1. Who would be the target audience
for your media product?
2. Craig – A fan of partying and clubbing
“ I thought the front cover looked very professional
as the masthead was bold and prominent and
matched the genre of music. I liked how the cover
had only one main image as this made the
magazine look classy and expensive. I did like the
house style however i thought it looked like it
would appeal to girls rather than boys.
The contents page i thought was the most
professional looking page. I liked the references to
social networking sites as this definitely does
appeal to young audiences, I did however think the
editors not was rather long and took up a
substantial amount of the page. I thought it was
important to have another model/star on the
contents to avoid being too repetitive.
I thought the double page spread had good synergy
with the front cover and i appreciated that you’d
used photoshop effectively to cut round the image.
Also you had clearly bled the title of the article over
to the other page which is a typical convention.
3. Louise - A music enthusiast person
living in London
“I really liked the overall look to the cover, i especially
liked the main image, i thought it had obviously had a
lot of planning and a lot of consideration went into
taking it. I liked how the masthead stood out and is
eyecatching and directly appealed to the target
audience. Overall i thought the colours and photo
worked really well together.
I thought the contents page was really well set out clear
to navigate also the house style here looked really edgy.
I liked how there was clear synergy with the front cover
the incorporation of the masthead, another photo of
Helena Jade.
My thoughts on the double page spread was that there
were only two columns of text when traditionally there
are three, but this must be a challenge of the
conventions.
4. Scott - A university student
“I very much liked the look of the front cover, the
photography looked very professional and the use
of direct address was very effective at captivating
audiences. The colour scheme was complimentary
however i felt more aimed at a female audience.
The contents page was very well put together and
was clear to read. Here the colour scheme was less
feminine which balanced the slightly girly front
cover. I liked how realistic the editors note was and
how you used conventions such as the editors
photo and signature.
I also very much liked the double page spread with
the effective use of the standfirst to introduce your
article and the use of drop quotes which is a typical
convention.
5. Rachel – Sporting enthusiast
“My attention is immediately drawn to the large
main image, which looks very professional and
classy as it’s the only image in the cover. I think the
masthead is very fitting as it matches the
appearance of the cover but also who it
represents.
I was very impressed with the contents page as it
looked very edgy which i know is the style you
were aiming for. It is clear the page is split into
thirds with the pages as one third, the editors note
as the other and the secondary model and
subscription deal as the final.
The front cover had good synergy with front cover
with the title of the article having the same font as
the masthead. My only thought is that possibly the
image could have been more eyecatching or
dominant on the page.
