Politics is much more than agendas these days. It is a game involving intricate strategies and
manoeuvres to outsmart the others. Big games are played in today's political arena and these big
games are limited to the big player only. No matter how loyally or how long a person serves, the
game plan is limited only to the highest tier of the parties or maybe even less. The best and the
trickiest of games are played with a lot of confidentiality to ensure its success.
Politics, mind you, is not a child's play. Politicians are extremely smart people. By using the word
smart, I don't put them into the category of Einstiens or Newtons. What I am trying to convey is that
they are very observant and capable of noticing the smallest of opportunities. They plan with vision
and over time it pays off.
In the light of the present situation, I may sound a complete fool for what I have just said. Had
politicians been so smart and so thoughtful in their strategies then why can't the Indian National
Congress see the very evident inefficiency of Mr. Rahul Gandhi? He has become a subject of
numerous jokes on the social media and his incompetency has come to the fore over the years. It is

Everyone expects their sixteenth birthday to be this grand wonderful event with friends, family, and
maybe some cake, but what most don't expect is to make their eighteenth just as important. Yes,
turning eighteen is just as significant as turning sixteen because it symbolizes your transformation
from a teenager to an adult, but that is why we celebrate turning sixteen as heavily as we do. My
eighteenth birthday truly was a grand event, one where even in my wildest imaginations I never
pictured doing the things I did, it felt like something out of a Hollywood movie script. The
celebration started with a concert at the Georgia Dome, on October 1st, leading all the way to its

Addressing a group of teachers in Sultanpur on Tuesday night, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate
Varun Gandhi had said that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is doing good work through his
self–help groups (SHG) for advancement of women in Amethi. While this exchange of words
between bigwigs in Gandhi family is catching an attention of national media ahead of 16th general
elections, the plight of SHG members in Chennai signifies the reality which is far away from these
political claims of advancement of women through SHGs.
"With one of the groups in our federation, bank did not sanction the loan even after the rating was

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was (28 May 1883 – 26 February 1966) was a poet, playwright and a
fierce advocate of India 's independence. He espoused dismantling the caste system in India, and
reconversion of the converted Hindus back to Hindu religion. This term was coined Hindutva, as
opposed to Hinduism which is regarded in a social/political communalist context. Hindutva, on the
other hand, advocated national unity and fraternal brotherhood among all Indians.
Hinduism is a movement centred around a religion, or in essence, is a religion which spans roughly
4th century CE. The followers of the religion are called Hindus, though in a different connotation as
compared to Savarkar 's Hindutva. For Savarkar, Hindus were a people who lived in Hindustan, and
were part of a common territory. In Old Persian, the land ahead the Indus River was called Hinduš

On the cold night of March 5th, 1770, a mob of American colonists were protesting outside the
Customs House in Boston. One colonist threw a snowball hitting Private Hugh Montgomery.
Montgomery replied with a shot into the crowd. This led the rest of the British Army soldiers to
shoot into the crowd killing five people in an event that would later be known as the Boston

protection of their rights. To accomplish this, James Madison drafted the Bill of Rights and by the
end of 1791, every state had ratified the first ten amendments. The First Amendment is primary, not
just because it is at the beginning, but because it articulates the First Freedom and the nature of that
freedom. It states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right
of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." By

India 's Post Colonial Populist Democracy
The recent experience of India's post–colonial populist democracy with Moditva (the rise of
Narendra Modi as India's prime minister by mobilizing varied sections of the Indian population:
corporates, media, middle classes, Hindutva activists, a section of Other Backward Classes and
Dalits along with the poor) has fundamentally challenged the liberal conception of democracy. It is
interesting to note that a person widely regarded as anti–minorities while ignoring the normative
principle of 'rule of law' when protecting the minorities from majoritarian violence, gets elected by
popular mandate. In this respect, Moditva ('Modified' version of Hindutva) might pose possible
threats to India's democratic processes in future.
Moditva is not just a specific political agenda with a personality cult but it can be called as what
Michael Freeden calls a 'micro–ideology'. As 'nationalism' is a micro–ideology in Freeden's
parlance, Moditva can be also described as a peculiar 'micro–ideology'. Previously, Hindutva had
shown its limitations by not ensuring electoral majority for the BJP in the 1990s. In contrast,
Moditva has not only ensured a clear majority for BJP (282 seats) with 10 seats more than the
majority mark and over 60% seats for the National Democratic Alliance (336 seats) but has also got

The communal politics in India started from 1970s when emergency was declared in India. The

People were uprooted from their homeland and sent to live in Pakistan. Some would travel on foot,
some in carriages, but most by Train. The trains were given a warm sending off by the officials and
sent on their way. As the train reached Pakistan, the doors opened and out flowed a pool of blood.
Almost everyone on the train had been massacred. One of those people was my great–grandfather.
Thus, due to this catastrophic and melancholic incident, escalated the great conflict between India
and Pakistan, more specifically, the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir is a state in India, that
shares a border with Pakistan, and since the partition of India and Pakistan, it has been disputed
land. Both countries claim the land is theirs, which has subsequently caused several wars between
the two. My stance on the issue is to call for autonomy. To give Jammu and Kashmir self
governance, which will let the state make the decisions rather than the two countries. It ensures
peace for the people of the state, rather than wealth for either India or Pakistan. Jammu and Kashmir
was originally a part of India when the conflict began, though, due to its high Muslim population, it
