The Vietnam War was a long battle that lasted from
November 1,1955 to April 30,1975 and took place in
Vietnam and partly in Cambodia and Laos.
Fought between the Communist forces of North Vietnam
and anti-Communist forces of South Vietnam.
Fought because of fear of the spread of communism.
Communist allies: China, Russia, & North Korea
Anti-Communist allies: United States and their allies
(Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, and the Philippines).

5. MR. ANDREW LEE: A HERO
Vietnam War veteran
South Korean
Sixty-six years old
Twenty-one years old when he joined the Marines in 1968.
Served for 13 months.
Voluntarily joined the Marines.
Enjoys playing music.
6. INTERVIEW WITH ANDREW LEE
Joined the army along with his friends.
Was recommended by a soldier to join the army.
He was in branch of military called the Republic of Korea
Marine Corps (ROKMC).
Entertained soldiers by playing instruments with his friends.
Went through basic training for 3 months.
Protected brigade at night to fight off enemies that ambushed
them
Almost died when a bullet flew right through his legs.
Lost one of his friends.
