2. Teacher's day is clebreted to show our Gratitude, Love and
Recognition of the hard work they put in to Mould us.
The Indian scriptures says about the four entities mata,
pita, guru, and devam, where the position of the god is
next to the teacher.
It is impossible to think our life without teacher because in
every stage of our life. A person will be there to guide us,
teach us, and encourage us.
Different countries celebrate the day on different dates.
5th October is observed as world teachers' day.
Why We celebrate Teacher ‘s Day?
3. In india,5th September is the day when this day is
observed.
India is continuously celebrating teachers' day since
the year of 1962.
The day is the birth day of sarvepalli Radhakrishnan,
the great educationist and philosopher of India and,
was the first vice president and the second president
of the independent India.
4. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
Dr. Sarvepalli had many achievements to his
credit. As a teacher, he taught students at
Calcutta University and Chennai's Presidency
College from the years 1931- 1936. In the
year 1936, he became the Spalding Professor
of Eastern Religions and Ethics at Oxford, a
position he retained for 16 years.
He was born on September 5, 1888, in
Madras's Thiruttani, he was known for his
inspirational teaching style. It's in his honor
that India celebrates this day as the Teachers'
Day.
5. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
When he became President, some of his students and
friends requested him to allow them to celebrate his
birthday, 5th September. He replied, “Instead of
celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if 5
September is observed as Teachers' Day.”
According to him, “Teachers should be the best minds in
the country.”
6. Savitribai Phule
First female teacher of
the first woman's school
in India.
She has started a school
for girls in 1948, and
also worked towards
dealing with issues such
as widow remarriages
and untouchability
among others.
7. Savitribai Phule
Her husband needed some female teachers to join his
bandwagon of his reform works. Thus he taught and
trained his wife as a teacher. After completing her studies ,
she opened a school for girls in 1848 in Pune.
Savitribai continued teaching girls even after facing very
strong oppositions from the society .
She also published some books of poems such as KAVYA
PHULE In 1934 and BAVAN KASHI SUBODH in1982.
“Awake, arise and educate. Smash traditions- Liberate,”
Phule said.
8. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen (A. P. J.) Abdul Kalam was a
scientist and engineer, who served as the President of
India from 2002 to 2007.
He is a man of vision ,who is always full of ideas aimed at
the development of the country and is often also referred
to as the missile man of India.
People loved and respected him so much during his tenure
as president that was popularly called the people’s
president.
He is also receive largest civilian award Bharat Ratan in
1997.

India's 11th president and great scientist Dr. APJ Abdul
Kalam was a visiting professor at the Indian Institute of
Management at Shillong Ahmedabad, and Indore and an
honorary fellow of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
He also taught information technology at the International
Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad and
technology at Banaras Hindu University and Anna
University and various other institutions.

13. Chanakya
Known as Kautilya Chanakya is the first famous Indian
scholar who authored Arthshastra and Neetishastra. He
served as a teacher of Political Science and Economics at
the Takshila University.
“Education is the best friend. An educated person is
respected everywhere. Education beats the beauty and the
youth,” Chanakya mentioned.
14. Swami Vivekananda
Vivekananda is one of the most popular scholar of India
who is best known for introducing Hinduism at the
Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago in 1893. He
propagated the Gurukula system and once said, “Education
is the manifestation of perfection already in men.” His
teachings were still followed in various aspects of
education, faith, character building as well as social issues
pertaining to India.
15. Swami Vivekananda

16. Vinoba Bhave
Vinoba Bhave was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1983 for
his contribution in the social sector. He was honoured with
the title “Acharya’ (Sanskrit teacher) and was awarded the
Ramon Magsaysay Award in the year 1958 for his
contribution in the humanitarian work.
