2. Our media product would probably be distributed by
radio stations such as Oldham community radio
which are known as local or community radio
stations. Local and community radio stations have
the role to inform the community about what is
happening in their local area. Including the weather
in that area and of course the news in that
area. Our Media product for our main task does this
as our news stories are all focused on the local
area in and around Oldham. Our first news story
which is our hard news story does this as our story
is about the safety of the greater Manchester police
which includes Oldham police as we in oldham are
part of greater Manchester.
3. Our second news story which is our soft news story
is about a local man who was nominated for the
pride of Oldham award after his involvement in the
Olympic games. We then go on to talk about
Oldham's involvement in the 2012 Olympic games
and Oldham's Olympic legacy and we asked people
their views on it. And then our sport's news story is
about Oldham's Athletics' recent cup run in the FA
cup. Therefore our news stories are very close to
home, just like the news stories you would find on
Oldham community radio.
4. Tameside community radio is another example of a
local radio station which covers the entirety of
Tameside, including: Ashton-under-Lyne, Hyde,
Denton, Stalybridge, Mossley, Audenshaw,
Droylsden and Dukinfield. This radio station does
the same as Oldham community radio as it informs
the residents of their local news which, of course,
would be different to Oldham community radio
news as they are different areas.
5.
Oldham community radio's presenters are all
volunteers and therefore they do not get paid. This
tends to make it more fun as they obviously enjoy
what they are doing for the radio station and for the
community.
The money for Oldham community radio comes
from the funds of the public as they can donate on
their website.
During interviews and talk pieces on Oldham
community radio they are very relaxed just as we
were- or at least as we tried to be in our prelim task
of the comedian interview just like it would have
been if it was on Oldham community radio.
6. As our bulletin made for the morning time. At this time there is
a large range of audiences, including families who would
probably be having breakfast at that time and getting ready for
school and work and the news at this time recognizes this and
makes it suitable for the audience and what they are doing at
that time and this is what we tried to do with our news bulletin.
So we made sure that especially in the news story. We could
have made it more graphic but we decided to keep it as
‘multiple injuries’.
Therefore our media product would be distributed by that of
Oldham Community radio and as Sky does the bulletin for
Oldham community radio they could distribute it as well and it
would be distributed in and around Oldham. It could also be
distributed by any other community radio as we tried to reflect
the ideas and conventions of community radio stations-
Oldham community radio in particularly.
7. Our media product would probably be advertised in
the ways of Oldham community radio; On the
website and of course places such as facebook and
twitter where a lot of the target audience spend
their time. It would also be advertised in windows in
Oldham town centre and banners and posters in
Oldham to attract that central target audience of
people in Oldham which of course is the people of
Oldham because it is for the people of Oldham.
