Introduction
A stationery vending machine is an automated machine that
sells stationery items like calculators, rulers, books, pens, etc. it
is a coin-operated machine that scans cards before processing
the buying action. It serves people with a lot of efficiency at
any time of the day. After paying, a product may become
available by the machine releasing it, so that it falls in an open
compartment at the bottom, either released first, or put in by the
customer, or the unlocking of a door, drawer, or turning of a
knob. After a sale, the door automatically returns to a locked
position. A stationery vending machine conveniently provides
student needs at any time of the day as well as useful services.
A stationery Vending machine allows students to access their
preferred products while on the go. This helps to save them
time. This makes it possible for students to access their
favorite products during their rest. Therefore, students do not
have to take long journeys to find products because the
machines are often strategically positioned to satisfy their
needs. A stationery Vending machine help students save a
substantial amount of money in the form of labor cost that is
often required to make their products available to students. The
machines play an essential role in dispensing products and
collecting money from the students within a reasonable time.
This makes it possible for more students to make their
purchases. A stationery vending machine project is the most
suitable, affordable, portable and does not require a lot of
resources to install it. This is a project that is very much
affordable and can be tested. The marketability of its services is
very high, and there are a lot of opportunities that can be solved
after implementing this project. This project will be addressing
a problem that has been in existence for a long time.
Statement of the problem
In universities like Prince Mohammed Bin Fahad University,
there are is a lot of work especially work to do with stationery
items like books, pens, glue, etc. this stuff is needed by students
but are not provided by the University. And having the
university in an isolated place where it almost far from
everything makes it hard for the students to go to purchase
whatever they need and come back in a short period before their
classes start. Many students at PMU have gone through some
challenges because of the lack of stationery tools within the
university. We've all been in these kinds of situations where
you're in the class, in the middle of writing revision notes or
that important essay and suddenly your laptop runs out of
charge, your pen breaks or you don't have space on your USB
stick to store all your work.
Another situation is during the examination period, when some
students may have forgotten exam tools like a calculator, and
pen at home, so they usually end up either running through
hallways searching for people that can borrow from or waiting
until when one of their classmates is done of what they are
doing and then borrow the calculator or whatever they need in
order to start the exam. Both ways are a waste of time, as most
of the examination period will be gone while they are waiting to
find someone to borrow them. These situations can highly affect
the academic performance of students as it can easily lead to
bad grades and sometimes a failure in exams. Not only students
but sometimes instructors also get through some of these types
of issues where they are in the middle of the lecture and loss
their board markers and need another one to write or draw to
clarify some ideas for the student. So, having a stationery
vending machine will be a complete life-saver for those
emergencies we all face as students and instructors. Whether
you need a pen, a notepad, a calculator or even a Phone charger,
you can now equip yourself within minutes. The vending
machine will sell a variety of items and will ensure that
students will be able to access stationery without having to
leave their classes for a long time.
Background
Percival Everitt invented the vending machine in 1880, London
in the United Kingdom. It is an automated machine for selling
stationery stuffs like calculators, papers, glue, etc. and other
items depending on how it is designed for work to do. A
vending machine was introduced in the United Kingdom for
postcards dispensing and coin operations, and the machine has
evolved much for use in several departments like postcard
dispensations, post offices and in offering bookshop services.
The vending machine was a great success, even back then
during the early stages of the implanting the machine. Since
then there have been numerous developments with vending
machines which allow offering very cost-effective solutions.
Interest in stationery vending machines seems to be rapidly
developing. This is an exciting prospect for us as we can
provide unique stationery vending solutions for our fellow
students. The vending revolution has brought a great
convenience in our lives for the last few decades. The machines
are everywhere, be it markets, airports, bus stations and even
restrooms, vending machines have made life easier.
Target market
A target market is a group of potential customers to a
company desires to sell its products and services. This group
also involve specific customers to a company aims its marketing
efforts. The one part of the total market for a good or service is
a target market. Consumers who create a target market have
similar characteristics including buying geography, buying
power, demographics, and incomes. Identifying the target
market is an essential step for any company in the development
of a marketing plan. Not knowing who the target market is
could cost a lot of money and time for a company. Target
markets categorized by age, location, income, and lifestyle.
Defining a specific target market make the company able to
hone in on specific market factors to reach and connect with
customers through sales and marketing efforts. Testing a target
market often happens well before a product is released. while
the testing phase, a company probably use limited product
rollouts and focus groups, making the product managers able to
have a feel for which aspects of the product are the strongest.
Once a product is released, the company can go on to monitor
the demographics of its target market through sales tracking,
customer surveys, and various other activities that make the
company understand what its customers demand or need. The
target market for our project is female student of prince
Mohammad Bin Fahd University, the age between 18 to25, the
location is Khobar in Saudi Arabia and the students do not have
income, they get the money from their parents about 100 to 500
monthly. Also, PMU employees can be a target market.
Need
The need for this project is to have vending machines for
school supplies, like, pencil, binder clips, scissors, pen, and
eraser. All our university work needed this equipment that I
mentioned before. Also, because sometimes student forgot some
of those equipment at home and they need to use it in the
university like when they have a project, also sometimes they
forgot the pen and they need to use it in the exam.

The Benefits:
The idea of having vending machine that provide school
supplies for students such as papers and pencils is to fill the
needs and wants for the students of PMU and by having such
type of machines have many benefits and advantages that will
help each students to be prepare for exam or to have it to do
some work. The purposes of having school supplies vending
machine are to fill the needs of the students in the quickest time
and to have revenue that will help the university in a way or in
another.
Student’s will love the idea of school supply vending machines
in the university because they can quickly and easily choose
what they want and what they need, it’s basically has a quick
access and service and it will save much time and also it will
save a lot of effort looking for a pin for instant when they need
it. Vending machines offers a sense of independence that most
kids appreciate, especially as they get older. And by providing
quick service, adults are still helping to guide them in their
decision making.
Another benefit of the integration of vending machines in
schools is the fact that they provide students with options if
they forget their supplies, or do not want to ask a stranger
person to borrow from them what they need. This ensures that
each student receives something that they want and they do not
have to ask someone in return.
Yet other benefit offered by having vending machines in
university is the profit. The extra funds are able to go toward
other things that the university needs, such as books, computers,
art supplies, etc. The money may also go to sports teams or
even after school clubs.
The idea of having vending machines that provide the students
with school supplies in PMU going to be huge benefit for the
reputation of the university because its going to be the first
university you provide such service for their students, and that
will be a big step for our university to have such competitive
advantage.
The student’s pf PMU need this services in our university
because it going to be very beneficial and will solve a lot of
issues that the students may face, through the idea is very
simple yet it will have a major positive impact of the university
and on the way of student’s productivity, because it will provide
them all the things that they will need to be more productive
and to be more creative.
Observation:
Through this project we conducted a survey from PMU students
to know how much they need the vending machine and how
much is it important for them to provide, and to know exactly
the amount of the response that will agree with our idea to have
a clear concept of how to operate this plan and how to pull it
off. The responses were very positive the observation of the
survey was clear that the students of PMU have a great affect of
this project by having too many students wanting the idea of the
vending machine.
The questions were mentioned in the survey was as the follow:
· Are you a student of PMU?
· Did you ever forget your school supplies while you in PMU?
· Do you think providing a school supply vending machine is
going to serve the students of PMU?
· If we have vending machine that provide a school supplies
where you want it to be?
· What do you think that is important to provide in the vending
machine?
Advertising
We will put a poster in corridors of the female campus to
make student knew about the vending Machin. Also, we will
design advertising for the machine on the university website,
and we will send messages on WhatsApp groups for the
university students. Also, we will send an email to students to
attract them. The advertising will show the tools, price, and the
locations.

Sunday, 14 April 2019 Introduction A stationery vending machine is an automated machine that sells stationery items like calculators, rulers, books, pens, etc. it is a coin-operated machine that scans cards before processing the buying action. • 3. machines are often strategically positioned to satisfy their needs. A stationery Vending machine help students save a substantial amount of money in the form of labor cost that is often required to make their products available to students. The machines play an essential role in dispensing products and collecting money from the students within a reasonable time. This makes it possible for more students to make their purchases. A stationery vending machine project is the most suitable, affordable, portable and does not require a lot of resources to install it. This is a project that is very much affordable and can be tested. The marketability of its services is very high, and there are a lot of opportunities that can be solved after implementing this project. This project will be addressing a problem that has been in existence for a long time. Statement of the problem In universities like Prince Mohammed Bin Fahad University, there are is a lot of work especially work to do with stationery items like books, pens, glue, etc. this stuff is needed by students but are not provided by the University. And having the university in an isolated place where it almost far from everything makes it hard for the students to go to purchase whatever they need and come back in a short period before their classes start. Many students at PMU have gone through some challenges because of the lack of stationery tools within the university. We've all been in these kinds of situations where you're in the class, in the middle of writing revision notes or that important essay and suddenly your laptop runs out of charge, your pen breaks or you don't have space on your USB stick to store all your work. Another situation is during the examination period, when some students may have forgotten exam tools like a calculator, and pen at home, so they usually end up either running through hallways searching for people that can borrow from or waiting
  • 4. until when one of their classmates is done of what they are doing and then borrow the calculator or whatever they need in order to start the exam. Both ways are a waste of time, as most of the examination period will be gone while they are waiting to find someone to borrow them. These situations can highly affect the academic performance of students as it can easily lead to bad grades and sometimes a failure in exams. Not only students but sometimes instructors also get through some of these types of issues where they are in the middle of the lecture and loss their board markers and need another one to write or draw to clarify some ideas for the student. So, having a stationery vending machine will be a complete life-saver for those emergencies we all face as students and instructors. Whether you need a pen, a notepad, a calculator or even a Phone charger, you can now equip yourself within minutes. The vending machine will sell a variety of items and will ensure that students will be able to access stationery without having to leave their classes for a long time. Background Percival Everitt invented the vending machine in 1880, London in the United Kingdom. It is an automated machine for selling stationery stuffs like calculators, papers, glue, etc. and other items depending on how it is designed for work to do. A vending machine was introduced in the United Kingdom for postcards dispensing and coin operations, and the machine has evolved much for use in several departments like postcard dispensations, post offices and in offering bookshop services. The vending machine was a great success, even back then during the early stages of the implanting the machine. Since then there have been numerous developments with vending machines which allow offering very cost-effective solutions. Interest in stationery vending machines seems to be rapidly developing. This is an exciting prospect for us as we can provide unique stationery vending solutions for our fellow
  • 5. students. The vending revolution has brought a great convenience in our lives for the last few decades. The machines are everywhere, be it markets, airports, bus stations and even restrooms, vending machines have made life easier. Target market A target market is a group of potential customers to a company desires to sell its products and services. This group also involve specific customers to a company aims its marketing efforts. The one part of the total market for a good or service is a target market. Consumers who create a target market have similar characteristics including buying geography, buying power, demographics, and incomes. Identifying the target market is an essential step for any company in the development of a marketing plan. Not knowing who the target market is could cost a lot of money and time for a company. Target markets categorized by age, location, income, and lifestyle. Defining a specific target market make the company able to hone in on specific market factors to reach and connect with customers through sales and marketing efforts. Testing a target market often happens well before a product is released. while the testing phase, a company probably use limited product rollouts and focus groups, making the product managers able to have a feel for which aspects of the product are the strongest. Once a product is released, the company can go on to monitor the demographics of its target market through sales tracking, customer surveys, and various other activities that make the company understand what its customers demand or need. The target market for our project is female student of prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, the age between 18 to25, the location is Khobar in Saudi Arabia and the students do not have income, they get the money from their parents about 100 to 500 monthly. Also, PMU employees can be a target market. Need

The extra funds are able to go toward other things that the university needs, such as books, computers, art supplies, etc. The money may also go to sports teams or even after school clubs. The idea of having vending machines that provide the students with school supplies in PMU going to be huge benefit for the reputation of the university because its going to be the first university you provide such service for their students, and that will be a big step for our university to have such competitive advantage.
