Social pharmacy is defined as the science which deals with
the social aspects of the profession of pharmacy.
In social pharmacy, the drug or medicine is studied from
the social, scientific and humanistic perspectives.

drug use and pharmacoepidemiology
Social pharmacy consists of all social factors that
influence medicine use such as medicine and health
related beliefs, attitudes, policies etc.

Along with behavioural sciences perspectives
pharmaceutical administration areas like pharmacy
management, marketing are also a component of
pharmacy.

Health care system is intended to deliver the health care services.
Health system is the organization of people, institutions and
resources that deliver health care services to meet the health needs of
target population.

Private Health Care System:
Offers a high standard of care
Well equipped with modern technology and highly qualified and
well trained physicians.
Examples include: Apollo Hospital, Fortis hospital, Manipal
Hospital Etc.

Public and private health care system in India
Public Health Care System:
Comprises a set of state owned health care facilities
Funded and controlled by Government of India (Central/State)
Treatment in these hospitals are either fully or partially reduced
Eg: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in different
location (New Delhi, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Raipur etc), PHCs, Taluk
Hospitals, District Hospitals etc.

National Health Mission
The National Health Mission (NHM) encompasses its two Sub-
Missions, the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and the
National Urban Health Mission (NUHM).
The main programmatic components include Health system
strengthening in rural and urban areas, Reproductive Maternal-
Neonatal-Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) and
Communicable and Non Communicable Diseases.

National Rural Health Mission
Launched in April 2005 with aim of providing better rural health
services
Aim:
To provide accessible, affordable, accountable, effective and
reliable primary health care in the rural through the creation of
accredited social health activist (ASHA)
To improve access of rural people, especially poor women and
children.
