third Rail Pub
This claim arises out of a lawsuit filed in Kane County, Illinois involving an incident at Johnny A's
Third Rail Pub, a local pub owned by the Insured, Beslidheje, Inc. Mr. Tefik Ashiku owns and
operates the Insured corporate entity. The pub operates out of a building owned by the co–defendant,
Junaid Zubairi. Plaintiff's lawsuit alleges negligence against both Beslidheje, Inc. and Zubairi,
claiming that the stairway had insufficient or inoperative lighting at the time she fell.
We have had further discussions with Mr. Ashiku, Mr. Zubairi, and Ms. Kristen Finkensher, the
bartender on duty on the night of the occurrence. Their statements are consistent with the facts stated
in our prior report. In short, on the night of the incident, the City of South Elgin was hosting its
annual festival, Riverfest, near the pub. There were light towers located throughout the festival
grounds, which illuminated the surrounding buildings, including the pub. Plaintiff came into the
pub, ordered one beer and, at some point, left the pub. An unknown patron then alerted Ashiku and
his bartender that Plaintiff had fallen near the bottom of the stairs. Plaintiff refused assistance from
the bartender including an offer to call an ambulance and left in a vehicle driven by her friend. The
lights above the stairs were functional and the village's light towers brightly illuminated the stairs.

Reflective Essay On Faith And Religion
Faith and religion are an uncomfortable topic for most, a treasured topic for some, and incredibly
life–changing for others. My own faith has grown immensely over the years, and it is something that
has been so integral in my growth that I cannot shy away from sharing it in abundance. God has
revealed many things to me, one of which is that when I stop living to glorify myself, and instead
glorify Him with my actions, He will bless that.
It was a Saturday night, in the middle of a cold February. The year was 2011, and I was a sophomore
in high school. My face had been painted in layers of bright blues and greys, my hair under a long,
black wig that reached to my waist. My heart was pounding, just like it did before every
performance. However, it was never stage fright. I loved the feeling of the hot, white spotlight, the
hundreds of children sitting on the edges of their seats. I cherished the feeling of excitement that
welled up in my throat as the overture swelled, the bass vibrating beneath my feet. I was in love
with theater, and I poured my heart and time into every performance we gave. This performance was
no exception. I was in a production of The Chronicles of Narnia– The Lion, The Witch, and The
Wardrobe. After being cast as the female lead– The White Witch– I had spent hours of dedicated
preparation for the part.
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is a beloved tale, but many do not know that it is an
allegory for the beliefs of the Christian faith. As a

Posterior Ankle Impingement Essay

  • 1. Posterior Ankle Impingement Essay Posterior Ankle Impingement and Posterior Process With Rehab Posterior ankle impingement is a condition that causes ankle pain and swelling at the back of the ankle where the back of the shin bone (tibia) meets the top bone of the ankle (talus). It can happen when soft tissue gets caught between these bones. Some people have an abnormal bone growth on the back of the talus (os trigonum or posterior process). This can also become enlarged or swollen and painful. This condition is common in athletes who forcefully and repeatedly bend their foot downward (plantar flexion) or push off their foot forcefully. CAUSES This condition can result from athletic activities that require you to get up on your toes or push off your feet forcefully. These movements cause the back of the tibia and the top of the talus to come together. Over time, this can cause swelling and irritation (inflammation). RISK FACTORS This condition is more likely to develop in: People who have an os trigonum. People who participate in certain sports, including: ○ Ballet dancing. ○ Track and field throwing sports, such as javelin and shot put. ○ Trail running or cross country. ○ Soccer. ○ Football. ○ Gymnastics. SYMPTOMS Symptoms of this condition include: Pain behind the ankle that gets worse with plantar flexion. Swelling at the back of the ankle. Pain when pushing on the back of the ankle (tenderness). Ankle stiffness. DIAGNOSIS This condition may be

  • 4. Narrative Essay Strength Once I failed, but now I am showing my strengths. There was this high school I played played for named Central Dauphin. They were called the Rams. Before I go on, I am going to fast forward to the end of Junior year and to the beginning of my Senior year. It was a game against Carlisle Thundering Herd. The game was cold and it was the first game of playoffs. I did not start at the time but our starting tackle got hurt so I had been thrown in there. Now take in mind my body is ice cold and my muscles are not stretched. I then remember getting tackled from behind and feeling some popping noises in my ankle. I was laying there afraid my football career was over. Mind you that this was now my second ankle injury of that year. A few teammates had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of the first half someone had dove into the side of knee. I had fallen over and felt the worst pain I had ever felt in my life. I am laying there and say to myself, "I will not stay down and give up on myself." Halftime comes along and Coach Doc pulls me to the side and said, "you are done for the night." I told him to his face, "I will not be taken out as this is my last year to shine. Nothing will stand in my way." So I finish the game and come to find out I had sprained my knee bad. Once again I will not have nothing come in front of me this year. Our biggest game of perhaps the whole year was against the Wilson Bulldogs. This was a game I was going to war for my brothers that I love deeply. Second play of this game I get blindsided and my knee buckles. I felt that pain but said no to it and got right back up and played the rest of the game. I had played a great game and we had handed them their worst loss in many years. The moral of my story is to never give up on yourself and the others around you just because things are not going your way. If you give it some time they will eventually fall into your hand and then it is up to you if you want to take them or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Injury Of A Knee Injury There are many 206 bones in the human body, but three main bones that make up our ankle. The three main bones that make up our ankle are the tibia, which is the shinbone, the fibula, which is the smaller bone on the leg, and the talus, which is a small bone that sits between the calcaneus, the tibia, and the fibula. The inside part of the tibia is called the medial malleolus. The back part of the tibia is called the posterior malleolus. The end of the fibula is called the lateral malleolus. There are two main joints in the ankle. One of the joints is the ankle joint. The ankle joint is where the tibia, fibula, and talus meet. The other main joint is called the syndesmosis joint. This is the joint that is between the tibia and fibula. When an ankle does not heal correctly, it is called a nonunion. There are many ways to cause an ankle injury. Twisting or rolling an ankle can create ankle injuries. Tripping over something or falling down can also cause ankle injuries. There are many ways to tell if an ankle is broken. These symptoms are severe pain, swelling, colored bruising, unable to put any weight on it, or dislocation. If someone has these symptoms, they should go see a physician. "The incidence of ankle fractures is approximately 187 fractures per 100,000 people each year" (U.S. National Library of Medicine). There are approximately seven billion people on this planet. On average, there are 13,090,000 ankle fractures every year. There are many different types of ankle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Benefits Of Yog Yoga Try These 8 Yoga Poses and You'll never feel Back Pain again We spent most of our day sitting in our offices, for so many hours, that the chair starts to grow on us. It's true, we have so much to do during the day that by the time we finish work, we forget that we've been sitting the whole day and it's time to stretch those muscles. However, most of you haven't got the energy nor the will to get out of bed and stretch. But, what if I told you that you will only need eight minutes in your day and that those precious eight minutes will not only improve your posture, but those eight minutes can truly improve your overall health. Stretching doesn't look so bad after all, besides what are eight minutes compared to permanent health benefits and relieved back pain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only will it keep your body in shape, but it will also relax you and free your mind and spirit. Many people are replacing regular gym sessions with evening yoga exercising, because your whole body will benefit from it, not only your muscles. However, if you are one of those people, whose jobs are only and strictly connected with sitting in front of a computer, then you've probably have had back pain and stiffness in your whole body. This is perfectly normal since you aren't doing anything active, however if you aren't doing anything extra to shake those muscles up, many complications can occur as a result to your inactiveness including, tight hips and therefore problems with immobility and back pain. Farewell to back pain, farewell to stiff body and farewell to tight hips, yoga will help you get rid of those problems and the only thing you need to do is find a yoga mat, have a positive approach and take several minutes of your time. The following yoga poses will make you achieve all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Biomechanical Functions In Football Within this task I studied the sport that I most enjoy both playing and watching, football, and what Biomechanical principles are implemented when striking a football. Looking at the skeletal images below of the five movement phases when approaching and striking the ball you can already start to envisage the Biomechanical principles that are included within the body when participating in football. Movement Phases 1 The approach 2 The backswing 3 Support foot plant 4 Foot–ball contact 5 Follow through Image from, The kicking action (Lees & Nolan, 1998) The biomechanical principles that influence a soccer player's ability to achieve a maximal velocity instep kick include. – Angular Velocity of the lower limbs – Coefficient of restitution – Ground reaction force Angular Velocity of the lower limbs The angular velocity begins at the support foot plant phase and continues into the follow–through phase. For a player to achieve a maximal velocity instep kick, this is one of the main biomechanical principles to focus on improving, as the greater the velocity of the kicking leg, the greater the power. The kicking leg is modelled as a three link kinetic chain composed by the segmental forces of the thigh, shank and foot, where angular velocities are measured (Nunome, Asai, Ikegami & Sakurai, 2002). The kicking leg's forward motion is initiated by the rotation of the pelvis, and the thigh of the kicking leg being brought forwards with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Hook Plate Fixation Case Study In this study, the hook plate fixation was a good option for the treatment of Herscovici type A and B fractures because of the good and excellent outcome in all the patients: high union rate and no major complications were observed during follow–up. No hardware removal due to irritation from the plate was needed. The mean union time was similar to those reported previously [8, 14–15] in which hook plate were used to repair fractures efficiently and reported limited discomfort. In our study, those patients did not report any pain or discomfort at the surgical site probably since hook plate has a curve at the distal of malleolus medialis. It maybe decreases the risk of hardware prominence and soft tissue irritation. In the current study surgical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Biomechanical studies assessing the strength and durability of different types of hardware placement have previously determined that neutralization plates provide a significant amount of ''mechanical advantage'' over only using screws for certain fracture patterns [8]. Fixation was achieved in our study with the hook plate. Furthermore, there is less postoperative irritation of the deltoid ligament from the hook which may be associated with its curve and deep. • 14. Is Running A Natural Form Of Human Locomotion? Of the many skills incorporated in the study of Biomechanics, there is one that is the center focus to most individuals. This skill that I am referring to is known as running. This skill is where I will be focusing my attention as I express the intricate methods that correspond to running. Running is known as a natural form of human locomotion and continues to be a popular participating sport, however many develop various gait related injuries due to it. It is common for many to see running as a simple activity. However, running is a complex sport that requires attention and technique with the lower extremities such as your legs, hips, knees and ankles. Throughout this paper I will be discussing and evaluating the alternative explanations that correspond with gait related injuries. For my self personally, among many other reasons I enjoy running because on days where I am stressed from school, work or just personal events it is a way for me to escape the daily pressures of life and enjoy some fresh air while relieve some steam. Running takes work and requires some training, however it is one of the best methods on relieving stress and staying motivated. It is a great way to get exercise and you can do it anytime, anywhere without any equipment. Although running is tedious and can be exhausting it is a great way to better ones self and to help stay in shape. • 16. Evaluation Of A Patient Post Medial Knee Ligament... II. Description of Analysis A. Purpose The purpose of this analysis is to evaluate a program of therapy designed to return to ambulation a patient post–lateral ankle ligament reconstruction. The components of the anatomical analysis– joints and actions, muscles, types of contractions, biomechanics, neuromuscular considerations, and safety– will help to further understanding so that a program of therapy will be properly and correctly administered to an individual recovering from a lateral ankle ligament reconstruction surgery. B. Classification This therapy program is designed to increase the strength of the calf and foot muscles thereby allowing the patient to give impetus to his or her own body supported by a stationary surface such as the floor. C. Description After undergoing surgery to reconstruct the lateral collateral ankle ligaments, the patient's lower leg, ankle, and foot will be immobilized in a cast for six weeks. The patient will be touchdown weight bearing around 2–5 days post–surgery (Sherry, 2014). Upon removal of the cast, he or she is ready to begin the therapy program. The program is centered on enhancing the mobility of the talocrural and subtalar joints by strengthening the flexor and extensor muscles of the lower leg and foot (Moore, 2016). Treatment will progress in difficulty through three therapeutic exercises. Each therapeutic exercise will consist of three phases: the preparatory phase, the force phase, and the recovery phase. • 18. My First Year Of Life Essay I was born on September 29th 1994 in San Buenaventura, Mexico. A small town that would remain foreign to me until the age of 21. My mom's and dad's relationship was complicated and structured on the submissive/dominant dynamic most Mexican families have. My dad illegally came to the United States around my second year of life. My mom followed him by obtaining a work visa. She followed him blindly as she was so in love and so lost without him. My mom left me behind but sent for me a few weeks later. I entered as someone else. My uncle and aunt had a baby around the same age as me and genetics made my cousin and I look similar enough that boarder patrol didn't question my identity any further. I left behind faint memories of my people and the place that raised me. In the Unites States my family united and we welcomed my little brother, Daniel into the world. Daniel became my dad's pride and my mom's prince and I became the dutiful daughter and sister. Since I was brought to the United States at the age of two I grew up believing I was a born and raised American. I grew pride in this country and I felt proud to call this place my home. I was basically raised as an American with Mexican influences coming only from my family. Even though I am Mexican I became more influenced by American culture. I was an avid reader and many of the stories I read where about blue eye girls with blonde hair and their perfect families. I grew up influenced by these stories and I desperately wanted ... • 20. My Family Vacation "The best things in life are the people we love and the places we've been.... And the memories we've made along the way." by Unknown. The year of 2017 started off terrible, nothing was going right. A few months later something amazing happened, but only with help from God. My family found out we won a trip to Hawaii. My parents had to decide whether or not they should take us kids with. My parents talked it through, and they decided that it would be our last family vacation with just our family saying Chris is a senior and is headed off to college the next year and probably will find a girlfriend. Us kids were happy to go after everything bad that has happened to us. I know for sure Hawaii made me look at life a different way. Saying everything that just happened to my family. "Life is like the ocean, it goes up and down." By Vanessa Paradis. To start off the year on new– year's day I was in a snowmobile accident and was taken to the hospital. There I got x–rayed and examined and they said nothing was wrong, just internal bruising, and a high ankle sprain, so I got put into a walking boot and started physical therapy. A few weeks later still couldn't put weight on it and so I went back to the doctor and he took more x–rays and said it looked good. There was nothing he saw when he was examining it, he said just keep icing it. Three days later, my mom gets a call saying that my fibula and tibia separate every time I walk and that's why it hurts to walk. So the next step ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Syndesmotic Ankle Sprains: A Case Study Treatment for Syndesmotic ankle sprains appears to be based on clinical experience and there is a lack of evidence based studies on this topic (Williams, Jones and Amendola, 2007; Williams and Allen, 2010). Williams, Jones and Amendola (2007) evaluated 3 articles on syndesmotic sprains and suggested the following treatment structure: 1st phase is an acute phase, in which the primary goals are protection of the injured joint and minimization of the inflammatory response, including pain control. 2nd phase is a subacute phase, in which the goals are to restore mobility, strength, and function in basic tasks such as ambulating with a normal gait pattern. 3rd phase include advanced training, directed at preparing the athlete for return ... • 24. Why Nhs ( National Health Service ) Organisations Need... NHS has undergone many changes since its inception in 1948 and it has become a cliché to say that only thing which is constant in the NHS is change. There are many drivers of these changes–the external and internal, the patient led, the policy led and also the changes driven by politics (Buchanan et al, 2013) and finances (DOH, 2010). This essay will critically analyse models of change and how they are relevant to my organisation (NHS). This essay will also critically evaluate human dimensions of change and how they impact on success and implementation of organisational change. Why NHS (National Health Service) Organisations Need Change? Usually a need to change a service is identified, based on feed–back from staff or patients, though there are numerous examples in the NHS when the managers or ministers (Darzi, 2008, Francis 2013) were forced to take decisions because of critical incidents or massive failure noted by an external review of an NHS Trust (Francis, 2013, Berwick, 2013). Lord Darzi's (2008) NHS Next Stage Review described a model of clinician led change leadership in the NHS (The King Fund, 2011), by doing so Lord Darzi aspired to provide frontline staff with greater freedom to make positive changes to deliver best quality of care. In a multilayered and complex organisation like NHS usually big changes are driven by national level policies or enquiries (Simon, 1979). For example Francis (2013) indicated that there were massive failures of leadership and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. The Effects Of Sports Injuries On Sports All around the world, people are participating in sports for various reasons, such as for their personal interest, health and fitness, and many more. However, injuries in sports which can result in pain, loss of playing time, as well as medical expenditure can occur too often. In the more serious cases, the injuries may result in fractures of bones, which in turns cause limitation in the mobility, resulting in permanent cease of attendance in sports, and in limited extreme cases even death. For professional sports player, absence of a game due to unfortunate injuries may result in huge economic losses. As a result of these undesired events, scientists and medical professions are constantly on the lookout of new and improved ways to prevent and reduce the possibilities of sports injuries (Fong, Hong, Chan, Yung, & Chan, 2007). Injuries to the ankle are one of the most common injuries occurring in sports. The ankle joint may become unstable following an ankle sprain, and normally it requires a long time before it can be restore to its full potential. The management and prevention of the injuries become the crucial parts during the recovery process. Information concerning a medical condition will be more effective for a patient when the information is presented in a way in which individuals are easily accessible and comprehensible. The type of information provided should ideally be detailed and specific about the topic being discussed (van Zuuren, Grypdonck, Crevits, Walle, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Scan, Modify, 3D Print: Revolutionizing the AFO Problem Statement Last summer, I started an internship with Shriners Hospital for Children in their Motion Analysis Lab. During my internship there, I realized that many children could not afford to wait the three months necessary for standard ankle braces. In addition, many poorer families struggle to afford such expensive devices. My goal for this invention is to develop a feasible and medically accepted system in which a 3D scan of the patient's foot will be manipulated on the computer to create a custom, 3D–printed brace. This innovative new process, combining the new technologies of 3D scanning and 3D printing, will result in an orthotic that can be produced quickly and inexpensively. Research & Background The Ankle The ankle is an incredibly complex component of the skeletomuscular system. The ankle–foot complex must provide both stability and mobility. It is responsible for providing a stable base of support for the body (stability), but must be flexible enough to absorb the body's weight during gait (mobility). The talocrural joint, or ankle joint, is formed by the articulation of the talus with the tibia and fibula. The talus's shape allows 3 planes of motion: dorsiflexion/plantarflexion, inversion/eversion, and pronation/supination. The purpose of an AFO (Ankle–Foot Orthotic) is to stabilize the talocrural joint. Orthoses Orthoses (plural form of "orthotic") refer to a broad group of medical devices that support, immobilize, or treat muscles, joints or skeletal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Physical Injuries Of A Prophylactic Ankle Brace One of the most common injuries that is relatively seen in all sports, especially in basketball and volleyball, is an acute ankle injury that accounts for about 10 to 25 percent of all injuries. Of all these injuries that occur, almost ¾ of them are related to the lateral structures in our ankle. The most common and minor form of these injuries is a lateral ankle sprain, which is caused by an inversion stress to the joint of the ankle. When someone happens to sprain their ankle, the usual preventive measures by athletic trainers and sports doctors are taken into action such as ankle taping, using of an ankle brace, strengthening of the ankle, and therapy. Of all these, a prophylactic ankle brace is often chosen to help reduce the chance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the factors known to cause these abnormal movements in the joints of the lower extremity is the use of a prophylactic ankle brace. One doctor was able to discover that using an ankle brace during athletic performance did not increase the risk of injury. Our research showed that knee biomechanics known to be risk factors for ACL injury did not appear to be negatively impacted by wearing a lace–up ankle brace. (Aerni, Giselle, 2012). If athletes wear prophylactic ankle braces during athletic activities, then they are more likely to be subjected to knee injuries. The study will analyze the effect that prophylactic ankle braces cause to the joints of the knee and determining if it increases the stress placed on them. The primary function of a prophylactic ankle that is being used is to put a restriction on the inversion range of motion it usually has, since it is where most injuries occur in an ankle sprain. What people don't know is that it also decreases your overall performance, total range of motion, and other kinematics as well. When a player is jumping and landing, the use of an ankle brace significantly reduces the amount of internal and external rotation you have in your ankle. So, when the rotation of the subtalar joint in the transverse plane is reduced, your leg and foot aren't able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soccer has broken me down and built me back up several times over. Soccer has taken away bits and pieces of me, and it has replaced my perspective on the world in exchange. Although I share a love/hate relationship with the sport, I am grateful to have soccer in my life; it has helped guide and mold me into a better person. Injuries are usually not something to be grateful for, but I love mine. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a smaller player on the field, most of the time my ankles were getting assaulted by kids one– and–a–half times my size. Fortunately, two consecutive years included a nasty ankle injury for me. Thanks to other players, soccer had the opportunity to reteach me. The first injury occurred between eighth and ninth grade, right before I moved up to high school soccer. I was playing indoor soccer between outdoor seasons, since my friends from school made a team, and during one fateful game, I jumped to head the ball before an opposing player could and ended up drawing the short end of the stick in the ordeal. I was successful in reaching the ball first, but he decided to push me just before I landed, causing me to plant my right foot improperly on the ground and place my full weight on the side of my foot. There was an immediate pop. It felt as if my foot detached and I was standing on the bare nub of my ankle. There was blinding pain, yet no pain at all. Just pin–pricks of blood flowing furiously. Before anyone could ask why I was limping, I was off the field and icing my ankle. After a late night visit to the emergency room when the swelling continued to grow and I could no longer put any pressure on my foot, it was discovered that I had a high ankle sprain. The doctors ordered me to wear an air–cast for the following two to three months with a strict ban on running, along with minimal walking to get to class only – patience is a virtue. However, the following season I managed to hurt the same ankle all over again during practice. While going to shoot the ball, I had the unfortunate circumstance of a defender trying to clear the ball at the same moment. Our feet hit the ball at the exact same time, and the earth–shattering force of contact left both of us on the ground holding our ankles as the pain throbbed each time blood pumped through our injured veins. • 34. Growth Plate Injury Research Paper 5 of the Most Painful Growth Plate Injures Affecting Young Athletes The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently reported that more than 2 million children are treated each year for sports– and recreation–related injuries. Sports participation provides many benefits for younger athletes, but unfortunately, injuries do occur. This means doctors have to treat these injuries differently than they do for adults. Why? Children and adolescents have growth plates, which are the areas of soft tissue near the ends of the long bones in their arms and legs. Because these are the last portion of the bones that harden (ossify), they are particularly vulnerable to injury. For instance, the same type of accident that might cause an adult to have an ankle sprain can be a growth plate fracture in a child. How long does this last? Girls' growth plates usually harden or ossify wen they're around ages 13 to 15 years old, while boys' growth plates harden later, at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Your child's treatment will depend on how severe the growth plate injury is and the vast majority of kids do recover without any long–term consequences. Many of these injuries are minor which means that doctors will usually suggest that they limit their activities and not bear any weight on the affected limb. Most of the time this can be accomplished by wearing a cast, splint or brace over the area to prevent any movement. In these cases, this may be the only treatment necessary but with fractures, immediate care is extremely important. This is so that Doctors can: Provide immobilization using a cast or splint Use manipulation or surgery to unite the bones into the correct position; which can depend on where and how serious the injury is and, the patient's age Use strengthening and range–of–motion exercises to improve movement, but only after the fracture heals Incorporate a long–term follow–up plan; including x–rays, to monitor your child's growth and ... • 42. Effective Strength And Conditioning Program For An Injured... Despite an effective strength and conditioning program that helps prevent injuries, young athletes will still get hurt. When injuries do occur, a coach must know the proper treatment steps because he or she has a legal duty to provide immediate emergency care for an injured athlete. In this regard, the coach must administer the first aid or he or she must make sure a medical provider such as an athletic trainer provides the proper treatment. Furthermore, a coach must understand the subsequent rehabilitation involved that will successfully return the injured athlete to full participation. Because ankle sprains are the most common basketball injury, this chapter will discuss the treatment plan considerations. The initial objective with an ankle sprain is to control swelling that includes protection, rest, ice, compression, and evaluation (P.R.I.C.E) treatment. The P.R.I.C.E treatment plan involves 1) protecting the ankle with braces, wraps, or crutches, 2) resting the ankle by not doing activities that cause pain, 3) icing the ankle for 20 minutes and off for 60 minutes throughout the first 48 hours after the injury, compressing the ankle with a wrap, 4) elevating the ankle at or above the heart. After the initial treatment, there are three primary modalities available to treat an ankle injury: surgery, conservative treat with cast immobilization, and functional treatment. Studies have found functional treatment as the best modality to treat Grade 1 and 2 ankle injuries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. How The Ball With Your Foot Introduction In America it is called soccer, but in the rest of the world it is called football. This sport consists of a ball being kicked with feet with the intent of getting the ball into the goal. The faster the ball moves, the less time the goalie has to prevent a goal from being scored. If the ball is kicked directly at the goalie with incredible speed, the ball will be deflected and not go into the goal. Occasionally a player must direct the ball around many additional players to get a free shot which can be a lot of hard work. Sometimes though, a player gets a free shot. This uninhibited shot doesn't necessarily mean free points though. Most shots that score have a rapid velocity and are very accurate. There are two main ways of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The approach includes the steps before the foot plant. This article found that the greater distance the step is up to 1.6m the more powerful the kick will be. The biomechanical purpose of this phase is to generate power by increasing momentum. The contact phase occurs after the opposite foot has been planted and is the "beginning the forward motion of the kicking leg onto the impact on the ball" (What... 2014). During this phase the flexion of the knee in the kicking leg increases to cause an overall deceleration of the player but an increase in acceleration of the kicking leg to generate more velocity. The follow through phase is where contact is made and the kicking leg comes closer to the elbow on the same side of the body as the kicking leg. The leg essentially completes the path it began in the forward swing of the kick. The article goes on to mention the main biomechanical principles that influence a player's ability to achieve maximum velocity. They are the angular velocity of the lower limbs, coefficient of restitution, and ground reaction force. In the research article "Three–dimensional kinetic analysis of side–foot and instep soccer kicks" by Hiroyuki Nunome, Takeshi Asai, Yasuo Ikegami, and Shinji Sakurai, they found "The average ball velocities of the side–foot and instep kicks were 23.4 +/– 1.7 m·s–1 and 28.0 +/– 2.1 m·s–1, respectively" (Nunome 2002). Background A twenty–one year old female, basketball player experienced an ankle sprain by accidentally stepping on another player's foot. The player was going up to make a shot landed on the opponents foot when she came back down, which made her ankle invert. The head athletic trainer evaluated her then taped her ankle to provide support and keep the swelling to a minimum at that time, so the player could return to play. Immediately after the game, the player's ankle was iced down to control the swelling and was receiving NSAID's to help with the pain or discomfort she was feeling. The player was referred to the team physician for x–rays and MRI to help rule out fractures. Treatment was started to help relieving the swelling and pain. Treatment In the first couple of days of rehab, she received high volt, and ice to help with the swelling she also did ankle pumps that also help with moving out the inflammation. This is usually given by the coach to fire up the players and get them ready for the game ahead of them. The pep talk I got that night will be in my mind for the rest of my life. My Coach always gave us life lessons that were key not only on the field but off of it as well. Statistical significance was established by p ≤ 0.05 and CI of 95%, which decreased the risk of a Type I error and improved precision, respectively (Jewell, 2015). Between–group comparison analyses indicated a single session of massage and mobilization resulted in significant improvements in OLB and TUG tests, but not in the LR test (Vaillant et al., 2009). Vaillant et al. concluded that balance responses in elderly women could improve after a single session of foot and ankle manual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 64. Ankle Sprains Overview Essay PT Rehabilitation Plan Ankle Sprains Overview Ankle sprains have three degrees of injury ranging from 1–3. The level of the ankle sprain is determined by the amount that the ligament is torn or stretched. A grade one sprain is categorized as a slight stretching and damage to the fibers of the ligament. A grade 2 sprain is characterized as partial tearing of the ligament and abnormal laxity of the ankle. A grade 3 sprain is characterized by complete tear of the ligament if it can be pushed or pulled in certain movements there is gross instability. The movements of the ankle are abduction, adduction, plantar flexion, dorsiflexion, and inversion, eversion. The ligaments of the ankle hold the ankle bones and joint into position. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After disruption of the CFL, the PTFL inhibits adduction with the ankle in dorsiflexion. Medial Ligaments: The deltoid ligaments which are the superficial and deep deltoid ligaments. The greatest mechanical forces across the ankle joint are directed medially in the normal external rotation of the foot in walking and running. This is reflected in the strength and thickness of the deltoid ligament. Biomechanically, the deltoid ligament primarily prevents abduction. After division of both components of the deltoid ligament, anterior instability of the ankle does not increase. Once the lateral ligaments are cut, the deltoid ligament acts as a secondary restraint against anterior translation. The fibular ligament primarily inhibits lateral translation of the talus. The deep deltoid ligament provides the greatest restraint against lateral translation. In order to tilt the talus in valgus within the mortise, the superficial and deep deltoid ligaments must be completely ruptured. Syndesmosis ligaments of the ankle refers to the membrane connecting the tibia to the fibula. The 3 ligaments are the anterior tibiofibular ligament, the posterior tibiofibular ligament, and the interosseous tibiofibular ligament. The most commonly injured ligament in syndesmotic sprains is the AITF ligament. The movement that is allowed with these ligaments is limited due to their anatomy that allows little range in eversion. These ligaments play little role in the stability of the ankle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Preparing For Senior Night, My Last Home Volleyball Game Preparing for senior night, my last home volleyball game, I found myself sorting through pictures of my high school years and noticed a recurring theme: a bittersweet memory, my walking boot. As silly as it may sound, I have derived much of my identity from this boot. When I meet new classmates, they ask about the status of my injury. "How is your foot? Can you play volleyball again?" I cannot blame them for noticing my bum ankle. For more than a year (on and off), a bulky, grey piece of plastic masked the lower half of my leg. For a part of this time, I even rode through the hallways on a rented medical scooter that my friends affectionately dubbed "Ricky Bobby." This boot, the thing that once caused me anxiety is now a symbol of my determination. Additionally, it opened my eyes to the field I want to spend the next chapter of my life pursuing: physical therapy. The summer before my junior year, I worked harder than I ever had to train for my first varsity season. Immediately after an intense run, I would go home and ice my ankle to relieve the pain that I ignored during the workout itself. "Push through;" I would tell myself, "be strong!" I thought that I was being strong by working through the pain. Sports media always praises the athletes who played the championship game on a broken foot or a sprained ankle, but you never hear about the kid who trains through the everlasting two–a–days of preseason and never makes it to the first game. I thought that by pushing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Ankle Sprains Case Study Ankle sprains are one of the most common injuries among the pediatric population between the ages of 10 and 19, especially with an increased participation in recreational and competitive sports.1,2 Of that pediatric population, females are reported to be more susceptible to ankle injuries than their male counterparts.1 The reoccurrence rate is of even greater concern being as high as 70% within the active, adolescent female population.3 Some potential risk factors that may be contributing to an increased occurrence of ankle sprains among this population are: leg dominance, history of previous injury, contact or non–contact injuries, postural control and body size.2,3 According to Pozzi et al., in the International Journal of Sports Physical ... • 70. Soccer Injuries For Soccer Introduction: Soccer is the most popular sport in the entire world. Soccer continues to emerge as a major sport in countries like United States and even China, while it remains the fastest growing team sport. The sport's characteristics and its required functional activities demand certain technical skills and healthy physique from each player. As a result, there are disadvantages of playing the sport as injuries and medical problems occur. Soccer injuries are a big factor of the sport, that is really important to address. This report describes the most common types of injuries(Ankle sprains, Hamstring, Knee), causes of injuries, effects of injuries and prevention/treatment of injuries for soccer. Most common types of injuries: First, there are three most common types of soccer injuries, which are ankle sprains, hamstring and muscle cramps. Ankle sprains are the most common injuries that occur in the sport. This injury occurs when the foot suddenly twists or rolls, which then forces the ankle joint to be out of its normal position. As a result, the ligaments around the ankle stretch or tear. The number of ligaments torn or disrupted determines the degree of the injury. The more ligaments affected, the worse the injury is. Syndesmosis, also known as "high ankle" injuries, usually occur as the player is pushed backwardly on another player's planted foot. This type of injury usually needs 2–4 weeks of recovery. In addition, when the "deltoid" ligament is affected in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. An Incident At Johnny A 's Third Rail Pub This claim arises out of a lawsuit filed in Kane County, Illinois involving an incident at Johnny A's Third Rail Pub, a local pub owned by the Insured, Beslidheje, Inc. Mr. Tefik Ashiku owns and operates the Insured corporate entity. The pub operates out of a building owned by the co–defendant, Junaid Zubairi. Plaintiff's lawsuit alleges negligence against both Beslidheje, Inc. and Zubairi, claiming that the stairway had insufficient or inoperative lighting at the time she fell. We have had further discussions with Mr. Ashiku, Mr. Zubairi, and Ms. Kristen Finkensher, the bartender on duty on the night of the occurrence. Their statements are consistent with the facts stated in our prior report. In short, on the night of the incident, the City of South Elgin was hosting its annual festival, Riverfest, near the pub. There were light towers located throughout the festival grounds, which illuminated the surrounding buildings, including the pub. Plaintiff came into the pub, ordered one beer and, at some point, left the pub. An unknown patron then alerted Ashiku and his bartender that Plaintiff had fallen near the bottom of the stairs. Plaintiff refused assistance from the bartender including an offer to call an ambulance and left in a vehicle driven by her friend. The lights above the stairs were functional and the village's light towers brightly illuminated the stairs. The bartender described the plaintiff as being about 5'8" tall and weighing about 300 pounds. She believes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 81. Reflective Essay On Faith And Religion Faith and religion are an uncomfortable topic for most, a treasured topic for some, and incredibly life–changing for others. My own faith has grown immensely over the years, and it is something that has been so integral in my growth that I cannot shy away from sharing it in abundance. God has revealed many things to me, one of which is that when I stop living to glorify myself, and instead glorify Him with my actions, He will bless that. It was a Saturday night, in the middle of a cold February. The year was 2011, and I was a sophomore in high school. My face had been painted in layers of bright blues and greys, my hair under a long, black wig that reached to my waist. My heart was pounding, just like it did before every performance. However, it was never stage fright. I loved the feeling of the hot, white spotlight, the hundreds of children sitting on the edges of their seats. I cherished the feeling of excitement that welled up in my throat as the overture swelled, the bass vibrating beneath my feet. I was in love with theater, and I poured my heart and time into every performance we gave. This performance was no exception. I was in a production of The Chronicles of Narnia– The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. After being cast as the female lead– The White Witch– I had spent hours of dedicated preparation for the part. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is a beloved tale, but many do not know that it is an allegory for the beliefs of the Christian faith. As a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
