READING COMPREHENSION OF LEARNING
ENGLISH AS SECOND LANGUAGE.
A good way to understand
reading is to consider what is
required for fluent reading
(Grabe, 2001).
Reading is one of the
components in language learning
Fluent reading is what most good
reader does most of the time when
they read almost anything,
especially in their first language
(Grabe, 2010)
Student tend to dislike reading when
it is being taught and when they are
unable to understand the text.
the students concerns and attitudes
when it comes to reading in English

was originally developed by Wigfield and
Guthrie (1995) to assess different aspects of
student’s reading motivation.

  • 1. CHAPTER ONE ATTITUDE AND MOTIVATION OF KOLEJ POLY- TECH MARA BANGI’ STUDENTS TOWARDS READING COMPREHENSION OF LEARNING ENGLISH AS SECOND LANGUAGE.
  • 2. A good way to understand reading is to consider what is required for fluent reading (Grabe, 2001). Reading is one of the components in language learning
  • 3. Fluent reading is what most good reader does most of the time when they read almost anything, especially in their first language (Grabe, 2010) Student tend to dislike reading when it is being taught and when they are unable to understand the text.
  • 4. the students concerns and attitudes when it comes to reading in English students learning style how students reading patterns affected the reading success to what extend students attitudes and motivations affected their reading behaviour.
  • 5. To investigate students attitude towards reading To measure that significant differences in attitudes when students engage with different reading material To identify students challenges in reading
  • 6. What are the attitudes of KPTM Bangi’s students towards reading? How different reading materials/texts affected students attitudes and motivations? What are the biggest challenges faced by the students?
  • 9.  Motivation for Reading Questionnaire (MRQ)  a student rated assessment of the extent to which each student is motivated to read. It was originally developed by Wigfield and Guthrie (1995) to assess different aspects of student’s reading motivation.
