Smart phones are not only limited to making and receiving phone call but they have advanced features such as internet access as well as the capability to send and receive emails and faxes. Smart phones also allow the user to access as well as download media and important information.
Smart phones take productivity to new heights and strengthen employees as well as businessman's client relationships and increase efficiency. Smart phones offer the benefit of giving its user the advantage of being able to work from any were at any time. Smart phones also make it easier for employees to do business away from their office as well as allowing them to store and access all their important documents such as their email, phone numbers and addresses. Another benefit gained is that smart phones improves an employees efficiency in their office for example employees can set memos or reminders on their smart phones about important meeting (appointments) or tasks they need to complete. Smart phones also promote time management and efficiency as their smart phones can alert them about future engagements and meetings they need to attend.
Smart phones promote and increase easy quick communication via multiple smart phone applications such as text messaging, voice calls, multimedia, emails, fax messages and social networks. All these communication mediums make it easier and possible for people to contact friends and family, 68.1% of people who own smart phones use text messaging to keep in charge, 16.7% of people who own smart phones use social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, Youtube, blogging and chat rooms to communicate information. Smart phones make it easier for employees to send and receive information about work related issues, they can also access their documents and work on them from their smart phones. Smart phones also give the advantage of easy, instant communication about social meetings and engagement.
The graph above illustrates how smart phones have penetrated across global markets. From the graph above we can deduce the following results: smart phone usage has penetrated 17% of the US population, 12% of Canada's population, 11% of Frances population, 12% of Germanys population, 28% of Italy's population, 23% of Spain's population, 13% of Sweden's population and 12% of the UK population. From this data we can conclude that smart phones are popular amongst different people from different countries. Developed countries have higher smart phone usage as most people there find smart phones more efficient, easy to use for communication and work life, home life easily balanced.
The statistical information shows us the different ways people use their smart phones for various things. The study was conducted in the USA by BIA/Kelsey in a form of an online questionnaire. The aim of the study was to find out how people use their smart phones for different applications not only for making and receiving phone calls. The study showed that the more popular applications used on smart phones are email, text messaging and connecting to social networks such as facebook and twitter as well as downloading information content and media from the internet. Therefore it is evedent that people depend on and rely on smart phones because thy are efficienty and user friendly.
Smart phones allow students the ability to access information about different academic quires by using their mobile web. They also have the advantage of being able to gain knowledge and understanding from different sources and so use the knowledge for academic purposes.
Smart phones are great devices which enable its user the ability of communicating with people using different methods from anywhere in the world. Smart phones promote efficiency in the work place, promotes social engagement and are handy when used as an educational tool to find and collect information. People use smart phones because they are reliable and make day- to -day planning and life easier. They are great innovative technological tools.
