Dua is a powerful weapon.A believershouldmake duawithall hisheart because AllahlovesHis
creaturescallinguponHim.
“And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me—indeed I am near. I respond to the
invocation of every supplicant when he calls upon Me […]” (Qur’an 2:186)
Dua is more thanjust askingforsomethingyouwant.Itisa conversationbetweenamanand hisLord; a
conversationinwhichone candiscussandask for trivial aswell huge things. Duashowsaperson’sfaith
inAllahwithoutseeingHimandhistrust inHis capabilities. Duacanbringmiraculouschangesinlife.
Dua shouldnotbe the lastthingto do.Whateveryouare doing,make duaat the beginning,duringthe
processand alsoat the end.For example,youwanttostudya particularsubject,youmayask Allahto
guide youto optfor the right institution,goodteachers, andsatisfactoryresults.Stayconnectedwith
your Lord at everystep.
Dua is an importantworship.Allah’sMessenger(P.B.U.H) said:
“There is nothing dearer to Allah than a servant making Dua to Him.” Tirmidhi
“Dua is the marrow (essence) of worship.” Bukhari, Tirmidhi
Things to keepin mindwhile making dua:
A believerhasfaithinAllah’spowersandknowsthatHe is Al-Sami andAl-Qadir.Whateverthe situation
may be,he turns to Allahandasksfor Hishelp.HavingfirmbeliefinAllahandHismightisthe foremost
requirementof makingdua.Youmust nothave any doubtas to whetherHe listensoriscapable of
fulfillingyourwish.Also,if youdonotgetwhat youwishfor,do notbe disheartened,fornoone butHe
knowswhatis bestforyou. Keepmakingduafor all yourwants,bigor small,for,asProphet(P.B.U.H)
said:
“Allah is extremely displeased with the person who doesn’t do dua to Allah.” (Tirmidhi)
Allah’sresponse to Duas:
“Verily your Lord is Generous and Shy. If His servant raises his hands to Him (in supplication) He
becomes shy to return them empty.” (Ahmad, Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi)
Thishadith clearlyshowsthatAllahanswerseachof our prayers.Butso many times,we prayforthings
we do not receive.Whyisthatso?Allahanswersineitherof the followingwaystoeveryone of the
sincerelyaskedduas:
You getwhat youwanted,inthe wayyou desired.
You mightgetit but later,at a time thatis deemedbestbyAllahSubhanawata’ala.
Some misfortune mightbe turnedawayfromyou.
Your dua issavedand,in turn,you will be rewardedheavilyonthe Dayof Judgement.
Whateverthe answermightbe,itwill be inyourfavor.Neverrefrainfrommakingduas.Duasbringa
personclosertoHis Lord and make himamongHis favorites.Openupyourwounds,desiresandwishes
to Allahandreceive abundantbenefitsinreturn. Keepprayingandstayblessed.
