The Agro-Dealership Voucher Scheme in Zimbabwe, implemented by USAID/AfriCare from December 2009 to May 2011, aimed to enhance the livelihoods of rural smallholder farmers by improving access to agricultural inputs. The project benefitted 25,338 farmers, facilitated better relationships between market actors, and provided local agro-dealers with start-up capital and training. Key lessons included the importance of timely and transparent processes, while recognizing that vouchers are a tool, not a permanent solution for sustainability.
