1. Cranial flexure:
The anterior end of the brain bends
downwards at an angle of 30 . This curve is called
cranial flexure. It is a permanent curve.

7. Primary divisions of brain

9. Prosencephalon
• The anterior most part of the brain develops into
prosencephalon.
• The cavity present inside is the prosocoel.
• The prosencephalon of the adult brain has two
regions, namely
Telencephalon
Diencephalon

10. Cerebrum
• A thin walled vesicle grows out from the anterior
end of the forebrain.
• It is rudiment of cerebrum.

13. Mesencephalon
• The middle part of the brain is
called mesencephalon.
• The cavity of mesencephalon is
called mesocoel.
• The mesocoel becomes reduced
to a narrow passage called
aqueduct of sylvius.

• Hind brain is also called rhombencephalon.
• The rhombencephalon is divided into an anterior
metencephalon and a posterior myelencephalon.
Metencephalon:
The dorso- lateral wall of the metencephalic
region grow extensively and give rise to the cerebrum
of the brain.
Myelencephalon:
The myelencephalon gives rise to the medulla
oblongata of the brain.
