 Q2. Name the elements that determine the weather of a place.
 Q3. When are the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to occur
during the day?
 Q. 4. Complete the following table:
Weather variable Instrument used to measure
Temperature
rainfall
Humidity
windspeed
 Q1. Define weather?
The day- to-day condition of the atmosphere at a place with
respect to the temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed is called
at that place
Q2. Name the elements that determine the weather of a place.
temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed
Q3.When are the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to occur
during the day?
 The maximum temperature of the day occurs generally in the afternoon
 while the minimum temperature occurs in the early morning.
Q. 4. Complete the following table:
Weather variable Instrument used to measure
Temperature thermometer
rainfall Rain gauge
Humidity hygrometer
windspeed anemometer
 Q5. what is climate of the place?
 Q6. Name two regions of the earth, which have severe climatic conditions.
 Q7. Give some adaptation of animals in cold climates?
 Give another means besides adaptation that helps animals survive in
extreme climates?
 Give scientific reasons huge populations of plants and animals are found in
the tropical rainforests
 Give some adaptations of animals living in tropical regions.
 Give some adaptations of
(a)The lion-tailed macaque (also called Beard ape
(b)The Indian elephant
Q. Give another means besides adaptation that helps animals survive in
extreme climates?
Migration is another means to escape the harsh, cold conditions.
Q Give scientific reasons huge populations of plants and animals are found in
the tropical rainforests
Because of the hospitable climatic conditions huge populations of plants
and animals are found in the tropical rainforests.
Q. Give some adaptations of animals living in tropical regions.
 Some adaptations of animals living in the tropical rainforests include
 living on the trees,-Red-eyed frog, monkeys,lion-tailed macaque(Beard ape)
 development of strong tails,
 long and large beaks,-Toucan
 bright colours,
 sharp patterns,
 loud voice,
 diet of fruits,
 sensitive hearing, lions and tigers)
 sharp eyesight,
 thick skin,
 ability to camouflage in order to protect themselves from predators, etc.
