7. ISIS
Who is ISIS
• Started as an al Qaeda splinter group. Also known as Islamic State
in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Islamic State (IS). ISIS aims to
create an Islamic state called a caliphate across Iraq, Syria and
beyond. The group is implementing Sharia Law, rooted in eighth
century Islam, to establish a society that mirrors the region's ancient
past. Source -http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/08/world/isis-fast-

8. Returning ISIS Soldiers
In recent months, ISIS has lost territorial control of much of its
"caliphate" and that has been exacerbated by the fall of the key cities of
Raqqa and Mosul. The deteriorating situation for the group across Syria
and Iraq has prompted an exodus with an estimated 5,600 foreign
fighters returning to their home countries. That's according to The
Soufan Center, a U.S.-based think tank which says that 33 countries
have reported arrivals over the past two years.
