Description of the group: Grade 6A. Beginning level of English language
proficiency. State primary school. 80-minutes a week. There are fifteen students in
the class (7 girls and 8 boys). Students’ age: 11-12-13 years old. There are a couple
of students that represent a challenge for the teacher as they normally misbehave
hindering the teaching and the flow of the lesson. There are occasions when they
show certain interest in the activities planned by the teacher, although, there are a
constant effort to get their attention to carry out the activities.
Lesson n° 5, September 17th: “Spinning the wheel of prepositions”

Introduction
In this lesson, young learners will be introduced with a “spin the wheel” game
featuring instructions. The lesson aims at revising prior knowledge. This activity will
involve visual and auditory response that stimulates their visual-spatial intelligence,
creativity and an active response to the instructions. Afterwards, they will work on
an activity from the booklet related to prepositions to finish the lesson.

4. Spin the wheel game

Brief review of prepositions. Ask
students what they remember about the
previous class.
In this lesson we will work with a wheel
game that displays many entries
containing different instructions (For
example: Draw a dog next to the sofa)
and with a worksheet of a house
containing different rooms with few
objects. We will ask a different student
each time to spin the wheel and to read
aloud the instruction. Students are
expected to draw what is asked in such
instruction. They will be given certain
time to draw the object according to the
difficulty of the drawing. For example:
“you have 30 second to draw an apple
on the table”.

the pictures and complete the

under, in or on. They will be
helped whenever it is necessary
by trainees.
Lesson n° 6, September 18th: “Putting in practice my knowledge”

Procedure
“Home sweet home” crossword ● We will indicate the students to
open the booklet and to solve a
puzzle we prepared for them.
● In this activity, students are
expected to match the words to
the correct pictures and complete
the crossword. Finally, they will
find a secret message. For this
task, trainees will indicate, help
and accompany them in the
whole process. Once they finish
the activities, they will be
checked.
