2. What is poverty?
Poverty is scarcity, dearth, or the state of one
who lacks a certain amount of material
possessions or money.
About 21,000 people die every day of hunger or
hunger-related causes, according to the United
Nations.
This is one person every four seconds, sadly, it is
children who die most often.

4. Volunteering
We can volunteer and work with the community.
For example, we can help charities by going for
flag day.
During flag day, student volunteers from all over
Singapore would congregate on a Saturday
morning and help raise funds.
Even though flag day is primarily a fundraising
event for Singapore Cancer Society, this would
still be helping the poor as many people would
find the treatment for cancer as expensive.
5. Donating
We can also donate money to different charities
which would benefit the poor.
Even though donating money is one of the most
common forms of donations, our group prefers
donating other items such as used textbooks that
are in good condition.
With education, they would be able to get
themselves a job more easily and can possibly
stop the cycle of poverty.
