 One year -can avail only one project/ scheme of the UGC at any given time
 Permanent teacher in Govt. or Private (U/ S 2(f) and 12 B )
 Minor Research Project in Sciences including Engineering & Technology,
Medical, Pharmacy Agriculture etc. - Rs. 5.00 lacs.
 Minor Research Project in Humanities, Social Science, Languages,
Literature, Arts, Law and allied disciplines - Rs. 3.00 lacs.

One Time Grant Scheme
At least two years service should be there before the date of
superannuation.
A minimum of 15 Ph.Ds produced during the service period
on the date of superannuation and at least 5 Ph.Ds during the last
five years.
Should have successfully completed at least five sponsored
research projects funded by the National / International funding
agencies and / or industries with details of quantum of funds
received.
Under this “One-Time Grant” Scheme Rs.7.00 lakhs is
provided for a teacher to do research.

Eligibility
Social scientists who are regularly employed or retired as faculty in a UGC
are eligible to apply.
Procedure for Award
Applications are initially scrutinised by the ICSSR Secretariat.
Thereafter Expert Committee(s) will short-list the meritorious proposals.
Such applicants would then be invited for an interaction/presentation
Applicants of Minor Projects may be exempted from
interaction/presentation.

ICSSR-IMPRESS
 Impactful Policy Research in Social Science (IMPRESS) aims to
encourage social science research in policy relevant areas so as
to provide vital inputs in policy-formulation, implementation
and evaluation.
 The IMPRESS is an initiative of the Ministry of Human
Resource Development, Government of India and is being
implemented by the Indian Council of Social Science Research.
 The budget for Minor Projects would be up to Rs. 4.99 lakh.
 For Major Projects, it could be Rs. 5-15 lakh.
 Large inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional studies
involving a number of scholars, could also be from Rs 15-50
lakh or above.

 IMPRINT is the first of its kind MHRD supported Pan-IIT + IISc
joint initiative to address the major science and engineering
challenges that India must address and champion to enable,
empower and embolden the nation for inclusive growth and self-
reliance. This novel initiative with twofold mandate is aimed at:
(a) Developing new engineering education policy
(b) Creating a road map to pursue engineering challenges

The Scheme for Promotion of Academic and
Research Collaboration (SPARC) aims at
improving the research ecosystem of India’s
Higher Educational Institutions by facilitating
academic and research collaborations between
Indian Institutions and the best institutions
in the world from 28 selected nations to jointly
solve problems of national and/or
international relevance.

STARS
 Scheme for Transformational and Advanced Research in
Sciences (STARS) for promoting translational, India-centric
research in Sciences, to be implemented, monitored and
managed by Indian Instituteof Science (IISc), Bangalore.
 The following 6 basic thrust domains have been identified:

 Chemistry
 Biological Sciences
 Nano sciences
 Data Sciences & Mathematics and
 Earth Sciences.

Indian Council of Historical Research
 The Research Projects Committee may award a grant for
a project of research in History or on a theme
substantively including an aspect or aspects of History,
undertakenwithin India.
 Project Director should be significant competence in
research work, having been awarded his/her PhD or
equivalent research work.
 Project grants to institutions will not exceed Rs 5 lakhs
fora maximum period of two years.

 Research in agricultural operations and rural development,
including facilities for training, dissemination of information
and promotion of research by undertaking techno-economic
studies and other surveys in the fields of agriculture, rural
banking and rural development.
 The study has to be completed in all respect within 6 months
from the date of acceptance of the offer/terms and conditions
of the project.

 Reserve Bank has been financing research projects
since 1985 under the endowment scheme..
 Bank may identify internal team/ researcher(s) to be a
part of the research project.
 The magnitude of the grant for projects will be based
on the need and nature of the project.
 Funding of the project has to be a one-time amount
(budgeted) taking into account all factors during the
period of the project.

Indian Institute of Banking & Finance
 Under the Macro Research scheme, the Institute
invites proposals from research scholars from
universities, colleges and banks to take up research in
identified areas.
 The selected research project carries a cash award of
Rs.2,50,000/-
 final research report should be submitted within a
maximum period of six months.

 Malcolm & Elizabeth Adiseshiah Trust, Chennai
 This grant is mainly confined to Autonomous colleges
/ Universities functioning within the State.
 Trust sends letters sometime during January /
February to Autonomous colleges asking them to send
research proposals on socially relevant subjects before
March.
 Proposals received by the Trust are placed before the
Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) for selecting
the best ten or twelve among them for assistance.

Lady Tata Memorial Trust
 The Trust invites applications from recognized Indian Institutions,
research laboratories and leading scientific / medical centers doing
scientific research work in the diseases of the blood, with special
emphasis on leukaemia research, and for research in alleviation of
human suffering from diseases.
The quantum of grant to be sanctioned depends on the topic of
research, duration of research, and the panel of investigators, as
reviewed and recommended by the Indian Scientific Advisory
Committee of the Trust. The research grant does not allow for capital
equipment, nor for any publication, or travel abroad.

 Eligibility
 This grant is mainly confined to teachers who are working in
Universities/Colleges/ research institutions functioning within
India.
 The applicant should become a Fellow member of the IARA.
Nature of Assistance
 The IARA provides a maximum sum of Rs. 50,000 as financial
assistance for a research project.

A minimum of 15 Ph.Ds produced during the service period on the date of superannuation and at least 5 Ph.Ds during the last five years. Should have successfully completed at least five sponsored research projects funded by the National / International funding agencies and / or industries with details of quantum of funds received. Under this “One-Time Grant” Scheme Rs.7.00 lakhs is provided for a teacher to do research.

Eligibility Social scientists who are regularly employed or retired as faculty in a UGC are eligible to apply. Procedure for Award Applications are initially scrutinised by the ICSSR Secretariat. Thereafter Expert Committee(s) will short-list the meritorious proposals. Such applicants would then be invited for an interaction/presentation Applicants of Minor Projects may be exempted from interaction/presentation.

GST 06-06-2020 27 ICSSR-IMPRESS  Impactful Policy Research in Social Science (IMPRESS) aims to encourage social science research in policy relevant areas so as to provide vital inputs in policy-formulation, implementation and evaluation.  The IMPRESS is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and is being implemented by the Indian Council of Social Science Research.  The budget for Minor Projects would be up to Rs. 4.99 lakh.  For Major Projects, it could be Rs. 5-15 lakh.  Large inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional studies involving a number of scholars, could also be from Rs 15-50 lakh or above.

GST 06-06-2020 33 STARS  Scheme for Transformational and Advanced Research in Sciences (STARS) for promoting translational, India-centric research in Sciences, to be implemented, monitored and managed by Indian Instituteof Science (IISc), Bangalore.  The following 6 basic thrust domains have been identified:  Physics  Chemistry  Biological Sciences  Nano sciences  Data Sciences & Mathematics and  Earth Sciences.

GST 06-06-2020 35 Indian Council of Historical Research  The Research Projects Committee may award a grant for a project of research in History or on a theme substantively including an aspect or aspects of History, undertakenwithin India.  Project Director should be significant competence in research work, having been awarded his/her PhD or equivalent research work.  Project grants to institutions will not exceed Rs 5 lakhs fora maximum period of two years.

GST 06-06-2020 39 NABARD  Research in agricultural operations and rural development, including facilities for training, dissemination of information and promotion of research by undertaking techno-economic studies and other surveys in the fields of agriculture, rural banking and rural development.  The study has to be completed in all respect within 6 months from the date of acceptance of the offer/terms and conditions of the project.

GST 06-06-2020 41 RBI  Reserve Bank has been financing research projects since 1985 under the endowment scheme..  Bank may identify internal team/ researcher(s) to be a part of the research project.  The magnitude of the grant for projects will be based on the need and nature of the project.  Funding of the project has to be a one-time amount (budgeted) taking into account all factors during the period of the project.

GST 06-06-2020 43 Indian Institute of Banking & Finance  Under the Macro Research scheme, the Institute invites proposals from research scholars from universities, colleges and banks to take up research in identified areas.  The selected research project carries a cash award of Rs.2,50,000/-  final research report should be submitted within a maximum period of six months.

GST 06-06-2020 53 NGO/Private agencies  Malcolm & Elizabeth Adiseshiah Trust, Chennai  This grant is mainly confined to Autonomous colleges / Universities functioning within the State.  Trust sends letters sometime during January / February to Autonomous colleges asking them to send research proposals on socially relevant subjects before March.  Proposals received by the Trust are placed before the Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) for selecting the best ten or twelve among them for assistance.

GST 06-06-2020 55 Lady Tata Memorial Trust  The Trust invites applications from recognized Indian Institutions, research laboratories and leading scientific / medical centers doing scientific research work in the diseases of the blood, with special emphasis on leukaemia research, and for research in alleviation of human suffering from diseases. The quantum of grant to be sanctioned depends on the topic of research, duration of research, and the panel of investigators, as reviewed and recommended by the Indian Scientific Advisory Committee of the Trust. The research grant does not allow for capital equipment, nor for any publication, or travel abroad.
