Essay on The World Wide Web
The World Wide Web
Communication––it is a fundamental part of our everyday lives. It characterizes who we are, what
we do, and how we relate to others in society. It is a very powerful tool that holds many different
uses for our basic needs and survival. At a very simplistic level, it is key in attaining our very basic
needs for survival. In that respect, it is key in achieving all needs in Maslows hierarchy. Its uses and
possibilities endless.
Over time, the discoveries that have been made in relation to communication have been
revolutionary in that they have changed the way we live and act dramatically. For example, the
writing on walls, pencils, pens, ink, paper, the printing press, telegraph, telephone, television,...show

This lack of understanding causes fear and a personal defense from utilizing "the web" and all the
possibilities that lie within it. In essence, the concept behind the WorldWide Web is really quite
simple. It is nothing more than "a community of information sites on the Internet computer network"
(Pasadena Public Library). So basically, the World Wide Web is a small part of a greater entity
–the
Internet. The sites, or web pages, are all connected by this network and can be considered a
community because of their common location–the World Wide Web. If you can visualize it, imagine
a large network, the Internet, which connects people and information all over the world. Then
imagine within that network, a community of its own. The World Wide Web has an endless number
of sites, made of web pages, and all of which are connected through the Internet.
So how does one use or "navigate" on the Web? To understand that, one must first understand the
language (that which makes it run, understand and execute commands) the web is based upon. This
language is known as Hypertext Markup Language, which will later be discussed in more detail.
Essentially, it the hypertext language uses "hot words to link pages to each other" (Halonen). The
hot words, which have been termed links, consist of an underlying code, HTML, which is read and
takes the user to the desired destination.
Also, the web uses URL's, Uniform Resource Locators, to locate information. Also

We're able to get informations thanks to the internet, the wild network connecting millions of
computers and other devices across the world. The English computer scientist Tim Berners–Lee
invented the World Wide Web in 1989, after 20 years the first connection was established over what
is today as we known as the Internet. Although the internet has been around since the 1970, but it
was the invention of the World Wide Webthat really changed people's life.
There is a early film which the scenario designed based on web, many previous case exist for the
idea that the real world is an illusion, and the Matrixtrilogy is connected with specific references to
philosophers who have interpreted this idea.
For example, The Greek philosopher...show more content...
In this film, it is suggested that people should be free before they reach a certain age because there
are also some people who will never be able to accept the reality of the world.
The Matrix is another kind of reality that exists in itself. Despite its existence as a simulation, the
actions people perform within the Matrix are perceived by the mind as real. Thus, if you are removed
by the Matrix, you will die in the real world as well because the mind perceives what occurs within
the Matrix as real.
The mind views that all things within the Matrix as real, and despite the fact that the characters have
the ability to bend the laws of physics to perform superhuman feats because they know that the
Matrix is a simulation, they cannot defy the mind's perception of personal injury or death.
The Matrix also has connection with a philosophical question posed by French philosopher Rene
Descartes. One of Descartes's important idea was intellectual autonomy, or the ability to think for
ourselves. He also indicates that we should not just having a "good mind", but also "applying it well".
Descartes realized that his sensory experiences did not always equal to the reality, he used the
example of Wax to demonstrate how unreliable the senses are: our perceptiveness allow us to
know that a piece of wax has a specific smell, shape and texture. But these informations we received
will all change when the wax is got close to a flame.

Essay On World Wide Web
Introduction
A distributed system is a system with a model which is comprised of many components that are
networked by use of computers to enable communication and coordination of passage of messages
between the components in order to achieve a certain goal. The goal maybe a large computational
problem. Coordination of the components comes as a result of different systems communicating to
achieve one goal thus a coordinating mechanism is required. For this paper a deeper analysis on the
World Wide Webwhich is a network application is done.

Documents can however be expressed further by use of scripting languages like HTML and
XML. To process the documents the web was enhanced to support user interaction through use of
Common Gateway Interface (CGI) which defines the standard through which a web server
executes a program using data from the client (Cole, Richard, Vishkin and Uzi, 1986). The data is
gotten from the client as input using the browser and is mostly through use of a HTML form.
The data from the client will specify which program or script is going to be executed at the web
server. Figure 1 above shows the execution of a program on the server side after a request is sent
by the client. The request contains inputs from the user and parameters that specify how the
program will process the input. After execution the server then sends a response to the user. To help
understand this further, a client accesses an online calculator using the URL of the online calculator.
The server then sends a document which consists of the form that the user is supposed to fill in
order to do various computations. The user fills the fields and select which kinds of computations he
or she want s to do and submits to the server. The server will use the input the input from the client
to do the computation and then return a result. No computation is done on the client's computer. The
client only sends requests to the server and the server does all

History of the Web
Sir Tim Berners Lee is the computer scientist who created what people know as the World Wide
Web. After graduating from Oxford University, Berners
–Lee became a software engineer at CERN,
the European Organization for Nuclear Research, near Geneva, Switzerland. Here, Berners–Lee
noticed that scientists were having trouble sharing information. Berners–Lee once stated, "In those
days, there was different information on different computers, but you had to log on to different
computers to get at it. Also sometimes you had to learn a different program on each computer.
Often it was just easier to go and ask people when they were having coffee...".
In the late 1980s, millions of computers were already connected by developing...show more content...
Founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak created Apple Computer on April 1, 1976, and incorporated
the company on January 3, 1977, in Cupertino, California.
Wozniak built each computer by hand, and although he'd wanted to sell them for little more than the
cost of the parts – at a price at that would recoup their outlay as long as they shipped 50 units – Jobs
had a larger view. jobs inked a deal with the Byte Shop in Mountain View to supply it with 50
computers at $500 each. After the store took its cut, the Apple I sold for $666.66. the legend is that
Wozniak liked repeating numbers and was unaware of the 'number of the beast' connection.
On October 5, 2011, Steve Jobs died, marking the end of an era for Apple. The first major product
announcement by Apple following Jobs's passing was iBooks Textbooks for iOS and iBook Author
for Mac OS X. In jobs' autobiography, he stated that he wanted to reinvent education and the textbook
industry.
Today, Apple is the world's largest information technology company by revenue and the world's
third–largest mobile phone manufacturer after Samsung and Huawei. In February 2015, Apple
became the first U.S. company to be valued at over $700 billion US. Apple's most recent release
was on November 3, 2017, the ten year anniversary of Apple, with the iPhone X. With iPhone X, the
device is the display with an all–new 5.8 inch super
