1. The Hunzazúa well
The Hunzazúa water well, formerly known as Donato's well, is an archaeological park of the Muisca
culture, located in the north of the city of Tunja-Colombia, next to the Pedagogical and
Technological University of Colombia on the north avenue
.
Legend has it that Hunzahúa (first Zaque de Tunja), loved his sister,
Mother Cacica, knowing the seriousness of the situation of the relationship between the two
brothers, punishes her daughter with the stick of mixing chicha (corn drink),the chief threw a stick at
her daughter, broke the mucura or clay pot full of chicha, which was watered abundantly to form a
large bottomless well
The Hunzazua well is remembered because there the chief Quemuentatocha threw gold and
emeralds to hide them from the Spanish.
There is also evidence of one of the most important indigenous cultures in Colombia: such as stone
paths, huts and some of the columns of the legendary solar temple of Goranchacha, monoliths
dating from pre-Columbian times.
