Advanced Imaging for Best Assessement
3. Purpose
S Brain micro motion has been previously studied with MRI
S Low spatial/temporal resolution, sensibility
S No off the shelf sequence, no dynamic representation of
motion (Soellinger1)
S Investigate if phase-based EVM coupled with optical flow
post processing on routine cinematic (CINE) TrueFISP
sequence is capable of revealing and quantifying brain
micro motion.
4. Materials and Methods
S Monocentric retrospective study from january 2014 to june
2014.
S 5 healthy volunteers, 26 to 55 years of age
S Axial TrueFISP CINE (Reubelt2) (40 phases), lateral ventricles
plane
S 3T MRI
S EVM (Wadhwa3) – phase based Eulerian Video Magnification
S Post processing, ground truth validated
S 50 fold Magnifcation factor
S Motion quantification before and after EVM
S Optical flow method (Xavier4)
S ROIs : Scalp, Ventricles, Central and Peripheral Brain structures
9. Conclusion
S EVM permits to reveal and quantify brain motion with off
the shelf TrueFISP sequences
S Applications in neuroradiology needs to be investigated
S Hydrocephalus : NPH
S Tumor characterization : vascular tumors
S Motion reduction post processing : fMRI
S Tissue stiffness assessment (general diagnostic imaging)
