This document discusses how to educate students of the "Net Generation" or those born in the late 1990s and 2000s. It argues that today's K-12 students use technology in collaborative, inquiry-based learning and teachers must use technology to help transform knowledge. It notes key differences in how Net Gen students approach and process information compared to older generations, focusing more on images than text and preferring freedom of choice and customization. The document recommends educators focus on lifelong learning rather than tests, empower student collaboration, and get to know each student as individuals to best educate the Net Gen in the digital age.

My presentation at the 5th Sequencing FInishing and Analysis in the Future (SFAF -- http://www.lanl.gov/conferences/finishfuture/2010SFAF_Meeting_Guide.pdf) June 3, 2010
The flood of nextgen sequencing data is changing the landscape of computation biology, pushing the need for more robust infrastructures, tools, and visualization techniques.
Course Tech 2013, Mark Frydenberg, Student Voices in the World of Social and ...Cengage Learning
Social media and mobile devices have changed how today’s students behave and learn. The social web has put
students in a world where being digitally literate, constantly-connectedmulti-taskers is expected. Instructors
respond with new teaching methods such as the flipped classroomand collaborative learning environments to
promote student engagement, but do these activities help students translate their technology skills into a
professional context? This session explores the impact of social and digital media on student learning and ways that
faculty and students can use these tools to engage with each other both inside and outside the classroom.
At a meeting of school principals and educational-policy makers from in and around Chennai, I had the opportunity to talk about how I felt IT in the classroom could be used to reach the UNreached.
This presentation, originally presented in Second Life to the NC Distance Learning Association, explores how video games and virtual worlds can be valuable tools for instruction and shares resources that teachers might use to incorporate gaming into their curriculum.

No child left untableted - a snapshot of mobile education technology for K-12Erin Daniels
Schools are finally catching on to the amazing opportunity that tablets bring to engage students to promote learning and skill building. With the expansive efforts to bring iPads to the classroom, students are tapping in to the opportunity to learn using the most natural and easy to use platform for delivering learning. Teachers are also discovering new tools to use in curriculum design and lesson planning to engage students while meeting Common Core State Standards (CCSS). From learning “games” to gesture-based exercises to content delivery, students are learning from the most easy-to-use device available on the market today.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
