1. Audience research:
The audience we are hopingtotarget isgoingto be teenagertoyoungadultse.g.:16 to 18, our
audience isforpeople stillcurrentlyineducation.Ourdocumentarywill be made fornospecific
genderor ethnicityaswell feel thisissuesdoesbooteffect onspecificgenderorethnicity.
We have decidedtotargetteenagers astheywill be able torelate andagree withthe issuesand
ideaspresentedinthe documentary. Thiswillmeantheyare more likelytobe interestsinour
documentaryandwe are more likely tosparka debate.Whichwill be useful forusas morallyif a
debate orissue iscreatedor highlightedbythe mediainstitutionsare putundermore pressure to
change. This couldmeanthat our documentary mayinfluenceeitherthe collegeoritsstudentsto
change for the better.
We alsothinkitwill be bettertous to aimour documentaryatour age range as we as teenagerwill
knowwhatsort of tingsinterestourage groupbetterthan we know whatwill interestadultsor
youngerchildren.
Because of our targetaudience beenthe oneswhoare representedinthe documentarywe will have
to make sure not to crises themheavilyaswe donot wantto make themfeltattackedas itwill
encore viewsnottowatch our documentary.
We have to considerwhen makingordocumentarythe conventionsof most documentaries aimedat
teensoryoungadults. The most recommendedteenage filmsall focusonsubjectsthatrelate to
themlike ourlike “The BullyProject:A Yearin the Life of America’sBullyCrisis”or“AmericanTeen”.
For our subjectthe viewswillprobablyknowalotabout the sensationoff feelingstresshowever
theyare lesslikelytoknowaboutthe statistic, the reasonsforthe stressor the solutionsforit.
In orderfor usto make the documentaryaccessable tothe target audience Iaskedsome 16 to 18
yearoldswhat theywouldprofferinadocumentaryandthe general consensuswasthattheywould
like alot of “visuals”suchas graphicsso that the documentarydidnotbecome tooboring. Thisas an
ideawe alreadyconsideredaswe knowthatmostteenagerscanbe boredeasywhenspokento
continuallyorpresentedwilllarge bulksof onscreentext.
Theyalsopointedoutthat theywouldlike abitof humoursuch as ironyor sacrum inorderto make
sure that the weightysubjectisnottodepressingandhardhitting.
2. our audince wouldlike arangof bothformal andvox popintrevewssothattheyare proviedwith
bothfacts and oppions.Whenaragningthese interviewswe willhave tomake sure we interevw
arange ethinitiesandgenders.Thisissesental as we are not targetinga spesifiicgenderorenithist.
The representaionof all of these groupswillbe essentail tomake ourwide audince feel inculedand
representedinthe doctumnetry.
Whenthinkingaboutrepresentationwe have tobe carfeull tochosessudentswhowll give a
possitive imagesandsubvertthe setetypicetahtall yongpeople are lazyandirrisoible.Asif we
representpeoepl inthiswaytheymay become upsetwhenwatchingthe documentry. Inorderto do
thiswe will have tochose studentswholookprentable andwe willneedtouse backroundsthat
refectthe college anditsstudentsinapossitive light.Egworkdisplayboardsor shotof students
intercatinginthe caffateria.
Althoughone of the mainreasonswe chosestofocus onteenagersisthattheyhave some
knowledge orinterestinthe topic. We wantto make sure that our documentarydoesteachthem
somethingsuchashowtheycan reduce stressandwhatare the effectsof stresscausedbyschools
or collage.
I alsochose to testthe extentof whattheymanyknow onthe topicor if theyhad ever
exprencencedschool relatedstress. SoImade a questionairthataskedhow muchtheythoughthey
new.If theyha experenicedstressona personal level andthenIincluedafact to see if theynew
aboutthe satatisticsalready.

7. I feel the resultof thissurveywillbe verybeneficial toushoweverif Iwasto create anothersurveyI
wouldaskthe personfillingoutthe questionnaire toidentifytheirethnicitysothatwe can make
sure we are gatheringdatathat is relevanttoall ethnicities, because if thatfactwe have notarget
ethnicity.
Nowthat we knowwhatthe audience wantfromourdocumentaryandhow much priorknowledge
