FORCE AND PRESSURE
Force IT is a push/pull. SI unit(Newton)(N)

Friction It is a force that opposes motion and it
Force occurs when 2 surfaces are rubbing
           against each other

Magnetic Magnetic force occurs between magnets
Force and magnetic objects
Gravity Gravity can only be attracted towards
Force the centre of the earth

Pressure Is a force acting per unit area. SI unit
           N/m2 or Pa(pascal)

Weight The force of gravity that acts on the
           objects. SI unit( Newton)(N)
FORCE AND WORK

Moment of The turning effect of the force. It turn
force the object at a point called the
          pivot/fulcrum.(Nm)
Machine Is a device that helps us to do work
          easily

Lever It is a simple machine that turns about a
fixed point. It consists of the effort, load
            and fulcrum.
Work A specific task accomplished . There
must be a force and distance moved in
the direction of the force. Joule(J)

Moment of Force(n) x Perpendicular distance from
force the force to the pivot.(m)
HEAT AND THE EFFECTS

Thermal When heated , size and volume increase
expansion

Thermal When cooled, size and volume
contraction decrease.

Substance Volume increases but its mass remains
expands the same. Density decreases.

Substance Volume decreases , mass remains the
contracts same. Density increases.

Bimetallic Made up of 2 different metals joined
strip together.

Thermostat A device that controls the temp of the
           appliances. Eg: Electric iron
TRANSMISSION OF HEAT ENERGY
Heat It is a form of energy

Conduction Movement of heat through a
             material without the obvious
movement and the flow of the
             material itself
Convection Movement of heat energy from one
part of a fluid to another by the
             movement of the fluid itself.
Radiation Is the transfer of heat energy through a
vaccum in the form of infared
             radiation.
CHANGING MATTER

Physical No new substance is formed.
               It is usually reversible.
Chemical A new substance is formed
               It is usually irreversible.
Chemical: A process whereby 2 or more
Combination substances combine to form a new
               substance.
Chemical: A substance breaks up into two or
Thermal more simpler substances when
decomposition heated.
Chemical: Is a process whereby a substance
Combustion combines with oxygen In the air.
Chemical: Cause substances to decompose
Electrolysis into simpler substances.
