The 'Making Markets Work for Smallholder Farmers & Rural Producers' project in Bangladesh significantly improved livelihoods in the Gaibandha district, achieving a 200% increase in business transactions and a 300% rise in paravet incomes since its launch in 2007. By enhancing access to credit, facilitating participatory market mapping, and fostering collaboration among local market actors, the project addressed critical barriers faced by smallholder farmers and improved their income opportunities. Key outcomes include increased investments in dairy production and tools for paravets, resulting in better services for 24,397 farmers and a more resilient market system.
