The marked animals are then released back into the population and left to mingle for a suitable
period of time. Once they have become thoroughly mixed into the population again, the population
is resampled.
The assumption is then made that the proportion of marked animals in the second sample is the
same as the proportion of marked animals to non–marked within the whole population. Enough time
must be allowed to elapse for complete mixing to have occurred.
The Lincoln Index is a method which is used to estimate the size of closed populations. Random
samples of the population are captured and these individuals are marked and then released to mingle
with the general population. The population is resampled after enough time has passed to allow
complete remixing of the marked individuals. This will vary depending on the species, as well as its
habitat and mobility. For example, it is likely to take longer for a population of snails to remix, than
for a population of mice.

Analysis Of The Red Bead Experiment
Dr. Edward Deming created the Red Bead Experiment to describe his theories on statistical
variation measurements and management use of these tools. Dr. Deming believed that quality was
driven by variability and that if that variability could be identified, measured, and controlled then
the overall quality of the process and the product would increase. Deming uses his Red Bead
Experiment as an educational tool to teach both workers and management that variability will exist
in every process and the key to quality control is to predict as best as possible sources of variation,
versus focusing on the apparent problem. In the Red Bead Experiment the apparent problem was the
inability of the workers to meet quota, but the underlying problem ... Show more content on

Ann, a willing worker in the experiment, noted of the experiment: I knew that the system would not
allow me to meet the goal but I still felt that I could. I wanted to, I tried so hard. I felt the
responsibility. I felt that others were dependent on me. My logic and emotions conflicted. (Lessons,
2014)
People are driven by emption as much as or more so than by logic. One of Deming's four points in
his System of Profound Knowledge is psychology. This point emphasizes to management the
importance of understanding human behaviors (Evans & Lindsay, 2014). In this experiment, logic
was set to the side by the human desire to succeed, even when logic says it is not possible. This
situation sets up one that is against the employee because their ability to give feedback is limited.
Emphasize gets placed on employee performance, not on process performance. Management owns
the process and is consequently responsible for the quality of the outcome. From the video titled
Deming's Red Bead Experiment new management was brought in at each step of the experiment to
enforce the process requirements and push the employees to perform better. The management

Does Light Intensity Affect The Rate Of Photosynthesis In...
Research Question
Does light intensity affect the rate of photosynthesis in algae beads?
Hypothesis
Light intensity does affect the rate of photosynthesis. Too much light may cause plants to "burn out"
or stop producing oxygen while too little light will not provide enough light for optimal
photosynthesis activity and CO2 would stop be taken in and oxygen would stop being produced.
Background
When using algae beads and a CO2 indicator, the process of Photosynthesis and Cellular
Respiration can be measured. In this experiment the intensity of light will be altered in each trail,
and the rate of Photosynthesis will then be measured. As you rise from low light intensity to higher
light intensity, the rate of photosynthesis will increase because there is more light available to drive
the reactions of photosynthesis. However, once the light intensity gets high enough, the rate won't
increase anymore since there will be more–light than water and CO2; there will not be enough
components from light, water, and CO2 to create the process of Photosynthesis. As CO2 dissolves
and the amount of CO2 goes up, the pH will lower, which means the solutions color will change
varying form red, orange and yellow, all pending on what the pH is at. CO2 will be produced from
respiration, all while photosynthesis absorbs the CO2. This means that when the rate of
photosynthesis is less than respiration, pH levels will decrease, and CO2 concentration will increase.
Vis versa, when pH levels increase

Data Analysis Lab Report
Introduction
In this lab, the density of 20 glass beads were determined using two different methods and the
results were compared to see how close the values were to each other. In first method the volume of
each individual bead was measured using the diameter of each bead, along with the mass. In the
second method the beads we treated as a whole unit. The total mass was measured and volume was
measured based on the amount of water that was displaced in a graduated cylinder. Then, the beads
were swapped with 20 different glass beads of the same type. The procedure was repeated and the
results were compared to the data of the first bead set to look for any systematic errors that may
have occurred. During the experiment, the data was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The measured difference between the beads is less than the measured tolerance, therefore, the two
density values agree.
The measured density of the bulk beads in the second data set is 2.63g/cm3. The uncertainty of the
density measurement is 0.02g/cm3 and the percent uncertainty is 0.83%. Again, the average density
from the individual bead measurements in this data set is 2.57g and the percent of uncertainty is
0.36%. The percent of uncertainty is higher with the bulk beads; however, the measured densities
are similar. The measured difference between the bulk and individual beads is 0.06g/cm3. The
measured tolerance of the density between the bulk and individual beads is 0.077g/cm3. The
measured difference between the beads is less than the measured tolerance, therefore, the two
density values agree.
Conclusion
For the first data set (Group 6), the density and the uncertainty of its value (ρ ± Δρ) is 2.62 g/cm3 ±
0.06. For data set two (Group 4) this estimate was 2.57 ± 0.06. Overall, the data shows that when
considered individually, neither the diameter, mass, nor density of the beads was constant. In the
end, the individual density average agreed with the bulk density. The same was found for the second

Senior Project Research Essay
Native American Style Beadwork The horses jump around screaming, the bulls snorting, and time
for the rodeo to start. Before the bareback rider gets on his horse I notice his belt, fabricated with
beautiful authentic leather and his last name on the back made of beads, this belt caught my eye
because the beads were bright, and vibrant. I have been looking for this perfect beaded belt for two
years. Nevertheless, I did not want to spend the three–hundred dollars to have someone else make
one for me, so I decided I would wait until my senior year to make this my senior project, and here I
stand today.
There is many things a person needs to know about Native American bead–working; the history of
Native American beading, comparing and contrasting traditional bead colors with modern bead
colors, thread types, tools needed to do modern bead–working, and what bead–workers can make
using modern beading. Native American beading has been accomplished for an unknown amount of
time; but, beadwork is one of the most notorious art forms practiced by the Native American people.
Native American people fashioned their own beads pending the appearance of Europeans. Since
none of the Native Americans has metal tools, producing beads was a long, tedious, procedure. The
tools the Native Americans did use, were made of stone or wood and adhesives such as sand.

Perler Beads Research Paper
Ever since I was little, I loved to create. Whether I was designing a new railroad track for my toy
trains or building houses out of popsicle sticks, I always wanted to make new things with different
materials. One of these materials included Perler Beads. Yes, I am talking about the little, colorful
plastic beads that one irons to solidify. When I was little I was obsessed with making the 2–D dogs
or flowers on the little shaped trays. I would spend hours a day making things that I could play with.
As I got older I realized that there was more to the Perler Bead world than 2–D objects. I moved
away from the safety of the little trays that I had known all of my life and into the unknown of the
clear, square trays that held endless possibilities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I started by making 2–D pieces and then hot gluing them to other 2–D pieces to make 3–D pieces. I
made things for my dollhouse characters such as beds, tables, chairs, couches, etc. I did already own
a lot of toys, but it was always fun to make something I didn't have. I could make it mine. However,
I wasn't yet satisfied with my progress. I kept thinking of a bigger and better project. The idea came
to me of making a car that I could fit my dolls in. I started by drawing out a carefully thought out
plan. Piece by piece, my project was coming together. I had to pace myself because I knew that it
wasn't a one day project or even a week project. Sometimes, my calculations weren't always
accurate and pieces wouldn't fit together as they should. I often had to cut pieces to make them fit
into place. Eventually, I glued pieces together to make the floor, then the front and the back. I
paused before glueing on the doors. I didn't just want doors to my car, I wanted doors that I could
actually swing open and shut. I realized that if I cut a wire hanger and glued it to the roof of the car
and to the floor, I could attach the door and it would swing freely. All and all, I was able to make
four doors that were able to open and

Investigating The Density Of A Set Of Plastic Beads
Introduction: The objective of this lab experiment was to determine the density of a set of plastic
beads by using two different methods and decide which method was better. Density is a physical
property that is defined as the ratio of an object's mass to an object's volume. Also density can be
described as the measurement of how compact a substance is in a given space. To find an object's
density, it is necessary to measure the object's mass, the amount of matter present, and volume, the
space it takes up. Also when studying density, it is important to note how objects with varying
densities behave. The density of water, at room temperature, is 1.00 g/mL and is often used to help
determine the density of a substance based on if it sinks or floats in water. The measurement of the
object's density is important to the plastic company because it allows the company to make sure the
product meets the design specifications. In determining the object's density, the methods of
displacement and floatation, were implemented. The first method used to determine the plastic
bead's density was displacement. Displacement is a method used to find density that is associated
with the Archimedes' principle, which states that when an object is submerged in a liquid, it will
displace its' volume. In this experiment, displacement was used to find the volume of a group of
beads, which were small, multicolored, smooth, and round with a large hole in the centers. After
finding the volume that the

Gudas : Abolism And Symbols Of Marrdi Gras
The term "Mardi Gras" comes from a period of activity related to festive events beyond the single
day most people know of it as. Mardi gras arrived in North America as a French Catholic tradition.
It dates back all the way to ancient Rome in the 17th and 18th century to the French house of the
Bourbons. Fat Tuesday is the last day of the carnival season, which is the day before Ash
Wednesday (first day of lent). French for Fat Tuesday, Mardi gras reflects the practice of the last
night of eating richer fatty foods before the fasting of the Lenten season. Of all festive items, beads
are one of their most popular ones, which happen to be one of the most symbolic features. Overall,
the event positively influences society for the greater good and symbolized by the beads themselves.
Mardi gras beads and their meaning originally were determined by the king of the 1st daytime
carnival in 1872 name Rex. Rex gave an honor in the New Orleans visit of Grand Duke Alexel
Alexandrovich of Russia. Ethos is being shown by the Rex–giving honor to Alexel Alexandrovich
by making the colors of Mardi Gras dedicated to him. The colors show significance in their meaning
and they really stand for something. Rex represented royalty himself by being the person he was, so
therefore, he decided to use royal colors for the celebration.
The original Mardi Gras beads were solid colors and made of glass, but krewe (crew) members
started to throw plastic beads during the 20th century. I could only

The mechanical properties of the welded joint are determined by the microstructural behavior of
weldmetal [2]. It is well established that alloying elements such as Ti, Ni, B, Mo, Cr etc play an
important role for microstructural development [3]. Therefore, it is very essential to manipulate the
composition of welding consumables for the optimum joint properties. Previous researchers have
used various procedures to manipulate weld metal composition. Two major approaches for
improving the WM properties are to use of different types of flux and another one is to alter WM
composition by the introduce of newer filler material or by metal powder addition in WM [4].
Generally, weldmetal microstructure of conventional low– alloy steel consists of varying amounts of
acicular ferrite, polygonal ferrite, widmanstatten ferrite and M–A microphases. It has been reported
that the acicular ferrite provide the optimum microstructure to the welds because of its fine grain
size, as well as dislocation density and reducing crack propagation[2]. One of the useful methods for
promoting the acicular ferrite formation in SAW is the enrichment of various oxides into the flux
such as titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, boron oxide. These oxides in the flux may contribute to
different metallic element dissolution and oxygen into the weld [5]. Evans et al. [6] studied the

African Beadwork History
Beadwork started around 10000 B.C that was in the shape of a disc found somewhere near Africa.
Beads play a very important role in African lifestyle. They used bead as currency and as an artistic
material. The techniques of African beadwork vary. Beads may be strung on fibre cord or metal wire
to create bracelets and necklaces. Beads may be stitched to a backing of fibre, canvas, or leather as
among the Ndebele. In the Grassfields region of Cameroon, bead–workers peg burlap or cloth to
wooden carvings so they can decorate the sculpture with seed or tubular beads. The artists use the
"lazy–stitch" method to fasten the beads to the cloth. They string the beads on a fine thread and then
attach the row of beads by sewing approximately every fifth

Short Story Elements In The Blue Bead By Sagar Patel
The Blue Bead By : Sagar Patel Short Story Elements: 1. 1 2. 1 The setting of the story is not
described, but by using hints the author placed throughout the short story, I managed to figure out
the setting. In one section of the story, it explains how Sibia, a twelve–year old immature woman,
had husked corn, gathered sticks, put dung to dry, cooked, weeded, carried and fetched water, and
cut grass since she was a toddler. This allowed me to predict that this setting took place in a small
and poor village. It led me to believe the village was in a scorching, sunny environment, explaining
why Sibia was sweating while she was working. The author mention "the river" many times, so I
inferred that a river might be close to this village. The river was a dangerous one, mainly because it
was occupied with numerous fish and reptiles, including many crocodiles. The "when" of the story
is mainly during the day, with an exception of it being night at the end of the story. There might
have been a gorge, as it states in the story, "The light of evening was striking up the gorge.". The last
detail I could catch was how the village had mud houses, instead of brick or wood houses. I figured
this out from the introduction part of the story, where it mentioned "In the shrill noisy village above
the ford, out of a mud house the same colour as the ground came a little girl...". This is the
description of the story that I could collect. 3. The mood/atmosphere of the story changes

Building Faith Community From Day One
Building Faith Community From Day One
As an "architect" in a Catholic school, the principal bears the load of responsibility for setting the
tone for each school year and " as an architect of Catholic culture, is to connect the school's core
values and beliefs to Christ and the Gospel intentionally, deliberately, and continually." (Cook,
2001, p. 20) The principal, being the spiritual leader of the school, helps support the Catholic
school's mission and the xxxx of the Catholic identity of the school. They must lead through
example and build the faith community. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops states
that " Within such communities teachers and pupils experience together what it means to live a life
of prayer, personal responsibility and freedom reflective of Gospel Values." (United States
Conference of Catholic Bishops, 1973, p. 30) During the first week of school is when the mission of
the school and the Gospel Values or the " core beliefs and values of Catholic schooling," should be
reveled and xxx to the faith community. My vision would be to reveal the Gospel values of Faith
and Love and the greatest link for those is prayer.
Prayer
The National Directory for Catechist states that "faith must be know, celebrated, lived, and
expressed in prayer." (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, 2005, p. 60) Prayer is a direct
path to growing closer with God and it is fundamental task of a catechist to teach others how to

Sunburning Research Papers
We often hear, especially in the warmer months of the year, about how we ought to be protecting
ourselves from UV exposure. We are told of the importance of sunscreen and keeping ourselves
covered when in direct sunlight. But why is protecting ourselves from UV light so important?
According to the website, Livescience.com, UV light, or ultraviolet light, is a type of
electromagnetic radiation that comes from the sun. You cannot see UV rays, which may be one of
the things that makes it so dangerous. UV light can be very harmful to our bodies if we are exposed
to too much, in one way, specifically, by sunburning. Every day, we are partially protected from UV
light by the ozone layer. Nationalgeographic.com defined the ozone layer to be "a naturally ... Show

UV beads are plastic beads that start out clear, but change color when exposed to ultraviolet light.
As a person who sunburns very easily, I have observed in the past that even when it is sunny
outside, I do not sunburn when driving in a car. This caused me to wonder why this is the case. I
decided to do an experiment to determine if the windshield of my Jeep Grand Cherokee could be
blocking out UV light. My hypothesis is as follows: when facing into direct sunlight, the windshield
of a Jeep Grand Cherokee will completely block out the UV light from coming into the vehicle. To
test this, I took one set of UV beads outside, into direct sunlight. The beads immediately changed
color. This set of beads was my control. I then took another set of beads and put them on the front
dashboard of my Jeep, right in the sunlight. I let the beads sit in the windshield for two minutes.
After two minutes, I examined the second set of beads. The beads had not stayed clear, as they
would have if my hypothesis had been correct; however they had not changed all the way to color
either. Compared to the control beads, the test beads had a much paler color. From this, I could take
it to mean that the windshield did not block out all of the UV light coming into the vehicle, but it did
block out some of it. I wanted to be sure, so I took the beads

Prayer Beads In Religion
Prayer beads have a important role in the history of believers as they seek to deepen their
connection to God. Prayer beads, according to a study in 1987, are a tool for prayer used by five
major religions; Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam and Christianity (Wernik, 361)(Television
430). Not only are prayer beads used in religion but there is also a branch of secular prayer beads,
called worry beads; which are used as a stress management tool (Wernik, 362). The book, A Bead
and a Prayer, is an excellent resource in learning the basic premise and theories associated with
praying with Prayer beads. The book explores four integral questions regarding the use of Prayer

Numerous Protestant assume that prayer beads are a solely Catholic ritual, one that is not for them
(40). It is easy to forget that both Catholic and Protestants share a common history, thus the use of
beads or tangible elements. In their quest to prayer without ceasing, early desert dwellers
commenced praying the entire psalter daily (43). As the monks began to memorize the psalms, they
required a system to count; a bowl or pocket with pebbles or stones (43). Since this method is not
the most portable, prayer ropes were created around the fourth century. In the middle ages, the daily
office, become the new way to pray without ceasing (43). As the daily office was primarily reserved
for monastic communities, lay people were encouraged to say the Lord's Prayer one hundred and
fifty times; the tool for counting this become the rosary or as it was once called the poor man's
psalter (44). While Martin Luther warned against the idle use of empty prayer, it is possible that he
did not disagree with the use of beads in prayer (44). Luther modified the Hail Mary prayer so that it
contained only biblical text (46). Since habits are hard to break, the use of the Hail Mary, the rosary
fell out of use among Protestants. In Old English, the word bed means prayer

The Cause And Consequences Of Micro Beads
The ocean covers seventy percent of the planet. It helps to produce more than half of the planet's
oxygen in the atmosphere by using plankton and algal plankton, which are found under the sea.
Plankton and algae plankton provides nutrients for all marine species. The ocean also helps to
absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. There are around four million people depend on fish as
their primary source of food. But since the past decades, the ocean has been in danger due to marine
pollution. In other words, the Danger has happened because we are adding toxic and harmful
chemicals into the ocean, rivers, and lake, which accumulates and spreads out in the water current. A
scientist has found that eighty percent of marine pollution comes from land–based activities. Many

Red, yellow or orange tourmalines appear better when seen under iridescent lighting. There are
some types of red tourmalines that even appear brown when seen in natural sunlight, which may
look unattractive to some buyers. On the other hand, blue, green and violet tourmalines appear
considerably better against natural sunlight. Therefore, when shopping for a stone, examine it uner
both artificial and natural lighting. Hardness on the Mohn Scale The Mohs scale is used to measure
mineral and gem hardness. Tourmaline falls between 7.0 to 7.5. The numbers of the Mohn scale are
determined on how difficult or easy it is for a mineral or gem to be scratched. Numbers range from
1 to 10 with the higher the number, the softer is the mineral. Additional Considerations and
Warnings Consider transparency as tourmaline beads range from transparent to opaque. Keep
tourmaline stored away from hard materials and harder gemstones to prevent them from damaging

birds from doing this is to disrupt the reflection. There are several ways to do this: you can use
stickers, cover the window or draw streaks across the surface with soap. I wanted a prettier solution:

I used a piece of bamboo flooring left over from another DIY project. You can use a dowel rod or
even drift wood for this project. I drilled 12 holes along the length of the bamboo.
Use a small drill bit to drill a hole in each of your marked increments. The two holes at each end of
the wood will be where the nylon string will be inserted to created a hanger, so these might have to
be a little bit larger in order to fit the thicker nylon rope. I drilled 12 holes in all. This means I need
10 strings of beads for my mobile.
Cut a length of rope at least 24 inches long. String the nylon rope through one of the drilled holes on
the end. Pull it through and string in through the drilled hole on the opposite end of the piece of
wood.
Secure the nylon rope with a double knot on each end.
Cut a length of beading string and thread the beading needle and secure the tail with a knot. My
beading string was about 36 inches long. Once it was threaded and knotted it was about 13 inches
long. String up a bead on the threaded

The Effect Of Rha On Ceramic Beads Adsorption
3. Result and Discussion 3.1 Influence of RHA to Ceramic Beads Adsorption Ability
Based on the calculation data of Concentration–Absorbance plot (Appendix 1), the equation
between concentration (mg/ml) and absorbance (AU) is: AU= 1.0057C, R2=0.9924. The
concentration change of solutions for continuous 10 min are in Appendix 2. The concentration of
solution decreased sharply at first 20 min and then reach the equilibrium after 40 min. According to
the adsorption data and equilibrium equation, the beads adsorption abilities can be calculated as
following: he saturated adsorptions of beads from Ratio 1 to Ratio 7 are: 24.2020 mg/g, 20.2313
mg/g, 18.0074 mg/g, 15.1917 mg/g, 11.3437 mg/g, 28.0750 mg/g and 20.0573 mg/g. the highest
adsorption level of ceramic beads is Ratio 6 (28.0750 mg/g absorption level with the ratio RH: Clay:
flour= 5: 4: 0)), the lowest level of beads shows at Ratio 5 (11.3437 mg/g absorption level with the
ratio RH: Clay: flour= 1: 8: 1). The saturation level is changed with the change of beads
compositions ratios. Figure 3.1 marks the absorption saturation of 7 ratios of beads under the same
burning condition.
From Ratio 1 to Ratio 5, the saturated protein adsorption of ceramic beads decreased, which indicate
that the efficiency of ceramic beads adsorption decreased with the content of RHA declining. Both
RHA and NC have characteristics of adsorption. The main content of RHA are fixed carbon and
SiO2. Fixed carbon has similar properties with AC,

Bead Game Essay
Bead Game by Ishu Patel was created in 1977. Bead Game is a stop motion animated film that was
created by arranging single beads into shapes lines, mammals, and mythological creatures. Further
into the film the creatures absorb and devour one another, creating other figures and creatures from
the remaining beads. These beads end up evolving into scenes of modern human warfare. In the
beginning of the film Patel begins with on simple white bead and continues to add other beads and
color– making his arrangements of the beads into animated figures. While the beads dance there is
sound of percussion that compliments the movement of the beads due to the synchronization of both
sound and movement in the animation. The film reminded me of the creation of life; ... Show more

Patel animates the theory of human evolution by showing a monkey transforming into a caveman
and then into present–day human. The film is successful in synchronizing the characters towards the
end of the film. Patel shows synchronization through his animating when there are two men
throwing a spear at one another and the beads are arranged in a way that the two mirror each other.
Another historical event that is portrayed is ancient warfare, dating all the way back to what seems
to be around 2700 BCE. I began to notice a pattern or a timeline up to this point, starting with the
creation of life then going through important moments of the history of human creation. I think the
creator of this film is trying to say that a design can start off as something so small and simple, and
then fueled by creativity the design turns into an art form. This interpretation that I have made isn't
obvious; it is just something that I took away from the animation after watching it. Something that is
noticeable throughout this animation is how frequent the use of red is. Patel used red for his
creatures that showed characteristics of being

Analysis Of The Glass Bead Game By Hermann Hesse
Is everything in life a contradiction? Can everything be interpreted differently? Is there any real
truth in this world? Hermann Hesse asks these questions in his famous quote from The Glass Bead
Game. He raises interesting points about beliefs and truth. I, too, have pondered these questions
throughout my own life, especially as I move from the safe environment of my childhood home to
the great unknown of my future. It is true what Hesse says, that in all of mankind there is one thing
that contradicts another. However, it is through living each day that one comes to understand which
opinions and interpretations support their own personal truth.
The first question raised seems to be whether everything in this world is simply a contradiction of
another idea. Hesse says, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After all, Hesse goes on to say that, "Everything can be interpreted one way and then again
interpreted in the opposite sense." Interpretation is the second stage to discovering and supporting
personal truth. As a child, one grows up learning the facts of nature in a way for them to
comprehend. It is later in life that the comprehension of ideas is shaped into a personal
interpretation of the world. While one may interpret something one way, there will always be
someone who sees things in the exact opposite way. The question is, should the world's
contradictions matter to the individual? No, they should not. Personal truth is not the jumbled sum
of a bunch of random variables. Personal truth is the product of interpretation and in turn, this
interpretation of things creates the development of a unique individual. If one was to worry about all
the contradictions in life, Hesse would be spot on in his assertion that the world is "nothing but
decadence and meaninglessness". Personal interpretation of ideas is the basis of human character
and personality. It is essentially what makes up the character and doctrine of

Effect of different size beads on the activity of immobilised catalyse
Aim: To find out how varying the size of beads containing yeast varies the rate of activity of
catalase in a fermentation reaction of hydrogen peroxide with immobilised enzymes.
A catalyst is a substance that speeds up the rate of a chemical reaction, without itself being used up
in the process however it maybe affected physically i.e. degradation of the surface of the catalyst.
Catalysts work by reducing the activation energy needed for a particular reaction by offering a
different path for the reaction to take place. Activation energy is the energy, which needs to be
supplied before a reaction can occur, basically the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lock and Key theory
Enzymes are specific to a particular substrate molecule or a restricted group of substrate molecules.
Surface area to volume
Smaller organisms have larger surface area to volume ratio's (surface area divided by volume) than
larger ones. In principle the greater the surface area, the more active site in contact with the
substrate therefore it increases the rate of reaction, and the thinner the separating layers. Another
factor to consider is the larger the volume of the drop the more enzymes it contains inside it.
BACKGROUND:
Catalase (the enzyme) is found in yeast, it breaks down hydrogen peroxide (the substrate) into water
and oxygen according to this equation.
2H2O2(aq) –––––––––––––––––––> 2H2O(l) + O2(g) + catalase(aq)
One molecule of catalase can break 40 million molecules of hydrogen peroxide each second.
Factors that affect the rate of reaction
§ Increasing the temperature increases the kinetic energy at which the enzyme and substrate collide.
Increasing the average energy of each particle meaning that more particles have enough energy for
the particles to collide and bond. However this effect is short lived as most catalysts have a specific
heat temperature range above or below that will slow down the rate of reaction, or even cause

Lab Report: The Evolution Of Bead Color
In the experiment, evolution by natural selection occured in each bead color population. Over the
course of the trials, the yellow stood out the most on the red grasslands while red stood out in the
yellow meadow. Because of the different colors and textures of the habitats different amounts of
each color bead were eaten. For example, in the yellow meadow there were 12 yellow beads left in
generation three, while in the red grassland only 2 yellow beads were left. Of the feeding types, the
spoon became more and more common as it was being naturally selected to survive as opposed to
the knife and fork, both of which decreased or remained constant throughout the three generations
on both the meadow and grassland. If the simulation ran for 50 more generations, the yellow habitat
would have mostly red beads and all spoons, and the red ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The knife's way of 'eating' made it harder to pick up food causing him the knife to get less food than
the others and die. Nature selected against the knife and replaced it with a spoon representing a
predator adaptation. The yellow meadow was the habitat for red, black, and yellow beads. The
predators found it harder to see the yellow beads because they blended in with the background so
only about half the yellow beads were eaten. However, there was less black and red beads left
because they had been eaten by the preadators. The beads remaining were doubled to simulate the
offspring of the surviving beads. Because more yellow beads survived, they reproduced leading to
more yellow for the following generation(s). In the red grasslands the prey was also eaten by two
spoons, one fork, and one knife in the first generation. The knife was selected against and thus, died
off. The red background made it difficult for predators to eat red and black beads. This meant the
yellow beads were spotted easily and were eaten by the

(#2) The Beatles In Mono Box Set It's not as "complete" as the stereo box set but it is probably an
even greater revelation because most of these mono mixes have never been heard before on CD and
some of them have actually never been released in any format before (not even vinyl LP!) This box
set does not include Yellow Submarine, Let It Be, or Abbey Road because those final three albums
were only mixed in stereo. These original mono mixes are how many purists believe these songs
were "meant to be heard." And they have a good point! Those mono mixes were the ones that the
band themselves worked on. The stereo mixes were merely an afterthought in comparison. Another
thing that may make this box set a great gift is it's "collectible" status. There may be only limited
quantities of these mono box sets made and if that's the case it's value should actually go up over the

From China to Mardi Gras: The Effect of a Bead Essay
How often does one actually consider where a product originates or under what conditions it was
produced? While out shopping a consumers main focus is on obtaining the item needed or wanted
not selecting merchandise based on the "made in" tag. It is common knowledge that many products
are imported from other countries. However, little thought is given to the substandard conditions
that workers endure to eke out a living to maintain a poverty stricken existence. In Mardi Gras:

(2010) Eleven to fourteen hour workdays were common, and workers were forced to put in overtime
when needed. The factory runs twenty–four hours a day and workers might receive Sundays off.
Unlike other countries, Chinese workers receive little paid time off. Conley used a graph to illustrate
the number of paid vacation days and holidays; China is on the bottom with no paid vacation days
and only 12 paid public holidays. (p.387) Penalties or disciplinary actions described as
"punishment" by Wong for not meeting quotas, inferior quality, or breaking rules, were harsh and in
his opinion necessary. (Redmon, 2010)
Punishment in the form of pay cuts, or fines, for a specific amount of time, were used to enforce
conformity. Besides being fined for unmet quotas, inferior quality, and failure to turn off a machine,
if caught talking during a shift a worker was fined one day's pay and if caught in the dorm of the
opposite sex the fine was one month's pay. In an environment where workers only make 500 yuan
($62) a month, this loss of pay is significant. Coming from poor families, these women, who often
were in their teens, endure these fines in order to send money home to help support parents and
siblings. Wong believes that the low wage and punishments are "fair" and that his workers are
"happy", only concerned with when they will be paid.

Similarities Between The Christian Rosary And The Buddhist...
"A religious individual may most gloriously carry out his or her own rituals, as a part of his or her
cultural identity, but the moment, that person starts to build a wall of separation between the self and
the rest of humanity, coaxed by the textual commands of a scripture, the healthy religiousness turns
into dangerous fundamentalism, which is a threat to both the self and the society." (Abhijit Naskar).
In the recent history of our society, the actions of religious extremists have driven people apart, and
hatred has grown from a lack of ecumenism between those of different faiths. By focusing on the
differences between religions, and not on the latent similarities that inherently exist between
different faiths, people become blinded to how various religions are all rooted in the same
philosophies. However, by focusing on the similarities of different religion, through philosophies,
rituals, or teachings, we can then learn how to tear down walls, grow as people, and become
cognitive of our joint humanity. With the necessity of ecumenical relations in our community, it
serves humans to see the similarities between the faiths that can divide us. On such similarity exists
between the rituals of the Christian Rosary and the Buddhist tradition of Prayer Wheels, both are
physical guides for repetitive prayers and personal reflection and meditation. The Catholic tradition
of the Rosary is a long held practice of Marian prayer which dates back millennia. The tradition of

Harappan Stone Bead Making And Pottery
Harappan stone bead making and pottery are important aspects in identifying different
archaeological time periods. Craft specialization is an indicator of societies becoming more
complex. Stone bead–making and pottery are both different types of craft specialization which
indicate that the early of cities and villages of the Harappan period have become more aware of
society and economy. In Kenoyer, Vidale, and Bhan's "Contemporary stone bead–making in
Khambat, India," the stone beadmaking industry is studied and described as "important for
supporting the state," (Kenoyer, Vidale, Bhan 1991). This occupational specialization let to the
development of an organized social structure that was closely monitored. Although there are many
references to multiple craft specializations at different sites, this article focuses on craft
specialization that appears to be identified with highly ranked societies. The fact that some scholars
associate craft specialization with these highly ranked societies is incorrect because in all societies
technology was important and required individuals to be able to produce items efficiently. "The
ability to create specific and efficient technology requires specialization which is a sign of economic
and social adaptions," (Rice 1984). Craft specialization was an adaptive process because the ability
to gather raw materials and produce special objects required a high level of competence and ability
to work together. These individuals had to learn how to

What Color Bead Bug?
Introduction
The purpose of the lab was to see what color bead bug would survive the longest in the
environment. By performing the experiment, natural selection was being tested. Natural selection is
when organisms that are most suited to the environment survive and reproduce more successfully.
Certain colored bead bugs would survive longer, because they blended in. The bead bugs that are a
more prominent color stood out more and were eaten right away. This experiment displays how the
population of bead bugs changes over the generations, due to the amount being eaten and the
amount of bead bugs that were reproduced.
Theory
Evolution is "the process by which organisms have changed over time" (Biology 450). Charles
Darwin is responsible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the adaptations may include claws, behaviors, and the ability to camouflage (Biology 460).
Darwin realized there was a connection with the way an organism survives and their environment.
Different adaptations affect an organism 's fitness and the type of environment (Biology 460). "The
difference in rates of survival and reproduction is called survival of the fittest" (Biology 460).
Organisms with characteristics that are suited for the environment have the ability to survive and
reproduce. However, organisms that have characteristics that are not suited for the environment
have a low survival rate and have a limited number of offspring (Biology 460). Natural selection
relates to the lab because only certain colored bead bugs were able to survive. The bead bugs that
had an adaptation of color were able to blend in. The bead bugs that had a color that stood out were
often eaten first. The bead bugs that have a color adaptation on their side had a higher survival rate
and were able to reproduce and have many offspring. The bead bugs that did not have a color
adaptation stood out. They had a low survival rate and had little to no to offspring. If the clear bead
bug is put in the environment then it will survive the longest, because it will be able to blend in with
the colors in the habitat.

Classroom Reflection
When walking into Mrs. Fatones' second–grade classroom one can almost feel the positive
atmosphere from the smiling faces of the students. The classroom had a very traditional look to it.
The rows were set up in aisles but each child had a partner except for one child who was considered
the "trouble maker". Mrs. Fatone preferred to use the chalkboard rather than the smartboard and her
desk was directly in the front right corner overlooking the whole classroom. There were not many
posters or work on display but on the right side of the wall was the "100 Board". Every student that
receives a 100 on a quiz or test, their work will be put up on the board. Mrs. Fatone stated "the
students love this feature to the classroom because it gives them an opportunity to shine. I also see
that it pushes students to try to do well on quizzes or test." The 100 board enhances the physical
environment because it gives students a sense of belonging and achievement. Mrs. Fatone was
teaching the children about how to pray the Rosary. She gave every student a sheet that had a
picture of the rosary as a visual. The teacher had her own physical rosary to show the students what
they should be looking at while she is giving the lesson. For example, Mrs. Fatone would hold up
her Rosary and would point at one of the beads and would say "put your finger on the first bead, this
bead is when we will pray the Our Father." Mrs. Fatone tried to make the students focus their

Physics Of A Dc Electric Eld
In a DC electric field, charged particles moves to an electrode that has anwith opposite polarity. In
an AC electric field, charged particles oscillate, and their amplitudes are determined by the amount
of the total particle charge. The oscillation amplitude of the charged particle is proportional to the
amount of the charge density (q) and the applied voltage (E), and is inversely proportional to the
radius of the particle (r), the medium viscosity (η), or the applied frequency (f) [28]. When E, η, r,
and f are constant values, the amplitude 'd' of the particle is simply related to the charge density 'q'.
In this case, analyzing the amplitude of the oscillating particle under the AC electric field has the

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The marked animals are then released back into the population and left to mingle for a suitable period of time. Once they have become thoroughly mixed into the population again, the population is resampled. The assumption is then made that the proportion of marked animals in the second sample is the same as the proportion of marked animals to non–marked within the whole population. Enough time must be allowed to elapse for complete mixing to have occurred. The Lincoln Index is a method which is used to estimate the size of closed populations. Random samples of the population are captured and these individuals are marked and then released to mingle with the general population. The population is resampled after enough time has passed to allow complete remixing of the marked individuals. This will vary depending on the species, as well as its habitat and mobility. For example, it is likely to take longer for a population of snails to remix, than for a population of mice. Evaluation Table 5: Limitations and Improvements to procedure. • 2. Analysis Of The Red Bead Experiment Dr. Edward Deming created the Red Bead Experiment to describe his theories on statistical variation measurements and management use of these tools. Dr. Deming believed that quality was driven by variability and that if that variability could be identified, measured, and controlled then the overall quality of the process and the product would increase. Deming uses his Red Bead Experiment as an educational tool to teach both workers and management that variability will exist in every process and the key to quality control is to predict as best as possible sources of variation, versus focusing on the apparent problem. In the Red Bead Experiment the apparent problem was the inability of the workers to meet quota, but the underlying problem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ann, a willing worker in the experiment, noted of the experiment: I knew that the system would not allow me to meet the goal but I still felt that I could. I wanted to, I tried so hard. I felt the responsibility. I felt that others were dependent on me. My logic and emotions conflicted. (Lessons, 2014) People are driven by emption as much as or more so than by logic. One of Deming's four points in his System of Profound Knowledge is psychology. This point emphasizes to management the importance of understanding human behaviors (Evans & Lindsay, 2014). In this experiment, logic was set to the side by the human desire to succeed, even when logic says it is not possible. This situation sets up one that is against the employee because their ability to give feedback is limited. Emphasize gets placed on employee performance, not on process performance. Management owns the process and is consequently responsible for the quality of the outcome. From the video titled Deming's Red Bead Experiment new management was brought in at each step of the experiment to enforce the process requirements and push the employees to perform better. • 3. Does Light Intensity Affect The Rate Of Photosynthesis In... Research Question Does light intensity affect the rate of photosynthesis in algae beads? Hypothesis Light intensity does affect the rate of photosynthesis. Too much light may cause plants to "burn out" or stop producing oxygen while too little light will not provide enough light for optimal photosynthesis activity and CO2 would stop be taken in and oxygen would stop being produced. Background When using algae beads and a CO2 indicator, the process of Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration can be measured. In this experiment the intensity of light will be altered in each trail, and the rate of Photosynthesis will then be measured. As you rise from low light intensity to higher light intensity, the rate of photosynthesis will increase because there is more light available to drive the reactions of photosynthesis. However, once the light intensity gets high enough, the rate won't increase anymore since there will be more–light than water and CO2; there will not be enough components from light, water, and CO2 to create the process of Photosynthesis. As CO2 dissolves and the amount of CO2 goes up, the pH will lower, which means the solutions color will change varying form red, orange and yellow, all pending on what the pH is at. CO2 will be produced from respiration, all while photosynthesis absorbs the CO2. This means that when the rate of photosynthesis is less than respiration, pH levels will decrease, and CO2 concentration will increase. Vis versa, when pH levels increase ... • 4. Data Analysis Lab Report Introduction In this lab, the density of 20 glass beads were determined using two different methods and the results were compared to see how close the values were to each other. In first method the volume of each individual bead was measured using the diameter of each bead, along with the mass. In the second method the beads we treated as a whole unit. The total mass was measured and volume was measured based on the amount of water that was displaced in a graduated cylinder. Then, the beads were swapped with 20 different glass beads of the same type. The procedure was repeated and the results were compared to the data of the first bead set to look for any systematic errors that may have occurred. During the experiment, the data was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The measured difference between the beads is less than the measured tolerance, therefore, the two density values agree. The measured density of the bulk beads in the second data set is 2.63g/cm3. The uncertainty of the density measurement is 0.02g/cm3 and the percent uncertainty is 0.83%. Again, the average density from the individual bead measurements in this data set is 2.57g and the percent of uncertainty is 0.36%. The percent of uncertainty is higher with the bulk beads; however, the measured densities are similar. The measured difference between the bulk and individual beads is 0.06g/cm3. The measured tolerance of the density between the bulk and individual beads is 0.077g/cm3. The measured difference between the beads is less than the measured tolerance, therefore, the two density values agree. Conclusion For the first data set (Group 6), the density and the uncertainty of its value (ρ ± Δρ) is 2.62 g/cm3 ± 0.06. For data set two (Group 4) this estimate was 2.57 ± 0.06. Overall, the data shows that when considered individually, neither the diameter, mass, nor density of the beads was constant. In the end, the individual density average agreed with the bulk density. Native American Style Beadwork By Elizabeth Sorensen Elizabeth Sorensen (Be verbs: is, was, were, be, been, being) Mrs. Mohr Luke English 12/12/16 Senior Project Research Essay Native American Style Beadwork The horses jump around screaming, the bulls snorting, and time for the rodeo to start. Before the bareback rider gets on his horse I notice his belt, fabricated with beautiful authentic leather and his last name on the back made of beads, this belt caught my eye because the beads were bright, and vibrant. I have been looking for this perfect beaded belt for two years. Nevertheless, I did not want to spend the three–hundred dollars to have someone else make one for me, so I decided I would wait until my senior year to make this my senior project, and here I stand today. There is many things a person needs to know about Native American bead–working; the history of Native American beading, comparing and contrasting traditional bead colors with modern bead colors, thread types, tools needed to do modern bead–working, and what bead–workers can make using modern beading. Native American beading has been accomplished for an unknown amount of time; but, beadwork is one of the most notorious art forms practiced by the Native American people. Native American people fashioned their own beads pending the appearance of Europeans. Since none of the Native Americans has metal tools, producing beads was a long, tedious, procedure. The tools the Native Americans did use, were made of stone or wood and adhesives such as sand. (Kansas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Perler Beads Research Paper Ever since I was little, I loved to create. Whether I was designing a new railroad track for my toy trains or building houses out of popsicle sticks, I always wanted to make new things with different materials. One of these materials included Perler Beads. Yes, I am talking about the little, colorful plastic beads that one irons to solidify. When I was little I was obsessed with making the 2–D dogs or flowers on the little shaped trays. I would spend hours a day making things that I could play with. As I got older I realized that there was more to the Perler Bead world than 2–D objects. I moved away from the safety of the little trays that I had known all of my life and into the unknown of the clear, square trays that held endless possibilities. ... I made things for my dollhouse characters such as beds, tables, chairs, couches, etc. I did already own a lot of toys, but it was always fun to make something I didn't have. I could make it mine. However, I wasn't yet satisfied with my progress. I kept thinking of a bigger and better project. The idea came to me of making a car that I could fit my dolls in. I started by drawing out a carefully thought out plan. Piece by piece, my project was coming together. I had to pace myself because I knew that it wasn't a one day project or even a week project. Sometimes, my calculations weren't always accurate and pieces wouldn't fit together as they should. I often had to cut pieces to make them fit into place. Eventually, I glued pieces together to make the floor, then the front and the back. I paused before glueing on the doors. I didn't just want doors to my car, I wanted doors that I could actually swing open and shut. I realized that if I cut a wire hanger and glued it to the roof of the car and to the floor, I could attach the door and it would swing freely. All and all, I was able to make four doors that were able to open and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Investigating The Density Of A Set Of Plastic Beads Introduction: The objective of this lab experiment was to determine the density of a set of plastic beads by using two different methods and decide which method was better. Density is a physical property that is defined as the ratio of an object's mass to an object's volume. Also density can be described as the measurement of how compact a substance is in a given space. To find an object's density, it is necessary to measure the object's mass, the amount of matter present, and volume, the space it takes up. Also when studying density, it is important to note how objects with varying densities behave. The density of water, at room temperature, is 1.00 g/mL and is often used to help determine the density of a substance based on if it sinks or floats in water. The measurement of the object's density is important to the plastic company because it allows the company to make sure the product meets the design specifications. In determining the object's density, the methods of displacement and floatation, were implemented. The first method used to determine the plastic bead's density was displacement. Displacement is a method used to find density that is associated with the Archimedes' principle, which states that when an object is submerged in a liquid, it will displace its' volume. In this experiment, displacement was used to find the volume of a group of beads, which were small, multicolored, smooth, and round with a large hole in the centers. After finding the volume that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Gudas : Abolism And Symbols Of Marrdi Gras The term "Mardi Gras" comes from a period of activity related to festive events beyond the single day most people know of it as. Mardi gras arrived in North America as a French Catholic tradition. It dates back all the way to ancient Rome in the 17th and 18th century to the French house of the Bourbons. Fat Tuesday is the last day of the carnival season, which is the day before Ash Wednesday (first day of lent). French for Fat Tuesday, Mardi gras reflects the practice of the last night of eating richer fatty foods before the fasting of the Lenten season. Of all festive items, beads are one of their most popular ones, which happen to be one of the most symbolic features. Overall, the event positively influences society for the greater good and symbolized by the beads themselves. Mardi gras beads and their meaning originally were determined by the king of the 1st daytime carnival in 1872 name Rex. Rex gave an honor in the New Orleans visit of Grand Duke Alexel Alexandrovich of Russia. Ethos is being shown by the Rex–giving honor to Alexel Alexandrovich by making the colors of Mardi Gras dedicated to him. The colors show significance in their meaning and they really stand for something. Rex represented royalty himself by being the person he was, so therefore, he decided to use royal colors for the celebration. The original Mardi Gras beads were solid colors and made of glass, but krewe (crew) members started to throw plastic beads during the 20th century. I could only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mechanical properties of the welded joint are determined by the microstructural behavior of weldmetal [2]. It is well established that alloying elements such as Ti, Ni, B, Mo, Cr etc play an important role for microstructural development [3]. Therefore, it is very essential to manipulate the composition of welding consumables for the optimum joint properties. Previous researchers have used various procedures to manipulate weld metal composition. Two major approaches for improving the WM properties are to use of different types of flux and another one is to alter WM composition by the introduce of newer filler material or by metal powder addition in WM [4]. Generally, weldmetal microstructure of conventional low– alloy steel consists of varying amounts of acicular ferrite, polygonal ferrite, widmanstatten ferrite and M–A microphases. It has been reported that the acicular ferrite provide the optimum microstructure to the welds because of its fine grain size, as well as dislocation density and reducing crack propagation[2]. One of the useful methods for promoting the acicular ferrite formation in SAW is the enrichment of various oxides into the flux such as titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, boron oxide. These oxides in the flux may contribute to different metallic element dissolution and oxygen into the weld [5]. Evans et al. [6] studied the effect of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. African Beadwork History Beadwork started around 10000 B.C that was in the shape of a disc found somewhere near Africa. Beads play a very important role in African lifestyle. They used bead as currency and as an artistic material. The techniques of African beadwork vary. Beads may be strung on fibre cord or metal wire to create bracelets and necklaces. Beads may be stitched to a backing of fibre, canvas, or leather as among the Ndebele. In the Grassfields region of Cameroon, bead–workers peg burlap or cloth to wooden carvings so they can decorate the sculpture with seed or tubular beads. The artists use the "lazy–stitch" method to fasten the beads to the cloth. They string the beads on a fine thread and then attach the row of beads by sewing approximately every fifth ... On a short wooden table there sat a couple of magazines advertising the new happenings within the lives of people I did not care about. • 14. Short Story Elements In The Blue Bead By Sagar Patel The Blue Bead By : Sagar Patel Short Story Elements: 1. 1 2. 1 The setting of the story is not described, but by using hints the author placed throughout the short story, I managed to figure out the setting. In one section of the story, it explains how Sibia, a twelve–year old immature woman, had husked corn, gathered sticks, put dung to dry, cooked, weeded, carried and fetched water, and cut grass since she was a toddler. This allowed me to predict that this setting took place in a small and poor village. It led me to believe the village was in a scorching, sunny environment, explaining why Sibia was sweating while she was working. The author mention "the river" many times, so I inferred that a river might be close to this village. The river was a dangerous one, mainly because it was occupied with numerous fish and reptiles, including many crocodiles. The "when" of the story is mainly during the day, with an exception of it being night at the end of the story. There might have been a gorge, as it states in the story, "The light of evening was striking up the gorge.". The last detail I could catch was how the village had mud houses, instead of brick or wood houses. I figured this out from the introduction part of the story, where it mentioned "In the shrill noisy village above the ford, out of a mud house the same colour as the ground came a little girl...". This is the description of the story that I could collect. 3. The mood/atmosphere of the story changes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Building Faith Community From Day One Building Faith Community From Day One As an "architect" in a Catholic school, the principal bears the load of responsibility for setting the tone for each school year and " as an architect of Catholic culture, is to connect the school's core values and beliefs to Christ and the Gospel intentionally, deliberately, and continually." (Cook, 2001, p. 20) The principal, being the spiritual leader of the school, helps support the Catholic school's mission and the xxxx of the Catholic identity of the school. They must lead through example and build the faith community. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops states that " Within such communities teachers and pupils experience together what it means to live a life of prayer, personal responsibility and freedom reflective of Gospel Values." • 16. Sunburning Research Papers We often hear, especially in the warmer months of the year, about how we ought to be protecting ourselves from UV exposure. We are told of the importance of sunscreen and keeping ourselves covered when in direct sunlight. But why is protecting ourselves from UV light so important? According to the website, Livescience.com, UV light, or ultraviolet light, is a type of electromagnetic radiation that comes from the sun. You cannot see UV rays, which may be one of the things that makes it so dangerous. UV light can be very harmful to our bodies if we are exposed to too much, in one way, specifically, by sunburning. Every day, we are partially protected from UV light by the ozone layer. Nationalgeographic.com defined the ozone layer to be "a naturally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... UV beads are plastic beads that start out clear, but change color when exposed to ultraviolet light. As a person who sunburns very easily, I have observed in the past that even when it is sunny outside, I do not sunburn when driving in a car. This caused me to wonder why this is the case. I decided to do an experiment to determine if the windshield of my Jeep Grand Cherokee could be blocking out UV light. My hypothesis is as follows: when facing into direct sunlight, the windshield of a Jeep Grand Cherokee will completely block out the UV light from coming into the vehicle. To test this, I took one set of UV beads outside, into direct sunlight. The beads immediately changed color. This set of beads was my control. I then took another set of beads and put them on the front dashboard of my Jeep, right in the sunlight. I let the beads sit in the windshield for two minutes. After two minutes, I examined the second set of beads. The beads had not stayed clear, as they would have if my hypothesis had been correct; however they had not changed all the way to color either. Compared to the control beads, the test beads had a much paler color. From this, I could take it to mean that the windshield did not block out all of the UV light coming into the vehicle, but it did block out some of it. I wanted to be sure, so I took the beads ... Prayer beads, according to a study in 1987, are a tool for prayer used by five major religions; Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam and Christianity (Wernik, 361)(Television 430). Not only are prayer beads used in religion but there is also a branch of secular prayer beads, called worry beads; which are used as a stress management tool (Wernik, 362). Numerous Protestant assume that prayer beads are a solely Catholic ritual, one that is not for them (40). It is easy to forget that both Catholic and Protestants share a common history, thus the use of beads or tangible elements. In their quest to prayer without ceasing, early desert dwellers commenced praying the entire psalter daily (43). As the monks began to memorize the psalms, they required a system to count; a bowl or pocket with pebbles or stones (43). Since this method is not the most portable, prayer ropes were created around the fourth century. In the middle ages, the daily office, become the new way to pray without ceasing (43). As the daily office was primarily reserved for monastic communities, lay people were encouraged to say the Lord's Prayer one hundred and fifty times; the tool for counting this become the rosary or as it was once called the poor man's psalter (44). While Martin Luther warned against the idle use of empty prayer, it is possible that he did not disagree with the use of beads in prayer (44). Luther modified the Hail Mary prayer so that it contained only biblical text (46). Since habits are hard to break, the use of the Hail Mary, the rosary fell out of use among Protestants. Result and Discussion 3.1 Influence of RHA to Ceramic Beads Adsorption Ability Based on the calculation data of Concentration–Absorbance plot (Appendix 1), the equation between concentration (mg/ml) and absorbance (AU) is: AU= 1.0057C, R2=0.9924. The concentration change of solutions for continuous 10 min are in Appendix 2. The concentration of solution decreased sharply at first 20 min and then reach the equilibrium after 40 min. According to the adsorption data and equilibrium equation, the beads adsorption abilities can be calculated as following: he saturated adsorptions of beads from Ratio 1 to Ratio 7 are: 24.2020 mg/g, 20.2313 mg/g, 18.0074 mg/g, 15.1917 mg/g, 11.3437 mg/g, 28.0750 mg/g and 20.0573 mg/g. the highest adsorption level of ceramic beads is Ratio 6 (28.0750 mg/g absorption level with the ratio RH: Clay: flour= 5: 4: 0)), the lowest level of beads shows at Ratio 5 (11.3437 mg/g absorption level with the ratio RH: Clay: flour= 1: 8: 1). The saturation level is changed with the change of beads compositions ratios. Figure 3.1 marks the absorption saturation of 7 ratios of beads under the same burning condition. Bead Game is a stop motion animated film that was created by arranging single beads into shapes lines, mammals, and mythological creatures. Further into the film the creatures absorb and devour one another, creating other figures and creatures from the remaining beads. These beads end up evolving into scenes of modern human warfare. In the beginning of the film Patel begins with on simple white bead and continues to add other beads and color– making his arrangements of the beads into animated figures. While the beads dance there is sound of percussion that compliments the movement of the beads due to the synchronization of both sound and movement in the animation. Another historical event that is portrayed is ancient warfare, dating all the way back to what seems to be around 2700 BCE. I began to notice a pattern or a timeline up to this point, starting with the creation of life then going through important moments of the history of human creation. I think the creator of this film is trying to say that a design can start off as something so small and simple, and then fueled by creativity the design turns into an art form. Hermann Hesse asks these questions in his famous quote from The Glass Bead Game. He raises interesting points about beliefs and truth. I, too, have pondered these questions throughout my own life, especially as I move from the safe environment of my childhood home to the great unknown of my future. It is true what Hesse says, that in all of mankind there is one thing that contradicts another. The first question raised seems to be whether everything in this world is simply a contradiction of another idea. Hesse says, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After all, Hesse goes on to say that, "Everything can be interpreted one way and then again interpreted in the opposite sense." It is later in life that the comprehension of ideas is shaped into a personal interpretation of the world. While one may interpret something one way, there will always be someone who sees things in the exact opposite way. The question is, should the world's contradictions matter to the individual? No, they should not. Personal truth is not the jumbled sum of a bunch of random variables. Personal truth is the product of interpretation and in turn, this interpretation of things creates the development of a unique individual. By focusing on the differences between religions, and not on the latent similarities that inherently exist between different faiths, people become blinded to how various religions are all rooted in the same philosophies. Organisms with characteristics that are suited for the environment have the ability to survive and reproduce. However, organisms that have characteristics that are not suited for the environment have a low survival rate and have a limited number of offspring (Biology 460). Natural selection relates to the lab because only certain colored bead bugs were able to survive. The bead bugs that had an adaptation of color were able to blend in. The bead bugs that have a color adaptation on their side had a higher survival rate and were able to reproduce and have many offspring. The bead bugs that did not have a color adaptation stood out. For example, Mrs. Fatone would hold up her Rosary and would point at one of the beads and would say "put your finger on the first bead, this bead is when we will pray the Our Father." Mrs. Fatone tried to make the students focus their attention on the lesson from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Research Paper On Beads Of Courage Being diagnosed with a terminal disease will shock any person, but when you have to tell a child, it really changes your perspective. Little kids bounce back from a lot of things, but it is their support system that gets them there. Beads of Courage is a free organization that helps support children, newborns to eighteen, through life threatening diseases. They design and distribute beads and each one has a different meaning. It is meant to be a coping method for those who have a serious illness, for each procedure they must endure, they get a bead. This means every port (replacing and cleaning), x–ray, MRI, PET scan, blood draw, infusion, and many other operations are captured in the beads (structure). Jean Baruch developed the program in ... • 39. Physics Of A Dc Electric Eld In a DC electric field, charged particles moves to an electrode that has anwith opposite polarity. In an AC electric field, charged particles oscillate, and their amplitudes are determined by the amount of the total particle charge. The oscillation amplitude of the charged particle is proportional to the amount of the charge density (q) and the applied voltage (E), and is inversely proportional to the radius of the particle (r), the medium viscosity (η), or the applied frequency (f) [28]. When E, η, r, and f are constant values, the amplitude 'd' of the particle is simply related to the charge density 'q'. In this case, analyzing the amplitude of the oscillating particle under the AC electric field has the same meaning with as evaluating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An AC electric field was applied to a sample containing the fluorescent microspheres, and the oscillation amplitudes of the fluorescent microspheres were observed by using a fluorescent fluorescence microscope (TE2000–U, Nikon). The continuous CCD images were recorded in a computer as a movie file format. After the analysis of the recorded data, the oscillation amplitude 'd' was calculated as the average of one–way distances [28]. The amplitudes of the 10 different microspheres were individually measured, and an the average of these amplitudes was used as the amplitude 'd'. 4.3 Preparation of biofunctional microspheres 4.3.1 Preparation of IgG–modified and Biotin–IgG–modified microspheres Two kinds types of microspheres modified with IgG (IgG–bead) and biotin–labeled IgG (Biotin–IgG–bead) were prepared as shown in Figure 4 (a). Two kinds types of microsphere, carboxylate–modified microspheres and orange fluorescence (540/560), were mixed in a carbonate buffer solution (0.1 M), and the mixture was centrifuged (1000 rpm, 5 min). After repeating the washing step more than twice, a small portion of PBS (10 mM, pH 7.0) was added to the microspheres mixtures of microspheres with the addition of carbodiimide. The reaction mixture was stirred for ˜∼180 min at room temperature. Then, the microspheres were washed twice with a PBS and suspended in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
