Class Management: Routines and Procedures
Learn Lots, Make friends, and Have Fun!
These are a few of the important routines we practice each day. By following these, listening, and working hard in class each day you will have a tremendous school year! I can’t wait to get started!
Table Leaders: Responsible for getting materials (text books, paper, whiteboards, etc.) and putting them away.
Restroom Breaks: We will use the restrooms just down the hall from our room. These restrooms are shared by 1st, 2nd, and 4th graders, so remember your manners and the fact that you are the oldest students in the school and will be looked up to as an example of how to act.
Hallway: We will walk quietly and together whenever we go to another class or location in the school. We will not disturb other classes’ learning as we move through the building.
Homework: You will have approximately 40 minutes of homework most nights. Plan on spending 20 minutes on reading and 20 minutes on math. Sometimes the homework will be assigned work to finish and be returned to class. Other times the work will be your choice such as learning games, web sites, or other activities.
Snack: Plan on bringing a healthy snack each day to school. We have a late lunch and you will need energy to learn and do your best.
Class Supplies: Pencil boxes, extra folders and papers, and other school supplies will be kept in your locker. You will bring in your planner, homework folder with completed work, and a book to read each day as you enter the room in the morning.
Getting Help when the Teacher is Busy
There will be times when you will need help and I’m busy with another student. When this happens, reread directions, ask another student at your table, and try again on your own, repeat this process if needed.
Telephone Use
Phone use is only for an emergency.
Expectations:
Be prepared
Listen respectfully
Respect others and their property
Work hard and do your best
Be involved
Behavior Policy
Class Rules:
Follow directions and listen
Respect people and things
Be RESPONSIBLE
Consequences:
Verbal warning
Name in my notebook
A check with a 5 minute time out
If needed during the week, students may be given a warning prior to having their name in my notebook. Once a student has their name there he or she will not receive a stamp in their planner for the day. I will just initial the planner. Ask your son or daughter why they did not receive a stamp for the day. (They should be able to tell you.) If a student misses 2 stamps for the week they may miss some of their Friday fun time. Students can also not receive a stamp if homework was not completed.
