Riddling Your Way into a Child’s Attention Span
Posted on November 14, 2013 by play2964
Have you ever noticed that amazed look on a child’s face
when they hear music, rhymes or see vibrant colors? The
visual and audio senses of a child create fascinating ways
to gain their attention. Some of these methods can be
used to increase their learning absorption rate as well.
Playtime educational games can be a great way to help
your child advance their learning skills tremendously.
Using tools such as riddles and rhymes can help a child to
build their vocabulary and word association skills simultaneously, in addition to creating
memorization tools for nearly any subject.
While many parents already know and appreciate how great riddles can be when creating
games to play with their kids, however, most do not realize how much there are actually
heightening their child’s mind, getting the wheels turning as they hear the word play and
sound vibrations. Riddles have always been known as the fun game-like word play that is
typically used to engage babies with simple language ease the bedtime jitters of any child
and challenge school-aged children into thinking on their own. However, children can use
various skills strengthened by riddles well into their college careers in most cases.
For example, many elementary school students are taught various rhymes, riddles and
playtime educational games that are associated with English spelling, language, vocabulary,
days of the months or even mathematical equations. Unlike rhymes, riddles engage the
brain into thinking outside the box, so to speak, giving a child the ability to break down
sentences, separate emotion from fact instantly and use logic to obtain their answer.
Not sure where to start when compiling your master list of riddles to test out? Many
studies have shown that children are more engaged by riddles that incorporate things that
they can relate to such as characters, animals, shapes and sounds. While adding music to
riddle equations can also be very effective and increase other skills such as memory,
hearing and multi-tasking, many parents prefer to implement additional tools to their
riddle routines at a gradual pace not to risk their child’s focus.
