4. KUTCH STYLE OF EMBROIDERY
• Rabari shepherds, Kambi farming and Ahir herding castes are the main
practitioners of Kutch style of embroidery.
• Got its root from ‘Mochi’
• Characteristics
• Open-chain stitching
• Profuse use of mirrors in case of Rabari and Ahir

• It was originally practiced by
pastoral community/ nomadic
sheep herders settled in Kuch.
• Are patronage by royal family.
• They identify themselves as Gops
or herdsmen who came with
Krishna to Dwarka.
