INTRODUCTION
 B.Ed.: Bachelor of education.
 Duration: 2 years or 4 semester.
 The course work combined with rigorous
practice of teaching prepares teacher trainees
to master the art of teaching and the ability to
deal with students based on their individual
differences in various classroom situations.
AIMS OF BACHELOR OF
EDUCATION
 To prepare potential teachers to understand the
psychological and sociological aspects of child’s
development, and their behavior under different
conditions.
 To develop the understanding and ability in the
pupil teacher for effective teaching- learning
process at secondary level
 To prepare dedicated teachers (who work for the
betterment of the education system)
 To provide opportunities to pupil teacher to
enhance their knowledge construction abilities.
 To train the pupil teachers in such a way that they
can meet the diversified needs of the students.

To enable the pupil teachers to:
 know and understand the constitutional provisions related to the
education.
 know and understand the basics/ fundamentals associated in the
discipline of education and in a process to be a teacher from the
philosophical perspectives.
 to understand the working of the policies of education set up before and
after independence and to reflect on these policies and in future make
suggestions to improve them.
 to develop an understanding of the issues related to inequality,
discrimination, social injustice and how education can work as a tool to
remove these atrocities.
 to familiarize with the various schemes and incentives taken by the
government to improve the education system in our society.
 know and understand the various aspects related to the teacher
education in the changing contemporary society .
PHILOSOPHICAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL

To enable the pupil teachers to:
 know and understand the fundamentals of the western philosophy
on education.
 know and understand the Indian thinkers who contributed in
education.
 know and understand the different aspects of social and political
set up in context of teacher education.
 promote reflective thinking among students.
 sharpen their perception of the concepts involved in educational
practice.
 enhance their capacity to formulate responses to the reality of
education.
CHILHOOD AND GROWING UP
To enable the pupil teachers to:
 understand the concept of growth and development & familiarize
them with different developmental stages.
 understand the various factors such as individual differences,
affecting personality development.
 study the various theories related to developmental stages.
 understand and reflect on the implications of various theories on
the curriculum development, classroom practices, pedagogic
practices and to create democratic learning environment.
 develop the ability to make up their own classroom activities
according to the needs of students.
KNOWLEDGE ACROSS THE CURRICULUM
To enable the pupil teachers to:
 analyze the structure of knowledge as reflected in disciplinary
streams and subjects.
 notice the links between disciplines and school subjects.
 examine the structure of the school curriculum from the primary to
the secondary stages.
 encourage students to reflect on their own education and notice
how their interests and capacities have been shaped by the
structure of curriculum and other external factors.
ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING
To enable the pupil teachers to:
 Understand the basic concepts of assessment, evaluation, various test
forms and the idea of comprehensive and continuous evaluation in regards
to RTE.
 examine the various evaluation approaches associated with different
assessment paradigms and applying them in classroom.
 Analyze the current assessment techniques and the impact they have on
the students learning, motivation and identity.
 Understand and apply the various approaches of learning in the classroom
and developing the ability to make up the indicators for assessment.
 Appraise the role and value of feedback in the students learning,
motivation and identity.
 Understand the various methods of providing effective feedback to the
students.
EDUCATIONAL PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT
To enable the pupil teachers to:
 know and understand the Educational Management &
Organizational set up and its contribution in the school.
 know and understand the different Management approaches to deal
with the Educational Management.
 know and understand the Budget aspects of the Institutional
Budget regarding the investment and the expenditure.
 be skillful in organizing various human Resource Management
Program for the Awareness as well as to coordinate with the
agencies.
TEACHING AND LEARNING
To enable the pupil teachers to:
 Understand the meaning of psychology, child psychology &
educational psychology.
 Reflect on the various theories of intelligence and their implication
in current classroom scenarios.
 Familiarize with various approaches of learning and to understand
the implication in the current classroom scenarios.
 Develop understanding of different methods of learning and
learning styles.
 Understand the concept of motivation and role of teachers and
parents in developing motivation.
LANGUAGE ACROSS THE CURRICULUM
To enable pupil teacher to:
 know and understand the basic concept of language.
 study the various language policies.
 understand and reflect on the approaches of language learning and
acquisition given by various philosophers and theorists.
 assess the implication of these theories in current scenarios.
 understand how language and political power are interrelated.
 understand the importance of multilingualism in better
development of cognitive abilities in children.
INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
To enable the pupil teachers to:
 analyze the history of inclusive education and how it is affecting
the current scenario.
 Realize the importance of inclusive education & and role of various
agencies towards inclusion.
 to analyze various laws and provisions set by the government
focusing on no-discrimination in education.
 Know about the meaning and scope of special education
 Grasp the meaning, specific characteristics and mode of
identification of some types of exceptional learners.
GENDER SCHOOL AND SOCIETY
To enable the pupil teacher to:
 study the basic concept of gender, school and society.
 inspect the relationship between gender, school & society.
 understand that social disparities are present and how they affect
the education system and how they can be curbed.
 appraise the effects of gender inequality in schools and how these
can be removed.
 know and analyze the provisions and schemes started by the
government and non government agencies to remove gender
disparities through the help of education.
GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING
To enable teachers to:
 understand the concept of guidance and counseling.
 study the various tools and techniques of guidance and counseling.
 set up a comfortable atmosphere with the students and parents.
 able to assess the strengths and learning difficulties of students.
 collect data from the students from the various techniques.
 assess and analyze the collected data and help the students
according to their needs.
 provide educational, vocational and personal guidance to the
students.
PEDAGOGY SUBJECTS
To enable the pupil teachers to:
 understand various disciplines through their philosophical and
epistemological perspectives.
 acquaint themselves with the concept of discipline as an
integrated/ interdisciplinary area of study.
 familiarize with the concept of curriculum, text-books and co-
curricular activities related to the discipline.
 develop knowledge about the basic principles governing the
particular discipline.
 understand the importance of microteaching to the pupil teachers.
 prepare a lesson plan & acquire competency to prepare lesson
plans for teaching particular discipline.
 understand the various assessment methods and techniques
needed to assess the students in various disciplines.
EPC: ENHANCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL
CAPACITY
These courses will enable the pupil teacher to:
 develop understanding of courses that will help the pupil teachers
to enhance the skills needed in the professional service.
 practice these skills beforehand so as to perfect them so that the
children get the best learning outcomes through them.
These includes:
 Critical understanding of ICT in education
 Arts , crafts and aesthetics
 Performing arts etc.
FIELD EXPERIENCE
Field experience is divided into two parts:
SCHOOL INTERACTION: a short term experience
 This will enable the pupil teacher to observe all the working of the school
by becoming a shadow teacher and reflect on them on a day to day basis.
SCHOOL INTERNSHIP: a long term field experience
 To work in the school under a more experienced educator and learning the
ropes through them in actual school setting.
 From actual teaching practices to organizing various school activities and
programs, school internship will help you master your skills in the best way
possible.
ACTION RESEARCH
To enable the pupil- teachers to:
 define the concept of research and action research
 explain the steps of action research.
 describe in detail the dynamics of action research in educational
contexts.
 demonstrate development and execution of action research project.

INTRODUCTION  B.Ed.: Bachelor of education.  Duration: 2 years or 4 semester.  The course work combined with rigorous practice of teaching prepares teacher trainees to master the art of teaching and the ability to deal with students based on their individual differences in various classroom situations.

AIMS OF BACHELOR OF EDUCATION  To prepare potential teachers to understand the psychological and sociological aspects of child’s development, and their behavior under different conditions.  To develop the understanding and ability in the pupil teacher for effective teaching- learning process at secondary level  To prepare dedicated teachers (who work for the betterment of the education system)  To provide opportunities to pupil teacher to enhance their knowledge construction abilities.  To train the pupil teachers in such a way that they can meet the diversified needs of the students.
