In what ways does your media
product use, develop or
challenge forms and
conventions of real media
products?

2. Our media product, an opening sequence is
intended to be a horror. We all carried out
product research in order to find and compare
key factors of a horror genre.
Forms of conventions such as the
plot, music used, characters and key
props, were closely looked at.

3. During my product research, I
chose the opening sequence to
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2007).

4. This is a close up shot of a key prop used in the
film. Genres such as horror, would have key props
that are usually used to kill the victim. The key
prop in this screen shot, is a chainsaw.

5. I saw several similarities between this film and our own
project idea. Our media product contains characters related
to those in horror films, such as the victim and the villain;
where Jack was the victim and Nyanewel was the villain.

6. The locations where we set our opening sequence was
also a typical form of a horror film. During my product
research I gathered that a typical horror convention
would include settings in dark and scary places.
Therefore by shooting 2 of our scenes in a dark
abandoned room it develops the horror convention in
our media product.
