The INTASC standards outline what beginning teachers should know and be able to do in 10 areas. The standards cover key aspects of teaching including understanding content knowledge and student development, using diverse instructional strategies, motivating students, communicating effectively, planning instruction, assessing student learning, engaging in reflective practice, and involvement with the school community. The standards provide a framework for assessing new teachers and are designed to help ensure students' intellectual, social, and personal growth.
