4. INTRODUCTION
A Conventional 4- stroke SI Engine has single Spark plug
located at one end of combustion chamber ,hence
inefficient combustion is take place which leads to --
• increases fuel consumption
• higher exhaust emission
• reduces average power
hence, The overall ENGINE Performance is degraded,
To Overcome these , A Revolutionary new technology is
come into existence known as “ DTSI- TECHNOLOGY ” which
is patened by “bajajauto”.

5. so ,what does dts-I means ??
Here why called so,
Digital - as sparks are initiated & controlled by ECU.
Triple - as three spark plugs are used.
Spark ignition - as ignition is done via sparks

6. CHARACTERISTICSof engine
The DTS-I System consists of :-
► three spark plugs
► two inlet valves
► two outlet valves
► a ECU

7. Two inlet valves allow the fresh charges to come freely into the
combustion chamber in suction stroke & The two outlet valve expel
the exhaust gases smoothly in exhaust stroke.
This helps the engine breathe easily even at high RPMs.

8. • Out of three , one is master plug that takes the center place
while two slave plugs place across the lateral axis of the engine
head (approximately 90 deg. to each other).

9. WORKING:-
The ignition of three spark plugs is controlled electronically by
ECU
based on Load, Engine rpm, Engine temperature .
The ECU senses different riding condition
To ensure that the flame propagation in combustion chamber is
optimal.

 Requires more investment at time of replacing spark
plugs.
 This makes the size of the Engine little bit bulky .
 Engine cost is relatively more than conventional one.

Since , this technology meets the Present Generation want and
also minimize the fuel consumption & harmful emission levels
SO, it can be considered as one of the solution for increasing
“ fuel costs ” and increasing effect of “ Global warming ”.
