1. Topic Proposal Essay
ENGL 112 Topic Selection Prewriting with Perspective Summary
Week 5
This week's goal is to begin collecting information and planning for the final Commentary essay by
reading, thinking, and engaging with your topic. As you determine your topic, you'll want to be sure
it's viable by understanding the perspectives within it and determining what unique angle you can
offer to the conversation. Under each prompt or question below, provide detailed information that
shares information about your topic.
1. What is your chosen topic, and how did you come across it? Why is it interesting to you? What
do you personally hope to gain or accomplish by writing about this topic?
My chosen topic is teen pregnancy. Teen pregnancy is very common in...show more content...
It also shows that there are more African American and Latina teen births than any other race. It's
shown that most teen parents end up parenting alone because the males aren't mature enough. Teens
that live in a house with multiple generations are more likely to succeed because they have parental
support. Some may suggest that the reason for so many teen births is because of the reality show
16 & pregnant and the media. This could be true because of the way that they glamourize being
pregnant. Young girls will look up to them and want to become like them.
Another source shows that the show is a form of birth control to some girls. Some believe that what
they see the moms go through is just another indication of why they shouldn't become pregnant.
Some things shown on the show will make you not want to become pregnant at such a young age.
Still having to go through high school and deal with pregnancy hormones is a lot to handle. Then,
having to deal with the baby's father walking out is very stressful. Most young men who get young
girls pregnant flee when they're told the news. The Parents Television Council criticizes the show
and believe they're intent is wrong.

2. Mental Health Proposal
What health issue is being addressed by this expo?
Mental health has always been identified as one of the main areas for action in the National Health
Priority Areas (National Health and Medical Research Council 2016), and depression is one of the
most prevalent chronic conditions amongst the young Australians (Australian Institute of Health and
Welfare 2017). Depression is a debilitating condition that substantially impairs individuals' ability
to function and cope with their daily life due to the experience of negative feelings (NHMRC
2016). Also, depression and suicidality have a close correlation as eighty percent of reported
suicide incident was due to the burden of depression (World Health Organization 2017), and suicide
is the second leading cause of death in youths in Australia (Reddy 2010). Moreover, depression can
be inherited in a family through either biological or psychological way (Rahman et al. 2008); hence,
youths who have the family with depression history tend to be more vulnerable and have a higher
chance to get depression comparing with children from healthy family (Rice 2010). Therefore, this
expo is set up for raising community awareness in the burden of depression and reducing the growth
of emotional and developmental dysfunction in youths and their families through providing a
comprehensive research study in related the health problem and proven intervention strategies.

3. Animal Testing Proposal Essay
Millions of animals are being unneedlessly tested on for cosmetics, even though there are plenty of
alternatives available and most of the results are unreliable or not applicable to humans. Although the
fight against animal testing has made huge progress recently, America has yet to stop this cruel
practice and chooses to torture animals while other countries are making a stop to the testing ("
Animal Testing 101").
Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside
cold, barren cages in laboratories across the country. They languish in pain, ache with loneliness,
and long to roam free and use their minds. Instead, all they can do is sit and wait in fear of the next

The barbaric practice of animal testing has been happening since the 19th century, and cosmetics
testing on animals has been around since the mid 1900's, when a woman was injured by using
mascara (Murnaghan, "Animal Testing Timeline"). The woman received burns on her eyes, and
ultimately was blinded by her makeup. This incidence caused the Food and Drug Administration to
pass the 1938 Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act, which introduced testing cosmetics on animals
to prevent injuries similar to this from happening (Murnaghan, "Animal Testing Timeline").
Much progress has been made to end this testing, gearing the world into the right direction of animal
testing free procedures, though, not everyone is on board. The United States have yet to hop onto
the train toward a free animal testing future. The United States continues to test on animals for
cosmetics even though there are numerous ways to test, without using animals, that are more
efficient and effective than animal testing. (3D tissue samples of corneas made from human cells
can be used instead of using an animal organ when testing for cosmetics side effects.) What is worse
than the United States still testing on animals, is that there is continued demand for even more animal

4. Health Care Proposal Essay
My New Proposal for a New System Jamelia Hamilton Axia College of University of Phoenix
Health care is one of the most important benefits to the people of the United States. Everybody
needs health care and some people need more medical attention than others and some people do
not even need health care, except for their yearly exams. Today health care has many strengths,
weaknesses, and challenges. I have come up with a new exam that will hopefully benefit
everybody in some way. My vision for the new health care system is to one, make it more
affordable for everybody in the United States. Two, to make sure that everybody receives the
medical attention they need and deserve. The new health care plan I have come up with is called,

Health care plan 1a would be the cheapest plan and would benefit most people. Now the health care
plans cost would go up each plan. The more on the plan, the more you pay. It is the same way with
the family plan. My health care proposal also really benefits elders. Today, elders have a really
hard time paying for health care when they are on a fixed income. I believe that health care
should a lot cheaper for elders. I believe that elders should receive discounts on their prescriptions
and this proposal would take care of that. This health care proposal would make health care
cheaper for elders by reducing the cost of prescriptions and doctor visits. This health care plan also
eliminates health care for the people who do not need and gives medical attention to the ones who
do need it. For example, the people who have long–term illnesses, but cannot pay for it because they
cannot afford it or it is not in their current health care plan. The people who do have long–term
illnesses in their health care plan, but do have a long–term illness would no longer have to pay for it,
unless they became ill. This would help people realize what they are paying for and what they are
not paying for. This proposal also proposes that kids who are suffering from long–term illnesses get
paid so much money a year for health care expenses, well their parents or guardians would receive
the money and the money could be used for bills or health

SUBJECT:Begin Business Plan for Potential Future Investment
Background In the beginning of the semester you requested that I research a topic related to a
personal decision such as a future goal. I am currently employed at a yoga studio and have a
general understanding of the hard work that goes into running a small business. At the same time, I
also directly see the benefits of owning a successful business. As a business management major, and
someone who enjoys practicing yoga, I believe opening my own yoga studio is a potential career
choice for me.

provides real estate information, as well as statistics about the area's median income, population, etc.
Primary Date. Proper primary data will not be found at this time due to the timeline of this research.
Once the proposal is approved, and the research is further conducted, I will be able to present
primary data when the project is realistically implemented in ten years from now.
Data Analysis
The research obtained for the financial features of this project will be shown through a spreadsheet.
The financial statement will be for this current year instead of the time period when I choose to

7. Project Proposal Essay
Project Proposal INTRODUCTION
Topic and Purpose
This proposal identifies the need for a document, which will propose and develop reasons why a
for–profit transportation service for Kent should be perused. This service should be considered
because of the recent parking and commuting problems both on and off campus.
There have been many reasons why on–campus parking has become difficult in recent years.
Increased student enrollment at Kent State University has posed many problems. The parking lots
cannot facilitate the growing need for vehicle parking. Campus officials have undertaken
construction projects to curb the parking problem, but these renovations have closed lots in the near
term. Also, the increased enrollment of...show more content...
The demand for student bus transportation has far exceeded the supply. Also, vandalism and
automotive theft has nearly doubled since 1997. DUI convictions have quadrupled in the city of
Kent since last year. The need for public transportation is quite clear.
Because of this evident crisis in transportation, a solution must be in order.
Scope
This proposal will outline and validate the impending document generally. First the general nature of
the document will be discussed; then the ensuing proposal will be outlined.
DISCUSSION OF PROPOSAL
Proposal
The proposed document must be constructed to demonstrate the need for a new for–profit
transportation service. It will present a business plan, and then go into detail about characteristics
specific to this service.
Methodology
Information about competitive transportation services will be gathered. Questionnaires will be
distributed to students and faculty of Kent State University in order to gather customer insight. Also,
a financial consulting firm will be hired to provide professional assistance. Document Outline
The proposed document will include the following specific sections. This outline is tentative and
may be adjusted in accord with new developments.

9. Proposal Essay
Proposal Essay Do you feel like you are doing enough to help the special needs community? A
person with special needs is someone that may require extra assistance because they may struggle
with physical, mental or medical issues (SpecialNeeds.com). Most people have heard of, or
encountered someone in their lifetime that has special needs, but not many people will actually
take time to research about it. "One out of every 10 children under the age of 14 has some type of
special need, which includes any physical, cognitive, or medical disability, or chronic or
life–threatening illness." (Lin). Special needs is something you can find anywhere around the
world. This is a worldwide problem and there is so much that can be done to help!...show more

The same applies to you, you will gain so much joy from experiencing something like this. You
never know, you might also create a friendship with someone that you never thought you would!
Many would choose to argue that those who have a certain mental illness or learning disability are
not considered a special needs child. These people only consider those who may have physical
abnormalities to be special needs. Because many think this way, they may not want to help the
special needs community because they are afraid of it being "awkward". "About 70 percent of
babies prenatally diagnosed with Down Syndrome are aborted." says Becker, Writer and mother
of a daughter with Down Syndrome (Garrison). Many people choose not to be involved with
special needs because they don't want to be put in that situation or won't know how to interact
with them. So for those of you who are afraid to be involved with special needs because you are
afraid or worried that it might be awkward, that doesn't mean you should run from the situation. I
suggest you do some research and look up some helpful tips that can help you be at ease when
confronting someone with special needs. Every person with special needs is a gift and should be
treated like so. Gene Rudd, president of the Christian Medical and Dental associations mentions "If
we look at the statistics or surveys that come from families that have raised a Downs

RE: Proposal for Final Project
I request that you accept my topic for the Writing 465 final project. Hopefully, I will be able to use
this project to help alleviate the current parking problem at Winthrop University. Jack Allen, from
Campus Police, and Walter Hardin, Associate Vice President for Facilities Management, have shown
interest in my project.
BACKGROUND
Winthrop University is a small public school with an enrollment of 5,065 undergraduate students
(Fall 2002). Although there is a wonderful parking system...show more content...
After years more of complaining, they decided to add a parking garage to their campus. Although
this garage eliminated 200 spaces, it added 613. The price of this garage was $5.5 million. Arkansas
State used the parking deck, as well as the reserved parking system to help alleviate their situation.
Many other campuses utilize the same systems, such as: University of Cincinnati, University of
Iowa, University of Louisville, University of Pittsburgh, University of South Florida, University of
Tennessee, University of Wisconsin, and many more.
There are currently only a handful of reserved spaces on campus, and the ground has yet to be
broken for the construction of the parking deck. In fact, Winthrop University does not even have
all the funds needed to build this parking deck. When I approached Jack Allen, of Campus Police,
with my idea of reserved parking spaces, he told me that he thought it was a good idea. Walter
Hardin, when given the same idea, seemed to think that the reserved parking system would not
realistically work out but was open to the proposal.
PROPOSED PROJECT
I am planning to find the funding needed to establish reserved parking at Winthrop University
through Campus Police and the current traffic and parking system. Hopefully, Winthrop University
and Campus Police will recognize the need and responsibility to fund these reserved parking spaces.

11. The Proposal Essay
The Proposal was released on June 1, 2011 in Hollywood, California. This romance/comedy was
directed by Anne Fletcher. The Proposal has one of the most foreseeable yet heart melting love
stories of all time.
In this movie, a publisher, originally from Canada's, VISA expires. She makes a last ditch effort to
stay in the country by saying that she is engaged to her assistant, Ryan Reynolds. The "couple" tries
to escape suspicion of their engagement by venturing to Alaska for Andrew's grandmother's 90th
birthday party.
The casting for The Proposal was exceptional. Everyone can call that Margaret, Sandra Bullock, and
Andrew, Ryan Reynolds, are going to end up together. It's your typical, cheesy, movie romance. This
fact does not ruin the movie...show more content...
Throughout the movie, a fun whimsical tune is played in the background of most scenes to fit the
comedy aspect of the movie. When the mood of the scene becomes more serious, such as a scene
when Margaret and Andrew are having a moment, the music changes to deeper, drawn out, chords.
This music was also used to psych audience members out. In certain scenes, Andrew and Margaret
will start to share what appears to be a moment and the slower, more serious, background music is
played. Then the moment is squandered by the nosey grandmother coming into the room and ruining
the moment. At this time, the music goes back to the fun, comedic, music.
Although I said that the acting was phenomenal, there was a time in the movie when I felt a little
awkward. This was at the end of the movie when Andrew is professing his love for Margaret. After a
long drawn out dialogue is spoken between the pair, Andrew says, "Marry me. Because I'd like to
date you." During this whole sequence I felt very awkward. I'm not sure if this was because of the
acting on Reynolds part or just the script.
The Proposal is one of my all time favorite movies. This film would be a great movie to watch on a
girl's night. It has everything a girl could ask for, love, comedy, and Ryan
