Editorial
his year is coming to an end and so it’s time to look back and reflect on
our year.
Lots of things happened in 2014. The network of Frotcom Certified
Partners continued to grow and take Frotcom even further, and the company
continued to increase in revenues. Frotcom has clearly become one of the top
professional solutions for vehicle tracking and fleet management, and is
respected worldwide for the comprehensive and user-friendly set of tools it
encompasses.
Also this year, Frotcom International was the recipient of the PME Líder award
and joined the elite group of companies regarded as the ‘engine’ of the
Portuguese economy – companies that constantly pursue growth strategies and
demonstrate competitive leadership.
On a personal level, I have to say that it’s much easier to launch a startup than
to have that startup jump over the dangerous gap of no man’s land, when your
company is too big to be small and too small to be big… a feeling certainly
shared by many fellow entrepreneurs.
Challenges are encountered almost on a daily basis and we must keep our eyes
focussed on our goals and targets and never let go of the steering wheel. It is a
very interesting journey, although a bit different from the one a startup is faced
with.
I am fully aware that the success of this project is only possible due to all the
people with whom I have been privileged to work: my colleagues in Frotcom
International and our local Partners. It is not easy to have a continuously
growing business, year after year, without compromising on quality and
commitment to customers, but I believe we have achieved exactly that!
What we have achieved, we achieved together.
Thank you all.
Finally, let me take the opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Valério Marques, CEO - Frotcom International

New Features
100% Plug & Play tracking solution for light vehicles
Frotcom is now empowered with a Plug & Play tracking solution, especially
applicable for companies with light vehicles, needing to change the vehicles in
the fleet often.
Frotcom’s Plug & Play is a tracking solution that uses a dongle connected directly
to the vehicle’s OBD2 socket. The installation does not require any special
knowledge or skills, and it can be easily inserted by you.
“We can change the
tracking device in the
blink of an eye. It is that
simple!”
This easy-to-fit device is capable of gathering some basic information from the
vehicle’s ECU (Electronic Control Unit), such as engine speed, engine
temperature, information about DTCs (Diagnostics Trouble Codes) and fuel level
(in % of the tank capacity), depending on the exact information available from
each vehicle.
The four main benefits of Frotcom’s Plug & Play tracking solution:
Decreased installation time and set up costs
Installation can be done directly by you
Enhanced customer service
Avoid delays and inform customers when you predict a delay
Better business planning
Know exactly what you can demand from your fleet
Flexibility
Reuse the same device in different vehicles whenever needed
Ready to install the dongle?
Just plug it into the vehicle’s OBD2 socket and start tracking.

#SaveKidsLives campaign
goes live globally
Hosted at www.savekidslives2015.org,
#SaveKidsLives is the official campaign
for the Third UN Global Road Safety
Week which will take place in May
2015.
The focal point of the campaign is a
‘Child Declaration for Road Safety’
which reflects the voices of children
around the world, their demands for
road safety and concerns when
travelling on the roads.
The Declaration is a joint effort
between children and experts at the
UN Road Safety Collaboration – and as
such is a call for policy makers to
implement the life saving measures of
the Decade of Action for Road Safety.
The Declaration is also a call for a
target to reduce road fatalities globally
to be included in the UN’s post-2015
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
so that children everywhere can be
kept safe on the world’s roads. (…)
The campaign asks people to sign the
Declaration, to take a ‘safie’ photo with
the campaign signboards to show
support, and then around May 2015 to
deliver the Declaration to policy
makers at all levels around the world.

Frotcom Cyprus COO, in interview
with In Business magazine
Before the 8th
Supply Chain and Logistics Summit,
where Frotcom Cyprus showcased Frotcom, Michalis
Christodoulides, Chief Operations Officer at Frotcom
Cyprus, was interviewed by In Business magazine1
.
In the interview, Michalis Christodoulides talked
about Frotcom and mentioned some of its modules,
accessories and the main benefits for companies in
the supply chain and logistics field.
He went on to say how companies faced March 2013 bail-in plan forced by
Eurogroup; when most of the companies decided to freeze their investments,
but some other companies proceeded with the installation of vehicle trackers
and fleet management systems to be able to control and reduce operating costs.
Michalis Christodoulides took the opportunity to list the numerous competitive
advantages and benefits achieved by companies that want to install Frotcom, to
control and manage the fleet’s operations, and how this enabled them to
provide better customer service.
In addition, Michalis said “companies do not need a simple monitoring system,
what they really need is an intelligent vehicle system, that has the right tools for
companies to achieve their specific operational requirements”.

Case Study
Amigos Transport is saving 7% in fuel costs with Frotcom
Amigos Transport d.o.o. is a Slovenian company based in Ljubljana, and has been
working in the transportation and distribution of goods since 2004.
The fleet comprises 18 trucks, all of them in accordance with the emissions
legislation EURO 5, EEV and Euro 6, and traceable by Frotcom’s vehicle tracking and
fleet intelligence solution.
Client Challenges
Amigos Transport needed a solution capable of managing its fleet operations,
controlling the costs involved, opening the way to accommodate more tasks. The
company began its search for a GPS fleet tracking solution, that would be able to
gather all of these functionalities.
Frotcom Slovenia’s Approach
After being referred by a Frotcom Slovenia customer, a meeting was scheduled with
Frotcom Slovenia at Amigos Transport’s office. The company underwent a free trial
using one of its trucks for 2 weeks, and soon concluded that Frotcom was the right
solution to monitor and manage the fleet, fulfilling all their requirements.
Benefits achieved
One of the biggest benefits for Amigos Transport, after implementing the Frotcom
solution, was the ability to track the costs of the entire fleet. Using the Cost
Management module the company registers and controls the costs of the fleet (fuel,
maintenance, employees’ wages, etc.) and also calculates the real costs of each
vehicle, as well as real cost/km and other ratios.
By connecting Frotcom to the CANBus circuit in the vehicles, Amigos Transport can
extract relevant truck data to increase vehicle usage efficiency, save fuel, reduce
CO2 emissions, and also lower maintenance costs.
Mr. Marko Prijatelj, CEO at Amigos Transport, d.o.o. said,
“Frotcom gives me the big picture of my fleet. It has all the
“bells and whistles” we were looking for. Now I just need
to enter the costs in Frotcom and calculate them for a
certain period. I have to tell you, this made my job easier.
We are also glad for the constant free updates and new
Frotcom functionalities”.
He concluded saying, “More tasks are being completed with less kilometres, thanks
to Route Optmimization. Driving behaviour also has changed, and the fleet is now
more efficient. Due to the use of Frotcom we have an average monthly saving of 7%
in fuel costs. Tracking the vehicles and the costs related to them provided even more
benefits to us“.
The use of Frotcom has provided Amigos Transport a better understanding of their
fleet costs and a clear view of fleet operations.
Roadmap congratulates Frotcom Slovenia for this successful project!
