A Conspiracy in Politics
Politics is much more than agendas these days. It is a game involving intricate strategies and
manoeuvres to outsmart the others. Big games are played in today's political arena and these big
games are limited to the big player only. No matter how loyally or how long a person serves, the
game plan is limited only to the highest tier of the parties or maybe even less. The best and the
trickiest of games are played with a lot of confidentiality to ensure its success.
Politics, mind you, is not a child's play. Politicians are extremely smart people. By using the word
smart, I don't put them into the category of Einstiens or Newtons. What I am trying to convey is that
they are very observant and capable of noticing the smallest of opportunities. They plan with vision
and over time it pays off.
In the light of the present situation, I may sound a complete fool for what I have just said. Had
politicians been so smart and so thoughtful in their strategies then why can't the Indian National
Congress see the very evident inefficiency of Mr. Rahul Gandhi? He has become a subject of
numerous jokes on the social media and his incompetency has come to the fore over the years. It is
very clear that Rahul has failed miserably to connect to the people. On the other hand, there is Modi,
a magnetic personality with great oration skills. More importantly he has Gujarat to show for his
achievements. Is the Congress so naive to neglect it and go about doing nothing at all?
It must have

Leadership Of Integral Humanism And Hindutva Essay
A brand is a customer experience represented by a collection of images and ideas; often, it refers to
a symbol such as a name, logo, slogan, and design scheme.
A product or service to which human beings attach a bundle of tangible (functional product and
service (characteristics) and intangible (emotional and/or symbolic) meanings that add value. A
brand has one strategic purpose and that is to differentiate itself from competitors. Politics Political
parties can be viewed as Brands and the politicians are the products

Short Essay on Coalition Governments in India
India won her independence in 1947 and for winning this independence Congress, as a political
party, played the predominant role.
The leaders of the Congress party, then, were great leaders – stalwarts – really dedicated to the cause
and to the party which they served. Mahatma Gandhi was the undisputed leader and there were
leaders of such caliber as Jawahar Lai Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, C.
Rajagopalacharya, Pattabhi Sitaramayya, Sarojini Naidu, Subhash Chandra Bose and a host of
others of all castes and all creeds.
Among Muslims, there were Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, Abul Kalam Azad, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai and
among the lower castes – lower castes as then was called – Kamraj in South and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

There had started a gradual decline in the overall governance of the country and the worst ever
shock was received by the country in the Chinese aggression in 1962 in which India had to suffer a
great humiliation for which Krishna Menon, as the Defense Minister was largely responsible.
Further on, on the economic front also, the government in power failed to remove the disparities
between the rich and the poor, rather the disparities increased, and there started a voice being raised
regarding the backward classes – who were regarded as economically backward – and a further class
of 'Other Backward Classes', other than the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes came into being
and Chaudhary Charan Singh, otherwise and originally a Congressman became the leader and the
champion of the Backward classes.
During the regime of Indira Gandhi, politics had declined to manipulations and maneuverings to
remain in power and the mobilisation of money and muscle power and the media, the law
interpreting authorities and the educational system – all these were attempted to be managed in her
favour.
Just after gaining independence, Mahatma Gandhi had suggested that congress as a political party
should be disbanded. That of course, was not done but under Indira Gandhi a vertical rupture took
place in the party with a number of old stalwarts deserting the party, forming into Congress (O)
under Nijalingappa and Indira Gandhi formed her own group and this was named as Congress (I) of

Struggle Between Hindu and Secular Nationalisms in India...
Struggle Between Hindu and Secular Nationalisms in India
India holds a prominent place in the history of imperialism and decolonization, making recent
events in this country of nearly one billion especially important to the current day citizen. India also
faces problems associated with accommodating religion and diversity within a large federal
republic, making their experience important for Americans concerned with these issues. India faces
growing action of governing which invites the use of violence to achieve political objectives. In
spite of India's size and importance, it is hard for an American to gain an understanding of the issues
and conflicts which have set the stage for the most recent revival of Hindu nationalism. The ... Show

Nijhawan remarks, "the contending sides swear by secularism." However, secularism as it has come
to be practiced by the Congress Party and the Indian government (hereafter referred to simply as
secularism) comes under scrutiny for four general reasons: the unequal treatment of different
religious groups, the implied hostility to religion, the poor translation of secularism from the West to
India and the inability of secularism to create a national identity for India. That both sides attempt to
appropriate the term secularism can lead to confusion; even the U.S. government had some
problems in its effort to catagorize the debate about secularism. In the opinion of the Hindu
nationalist, the Congress commitment to secularism does not bring about the tolerance, the Sarva
Dharma Sambhava to be expected of Hindu rulers. P.N. Joshi, President of the Rashtriya Hindu
Manch, a militant Hindu organization, explains in his 150 page pamphlet, Secularism in Action: A
Fraud, A Conspiracy to Destroy Hinduism that in reality, the picture of secularism in action in this
country is neither beautiful not presentable ... in fact, it is ugly and abominable and the produce even
though so well packed in gorgeous colours is foul and stinking'.ii The concept of secularism in this
country, in fact, means to ignore the Hindus, to sell the rights and interests of the Hindus with a view
to appeasing the Muslims, Sikhs and Christians for buying their votes. The BJP also attacks

The Great Betrayal By Modi And The Bjp
The 'Great Betrayal" Act by Modi and the BJP is slowly but steadily unfolding. Credibility is rapidly
diminishing amongst majority of his followers, admirers, supporters and sympathizers. By
aggressive speech making during poll campaigning, Modi had endeared himself to the "Aam
Aadmi', particularly sections of the Middle Class, by raising "Great Expectations" and hopes among
them by "Ache Din Aane Wale Hain" slogan. Modi's high decibel campaign promises included:
"Good Governance – Simple and Smart governance through transparency"; stemming the rot
corruption, particularly in high places; controlling price rise and inflation; upholding dignity and self
respect of women; countering LoC violations and terror acts firmly; and many others like "One
Rank One Pension" etc., reduced to print in the BJPs 2014 Election manifesto. A brief review of
happenings during the last two months of Modi's governance provide clear signals on what to expect
in posterity. Transparency is the foremost pre–requisite for "Good Governance – Simple and Smart"
governance. Modi has also retracted into what was derisively hailed during the UPA rule as "Man
Mohan Singh" silent mode. After becoming PM, Modi has insulated himself from the media glare.
Even on the social media network, he is no longer as aggressive and communicative on key issues as
he was during the pre–election orchestra. Why is Modi sulking away from media glare? Is he afraid
to face the media and answer questions on various key issues?

Pros And Cons Of Ban On Tobacco Should Be Banned
The ban is also supported by those who believe it is morally wrong to entice people to engage in a
behavior so detrimental to good health, and further argue that it is a government's responsibility to
protect the health and well being of its peoples. There are also those who base their opposition based
on the financial impact. The costs of lost productivity, treating tobacco related illness, the financial
impact of illness and death on families are staggering. Monies not spent on cigarettes could be spent
on services and goods. (2010. "Ban on Tobacco Ads by the Government of India")
There are those who do not support such a ban. Among the many reasons for their disapproval are
those centering around limiting the intrusion of government into personal choice and restraint of
trade. Many believe that government should not be able to restrict personal choice, or restrict the
advertising practices of a legal product. They further argue that the ban will be difficult if not
impossible to enforce, since the ban does not include traditional Indian tobacco alternatives or
advertising in foreign media outlets. They also point to opposing studies that show no correlation
between advertising dollars spent and tobacco products sold. (2010. "Ban on Tobacco Ads by the
Government of India") ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those against the ad ban point out that the tax revenue generated by the tobacco industry add to the
government coffers. They further argue that in India, the government contributes so little to its
health and welfare systems that the benefits of tobacco's monetary contribution to the economy
trump the cost of healthcare. They further argue that the cost illnesses caused by tobacco usage are
offset by those who die early from tobacco related illness. Premature deaths save the cost of
government benefits and pensions. (2010. "Ban on Tobacco Ads by the Government of

Narendra Modi : A Vision Of Reshaping Indian Economy
Narendra Modi – a patriot, a true leader with a vision of reshaping Indian economy and accelerating
the process of nation building. He showed the trailer of "ache din aane wale hai" to Indians grappling
with issues like corruption, unemployment, inflation etc.and they saw a maseeha in him. Not only
Indians, the entire world has its eyes set on the way Mr. Narendra Modi leads and governs India. But
has he been able to live up to his trailer's expectations? Let's take a walk through his trailer – "the
election campaign" andjudge for ourselves, "ache din aaengey ya nhi".
The trailer boasted of NDA government addressing following issues:
Good Governance Price Rise Employment and Entrepreneurship Corruption Black Money Decision
and Policy Paralysis Poor Delivery Credibility Crisis People Public Private Partnership
Infrastructure enhancement Improve foreign relations
The movie started with our PM Modi's swearing ceremony, where Prime Ministers of all the
SAARC countries were invited. His emphasis was on fostering the foreign relations, especially
amongst BRICS nations. He was playing safe by sustaining and building relationships with foreign
nations.
Modi then took charge of government by placing his key ministers in important ministries, rolling
out the sketched roadmap to his officials, taking stock from the secretaries, and ultimately trying to

Roles Of Sangh Parivar
CHAPTER 2 HINDU NATIONALISTS AD THEIR LOVE FOR FASCISM
Introduction
Various organisations in India who laid their foundation resting their ideology on' one nation, one
culture, one language and one religion' are found to follow the footsteps of Nazi Germany. Nazi
Germany was adopted as the apt role model for the Sangh Parivar, especially the concept of anti–
Semitism was embraced with more enthusiasm. Like the Jews were for Germans, Muslims are for
the Hindu fanatics of Sangh Parivar. The bodies involved in incorporating and developing such
ideals include Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP), the religious wing of Sangh Parivar, especially,
Bajrang Dal, political wing BJP and the umbrella organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak
Sangh(RSS).

The Imaginary Institution of India
The Imaginary institution of Indian: Politics and Ideas Ch5–8 As you dive into the text of Sudipta
Kaviraj's The Imaginary institution of Indian: Politics and Ideas (2010) he begins to already question
the sense of Nationalism. Indian's didn't really have any sense of nationalism up until the British
came to power. Kaviraj states "it is often essential to ask whose history this is, in the sense of history
for whom rather than history of whom."(Page 170) Because it depends on which said the story is
told. In earlier periods of India they felt a weaker version of patriotism which was "an ancestor for
Indian nationalism"(Page 174) which would be different from today's patriotism and that there is no
connection between being patriotic and being Indian. He says that the consciousness becomes
nationalist before it becomes India's only because they happen to realize it later in time.
Kaviraj regards India to be "closely parallel" to what Gramsci said about Italian nationalism. There
are two conflicts, One of memorialism of Italy's Roman past to what it is today and, two today's
modernity and the construction of the Italian identity. He compares the two because Italian history
had some similar influences to that of colonialism. Gramsci says that there is no concrete line in
which Italian culture is connected by, the only "continuity" they have is just propaganda. Each
century in India had its own literature. Any time they would summarize a principle of the past they
would only

Political Instability : Indian National Congress And The...
Political Instability: India has an incredible amount of instability and corruption in politics. India has
two main political parties– Indian National Congress and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). These two
are the major parts of the Parliament government. Currently, there is a vast amount of corruption
involving major issues like elections, railways, customs, revenue collection, etc. An example of
political instability relating to corruption is the Hawala Bribery Scandal in 1990. The Hawala
Scandal involved over 115 top politicians in India including the Prime Minister, Union Ministers,
Leader of Opposition, members of Congress, etc. The politicians were allegedly receiving payments
from four brothers who were brokers of the Hawala companies, which amounted to upwards of
US$18 million. The case and investigation started with the arrest of two militants in 1991. One by
One, the cases of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) were getting thrown out. Evidence was
counted as inadmissible and most politicians got off scot free. After the cases were dropped, it
became public in a sworn testimony that the judge for the cases was made to make it all go away. It
included three top political parties and everyone involved was a much involved as the next. This
scandal rocked the country as their democracy lost trust and loyalty from the people. The United
States has been in governance since 1776. We have a strong political background that correctly
identifies with most Americans.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Narendra Modi Reforms
Roadblocks in implementing various schemes and reforms by Narendra Modi
Every five years, a particular trend could be observed. National elections are held and different
political parties ended up getting different number of seats. Since the 1984 elections, no party has
established a simple majority of its own. So in the end, always a Coalition government came into
power. This time it was different. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by its prime ministerial
candidate Narendra Modi, won a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha elections, with 282 seats on its
own. The alliance it lead–National Democratic Alliance (NDA)–had 336 seats in the lower house of
the Parliament. This thing could be attributed to the military style campaign by Modi and ... Show

Since the winning of the elections, Narendra Modi has visited numerous countries to establish
bilateral ties. Some had the intended outcome while others had not. The visit to Japan had failed to
meet one of the main objectives – to sign an agreement on civil nuclear cooperation. Thus, building
of nuclear plants in India remain stalled. Also in Nepal, he failed to sign agreements on the
development and sale of hydro–generated power – the Power Trade Agreement and the Power
Development Agreement despite India helping out Nepal in innumerable ways. Modi is still viewed
as a polarising figure when it comes to international stage, an attribution that he should prove
wrong. In the reforms introduced for labour, little work is done on tougher issues such as
amendments to the Minimum Wages Act and the Contract Labour Act. Companies were also

Research Paper On Indira Gandhi
Indira Gandhi (1919–1984) was among the most powerful and skilled leaders in the Indian history.
She was the only daughter of Pd. Jawaharlal Nehru. She was cut out for politics. She had the classic
and prerequisite bent of mind when it came to political machinery and social reforms. In course of
her practice, she became public's favourite. K.A. Abbas rightly said in his book 'Indira Gandhi:
Return Of The Red Rose', "Indira Gandhi's accession is not hereditary. It's the reaffirmation of the
principles and policies formulated by Jawaharlal Nehru." She was first appointed the prime minister
in 1966, after which she garnered massive public support and acceptance through her extensive
work in the field of agriculture, abolishing poverty and also ... Show more content on

This landed her in a spot of flux. On the evening of 25th June, 1975, Indira Gandhi had a concise
meeting with her close friends and confidants at her residence. Among them was an old advisor and
friend Siddharth Shankar Ray, home minister Om Mehta, Prashnachandra and RK Chanda. They
went through all the documents and legal accounts, and ultimately, as per Article 352, they came to a
conclusion that internal emergency should be declared. They also gave many reasons for the same;
some of them being that the government cited threats to national security, the 1973 oil crisis, the
economy of India was in shambles and there was rampant desertion and disorder across the nation.
Hence, owing to all these reasons, and above all, safeguarding her position in the political hierarchy,
Indira Gandhi decided to write a letter to the president of India, seeking agreement on her decision
of declaring internal emergency. Before this, she asked three questions to Siddharth Shankar Ray.
Her first question was, can a letter regarding internal democracy be written to the president without
consulting the cabinet. Second, she questioned him regarding the language and tone of the letter.
And lastly, she questioned him regarding the content of the

The Pros And Cons Of Globalization
With globalization comes migration, as people choose to immigrate from one place to the other in
search of better opportunities. Because of globalization, nations attempt to homogenize their diverse
population, with disregard to individuals own cultural ties. The backlash of this disregard causes
violent civil conflict, as differing cultures branch out and mobilize for their own cause. According to
Samuel. P Huntington, people are no longer defined by their political, ideological or economic
positions, but rather their cultural identity. Huntington classified the world into 8 major civilizations:
Sinic, Japanese, Hindu, Islamic, Orthodox, Western, Latin American and African. Because of
globalization, these cultures are migrating with one another and are creating nations that are multi–
cultural. Huntington argues that different cultures will always clash because of their basic
immutable differences, increased interactions, social change, and the West's superiority. For
example, the West versus Islam is the most dominating culture clash in modern time, as evident in
the Gulf War, Afghanistan war, and Iraq War/ The increased communication between the two have
exaggerated their differences and the Wests repeated attempt to universalize values, and institution
while maintaining their superiority, has caused resentment within the Middle East and Muslim
communities across the globe. In addition, Huntington argues that a resurgence in knowing your
roots and the revival of

A Visit At The Georgia Dome
Everyone expects their sixteenth birthday to be this grand wonderful event with friends, family, and
maybe some cake, but what most don't expect is to make their eighteenth just as important. Yes,
turning eighteen is just as significant as turning sixteen because it symbolizes your transformation
from a teenager to an adult, but that is why we celebrate turning sixteen as heavily as we do. My
eighteenth birthday truly was a grand event, one where even in my wildest imaginations I never
pictured doing the things I did, it felt like something out of a Hollywood movie script. The
celebration started with a concert at the Georgia Dome, on October 1st, leading all the way to its
grand finale, a trip to New York City, on October 10th. It was two solid weeks of surprise after
surprise with each surprise being bigger and better than the last, or at least in my opinion anyway.
October 1st was seeing One Direction, my favorite band, live, the 2nd was surprise tickets to Cirque
Du Soleil, the 3rd was a surprise party with friends and family, the 10th through the 12th was a trip
to New York City, and lastly and later on in the day of the 12th was seeing Disney's Frozen on ice. I
don't think I have ever been happier than when attending all five of these events. Seven o'clock pm,
Wednesday October 1st, 2014, was the exact time my skipped a beat; it was the exact time the
concert of my dreams started. One Direction, consisting of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis

India 's A Growing Economic System

Although India has some of the biggest billionaires living there, more than 30%–50% of the people
in India live below the poverty line on about 50 cents a day. It is a high poverty rate, the highest
among all the BRIC countries. In India this problem is growing and becoming more unbalanced.
This is an issue because of the caste system in India. This castes system makes it extremely difficult
for one to change social classes. Women also have a problem when trying to break into the
workplace, because it is something that is seen as taboo. I recall in a TED TALK that was shown in

how they were being taught simple key logging types of work in hopes of the availability of the jobs

time selling their produce which proves to be a difficult tasks since many rural areas do not have the

Political Issues Of Pepsi
Brief Summary
After being cleared by the Indian government in 1988, PepsiCo. was allowed entry to the Indian
market as a Joint Venture with Indian–based companies Punjab Agro Industrial Corporation (PAIC,
established by the government) and Voltas India Ltd. (an appointed company by the Indian
government who was to oversight Pepsi's decisions). Pepsi would be held accountable to the
following terms & conditions: a 75% focus of investment on food and agro–processing, importing
advanced food processing technology, improving India's product brand reputation for quality, for ten
years, Pepsi would adhere to India's set export/import regulations, create 50,000 jobs across India
(25,000 to be in the Punjab state), Pepsi's foreign brand names would not be used, and an
agricultural research center would be constructed (Mukund, 2003) Over the years, Pepsi failed to
meet the majority of the promises, the national government faced a financial crisis being unable to

Political Claims of Advancement of Women

political claims of advancement of women through SHGs.
"With one of the groups in our federation, bank did not sanction the loan even after the rating was

Analysis : Vinayak Damodar Savarkar
Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was (28 May 1883 – 26 February 1966) was a poet, playwright and a
fierce advocate of India 's independence. He espoused dismantling the caste system in India, and
reconversion of the converted Hindus back to Hindu religion. This term was coined Hindutva, as
opposed to Hinduism which is regarded in a social/political communalist context. Hindutva, on the
other hand, advocated national unity and fraternal brotherhood among all Indians.
Hinduism is a movement centred around a religion, or in essence, is a religion which spans roughly
4th century CE. The followers of the religion are called Hindus, though in a different connotation as
compared to Savarkar 's Hindutva. For Savarkar, Hindus were a people who lived in Hindustan, and
were part of a common territory. In Old Persian, the land ahead the Indus River was called Hinduš
(the Iranian interpretation of Sanskrit Sindhu), hence modern Persian Hind, Hindū. This added to the
Iranic suffix –stān became Hindustan, "land of the Hindus" . Savarkar was a staunch believer of
national unity as opposed to a religious fanatic. A reported atheist, he held Hindus as a cultural and
political entity.
Since Savarkar held Hindus as a national identity, his perception opposed the definition of religion
as the pinnacle of man 's priorities, as thrust by major religious texts or religious bodies. Hindutva
regarded the definition of a citizen by territorial allegiance, rather than ethnicity, religion or some

The First Ten Amendments Of The First Amendment
On the cold night of March 5th, 1770, a mob of American colonists were protesting outside the
Customs House in Boston. One colonist threw a snowball hitting Private Hugh Montgomery.
Montgomery replied with a shot into the crowd. This led the rest of the British Army soldiers to
shoot into the crowd killing five people in an event that would later be known as the Boston
Massacre (Foner and Garraty). After this protest, more and more taxes were levied against the
colonies, particularly regarding tea. To add, trade with nations besides Great Britain was prohibited.
These affronts were met with the tarring and feathering of British tax collectors and the infamous
Boston Tea Party. As a result of this, Massachussetts was essentially ruled by martial law. This
finally culminated with a declaration of independence by the Second Continental Congress on July
4th, 1776. The United States of America was formed.
Due to the British oppression, every American, including our founding founders, wanted greater
protection of their rights. To accomplish this, James Madison drafted the Bill of Rights and by the
end of 1791, every state had ratified the first ten amendments. The First Amendment is primary, not
just because it is at the beginning, but because it articulates the First Freedom and the nature of that
freedom. It states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right
of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." By
connecting the freedom of religion with the freedoms of speech and press, the First Amendment
showed the people of America what it is to be a human (Bill of Rights).
The first part of that amendment is the result of the Founding Fathers' experience with the long
history of religious strife in Europe such as the French Wars of Religion, the Thirty Years' War, and
the Crusades. They realized that religious disagreement can be counterproductive and create
setbacks in politics. It would be even worse if one religious group was favored. So, they ensured that
the federal government cannot interfere in the citizen's personal

Narrative Essay About A Birthday Day
"What are you guys talking about?" I questioned.
Mom replied, " Well, me and your dad was talking about what we were going to do for your
birthday." I was six years old and I lived in Charleston, West Virginia, and my parents having my
birthday party for me. So, my mom called some of her friends and I texted some of my friends too
because I wanted to have fun with them, it was summer time. So, we started with some friends over
then a little more people started to come. After ever one was there my mom got the chocolate cake
and strawberry ice cream from the store that she had ordered and she got some food to, she got hot
dogs, hot dogs buns, two bags of family size chips, MTW Dew, Dr. Pepper, Sprit, water, some cups,
and some dip for your chips. When she got back we was playing and I saw my mom pulled in the
drive way and I helped her with the groceries and helped her out with some things when she got
home. So, when I was helping her and my aunt saw me helping my mom getting groceries out of the
car and putting them away.
My aunt told me, " Go play with your friends it's your birthday. Go be a kid."
I replied, "Okay, but at least can I put up the groceries for my mom, please."
Aunt declined, " No! Go do what I was asked you to do, you might not have another fun birthday
party like this one."
I answered, "Alright I will go but can I just get these last few groceries.
Aunt replied, " Go on now before I whoop your butt."
So, I went on playing with my friends, we were

India 's Post Colonial Populist Democracy
The recent experience of India's post–colonial populist democracy with Moditva (the rise of
Narendra Modi as India's prime minister by mobilizing varied sections of the Indian population:
corporates, media, middle classes, Hindutva activists, a section of Other Backward Classes and
Dalits along with the poor) has fundamentally challenged the liberal conception of democracy. It is
interesting to note that a person widely regarded as anti–minorities while ignoring the normative
principle of 'rule of law' when protecting the minorities from majoritarian violence, gets elected by
popular mandate. In this respect, Moditva ('Modified' version of Hindutva) might pose possible
threats to India's democratic processes in future.
Moditva is not just a specific political agenda with a personality cult but it can be called as what
Michael Freeden calls a 'micro–ideology'. As 'nationalism' is a micro–ideology in Freeden's
parlance, Moditva can be also described as a peculiar 'micro–ideology'. Previously, Hindutva had
shown its limitations by not ensuring electoral majority for the BJP in the 1990s. In contrast,
Moditva has not only ensured a clear majority for BJP (282 seats) with 10 seats more than the
majority mark and over 60% seats for the National Democratic Alliance (336 seats) but has also got
a large proportion of votes 31% for BJP and over 38% for NDA. Although, the vote share of the BJP
led NDA is way below the 50% mark, in a competitive multiparty democracy with a history of

Doctrine of Frustration
Contract assignment Doctrine of frustration Doctrine of frustration ACCORDING to Section 56, an
agreement to do an act impossible in itself is void (for example, an agreement to discover treasure
by magic). Supervening impossibility or illegality refers to the intrusion or occurrence of an
unexpected event or change of circumstances beyond the contemplation of the parties; such event or
change of circumstances must be so fundamental as to be regarded by law as striking at the root of
contract as a whole or the basis of the contract no longer exists. Subsequent impossibility in the UK
is referred to as Doctrine of Frustration. A contract is deemed to have become impossible of
performance and, thus, void under the following circumstances: ... Show more content on

'The data for decision, on the one hand, the terms and conditions of the contract, read in the light of
the then circumstances and, on the other hand, the events which have occurred.' In the nature of

of what its rule requires. It is for that reason that special importance is necessarily attached to the
occurrence of an unexpected event that, as it were, changes the face of the things. But even so, it is
not hardship or inconvenience or material loss itself which calls the principle of frustration into
play."(18) IMPOSSIBILITY OF PERFORMANCE AMOUNTS TO FRUSTRATION A man can be
expected to do what is humanly possible but he cannot be expected morally or legally to do what is
not physically possible. It cannot be disputed that when a thing is beyond the human control it
cannot be expected from the party which had undertaken to do the work to suffer the consequences
of not proceeding with the contract work and in such a situation both the parties are relieved from
their contractual responsibilities. The word "impossible" in Section 56 of the Indian Contract Act,

Conversial Statements Of Mani Shankar Aiyar
7 CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENTS OF MANI SHANKAR AIYAR
–By Nikhil Bhushan
Most of the civil services officers keep away from news after the retirement. Even if they are in the
limelight, it is mostly for the decisions taken by them during their service.
However, former diplomat and Rajya Sabha MP Mani Shankar Aiyar is an exception. Ever since he
has left the Indian Foreign Service to join Congress, Aiyar has often hit the headlines for wrong
reasons.
Mani Shankar Aiyar has an image of a maverick politician who has constantly defied the party line.
But this time he has transgressed all limits of established diplomatic norms. Aiyar suggested during
a Pakistani TV channel chat show that talks between India and Pakistan can only move forward ...

"BA pass Ajay Maken cannot write."
Many people accuse Mani Shankar Aiyar of a class bias. But this prejudice isn't apparently restricted
to his political opponents. In September 2011, the Union Sports Minister Ajay Maken wrote a letter
to the PM Manmohan Singh blaming his predecessor Aiyar for playing an "obstructionist role" that
eventually led to huge cost and time overruns in the Commonwealth Games.
An infuriated Aiyar raised questions over the authenticity of the letter. Speaking to a news channel,
Aiyar retorted, "We have to establish the authenticity of this letter. It contains words like
'dichotomous' which I cannot believe that a BA Pass from Hansraj College would know. So, is this
really a letter written by him or somebody else cooked it up.
Aiyar is an alumnus of Delhi's prestigious St. Stephens college whereas Maken has passed out from
the Hansraj College. He even dragged the Kirori Mal College into the controversy by declaring that
Amitabh Bachchan was the "sole achievement" of KMC.

The Communal Politics Of India
INTRODUCTION –
The communal politics in India started from 1970s when emergency was declared in India. The
Congress was unable to fulfill its promises, conditions of India deteriorated, GDP dumps. Other
parties were also unable to deliver the expectation of people, and then BJP comes with communal
politics by raising Babri Masjid case. Rathyatra led by Advani is an important event which created
enthusiasm in a particular section of community. After Dandi March, this is the one yatra which has
succeeded because there were organizations in every level; it was pre–planned and executed
carefully which made it successful. The extreme case of communal riots in India took place on 27
February, 2002. The abuse of human rights started when in Sabarmati Express; one coach of Hindus
who were on pilgrimage was burned at the Godhra station in which Muslims were considered as
mastermind behind this action. The next day the Muslims community was targeted and huge killing
took place. The organizations like Rashtriya SwayamSevak Sangh and Vishwa Hindu Parishad were
involved in these riots. Many Masjids were destroyed, Muslim women were raped, their shops were
looted. The State Government and police failed to stop the communal violence instead they helped
the communal forces in locating Muslims by giving voters list and other documents for
identification.

The Government Of India With The British Essay
There is a natural propensity to evaluate the Government of India with the British. But Indian
Parliament and parliamentary institutions and procedures are not a copy of the Westminster system.
There are fundamental differences between their system and Indian system. Democracy extends way
beyond elections. However, the holding of transparent, credible and accountable elections is
important for any democratic country and election observers make a significant contribution in this
process. In this essay, I will be heading a team of British officials who will be observing the
Parliamentary election process in India in May 2014. Being from Britain, we will witness a lot of
similarities between the political systems of India, however there will also be some differences, like
India being a federal republic and a parliamentary democracy at the same time while Britain
practices constitutional monarchy. Furthermore, India has a president and a prime minister, whereas,
although the head of state in Britain is in the form of a prime minister, it also has a symbolic royalty
head in the form of a ruling monarch. Generally the elections in India has been quite peaceful, well–
organized but quite unpredictable at the same time, especially with the growing influence of
upcoming parties.
English Parliament has developed through somewhere in the range of three hundred years of history.
In Britain, it can be the main establishment which practices sovereign forces and on which there are

Jammu And Kashmir Conflict
Jammu and Kashmir
Dhruv Malhotra In the summer of 1947, millions forcefully emigrated from India to Pakistan.
People were uprooted from their homeland and sent to live in Pakistan. Some would travel on foot,
some in carriages, but most by Train. The trains were given a warm sending off by the officials and
sent on their way. As the train reached Pakistan, the doors opened and out flowed a pool of blood.
Almost everyone on the train had been massacred. One of those people was my great–grandfather.
Thus, due to this catastrophic and melancholic incident, escalated the great conflict between India
and Pakistan, more specifically, the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir is a state in India, that
shares a border with Pakistan, and since the partition of India and Pakistan, it has been disputed
land. Both countries claim the land is theirs, which has subsequently caused several wars between
the two. My stance on the issue is to call for autonomy. To give Jammu and Kashmir self
governance, which will let the state make the decisions rather than the two countries. It ensures
peace for the people of the state, rather than wealth for either India or Pakistan. Jammu and Kashmir
was originally a part of India when the conflict began, though, due to its high Muslim population, it
leaned more towards Pakistan. According to The Times of India, "53% of the population of Kashmir
is Muslim or of Muslim descent" and wants to "secede to Pakistan". However, the conflict arises

The Hindutva Movement: A Struggle Towards a “Hindu Secular...
"We must look after the Muslims and treat them as part of us." This seems like a pleasant statement
from Mr. Bal Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena party and a proponent of the Hindutva
movement, but it hardly works to conceal the villainous face of the Hindu nationalistic movement he
follows. This movement aims to protect the interests of India by enhancing cohesion not only within
the Hindu classes but also with other religious communities present in the country. However, this
movement has numerous controversies attached to it, out of which, the razing of the Babri Mosque,
the land transfer in Kashmir and the Christian massacre in Orissa standout, underlining that this
movement is not to protect the secular India, but is for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
VHP leader Paramhans Ramdas, on the other hand, announced in the public address system,
"Demolish the structure. You will never get another opportunity'. He also gave slogans "Give

at the Commission (Business–standard.com). Apart from the VHP, Shiv Sena and the RSS have also
conceded their involvement in the Babri Mosque catastrophe (Business–standard.com;
Telegraph.co.uk).This event put a huge question mark over India's status as a secular state but there
was more to come from the Hindutvadis. The movement deeply sowed the seeds of conflict in
Kashmir as well. Here, the problem traces its roots to the annual Hindu pilgrimage, known as,
Amarnath yatra. According to an article by Gautama Navlakha in the Economic and Political
Weekly, "Amarnath yatra was, until recently, a little–known journey undertaken by small numbers
of Shaivite Hindus. As recently as 1989, only 12,000 pilgrims, in a country of nearly a billion
Hindus, undertook the pilgrimage" (qtd. in Rao). However, the Hindutvadis, over time, popularized
this yatra, like other Hindu nationalists had done in the past (Rao). This caused the number of
pilgrims to increase every year. They manifested the idea that the

The Bihar Fodder Scam
"Bihar has become a byword for the worst of India, of widespread and inescapable poverty, of
corrupt politicians indistinguishable from mafia–dons they patronise, caste–ridden social order that
has retained the worst feudal cruelties....of chronic misrule that has allowed infrastructure to
crumble, the education and health system to collapse, and law and order to evaporate" (Long, 2004,
p.17–18). India has witnessed many scams over the years, and the number keeps increasing by the
day. It is most commonly the chief ministers, state and central ministers and members of various
political parties who are often reported for their involvement in scams. This article presents a
descriptive and exploratory analysis of informal money transfer relating to one such infamous case
of 'Bihar Fodder Scam'. The article also delves into the core ethical issues involved, and the best
way for the concerned government bodies to respond to such cases of corruption in order to reduce
such misconducts. The World Bank defines corruption as the abuse of public power for private
benefit (Worldbank, 1997). The Animal Husbandry Scam a.k.a the Fodder Scam, is a clear example
of this definition. The case in question is a consequence of the incessant greed of politicians' for
money and power. It is reported that about Rs. 950 crore were embezzled from the government
treasuries of Bihar in this 17 year long case (Indian Express, 2014). Despite being the third most

Hindu Nationalism And Its Impact On India
of India, due to which it remained marginalized as an electoral post (not social post) for a while. The
primary support of Hindu Nationalism comes from the Northern and Western parts of India. Being a
center right movement, it is seen to have major differences with Congress. They are driven by
ideology and faith, and are traditionally conservatives. It is seen that they are able to mobilize a
large section of the population who trust leaders and parties that use religion as a mobilizing factor.
India being a Hindu majority country, has a large Hindu religious voter base and the BJP over the
year have been able to mobilize on this portion of the population who are driven by the idea of
Hindu nationalism. It is important to remember that even though the Hindu nationalism movement
was marginalized electorally during the early years after the Independence, it remained strong and
influential throughout society and over there years gradually gained support and electoral posts in
Indian politics. The BJP is a party of the strong, meaning that it is an organization run by the
educated upper class and is backed by political and economic elites. It follows a dual targeting voter
strategy, in which the Party politics takes care of the interests of the upper class (consisting of
business and political elites), and then there are social organizations in place that do charity and
other social work that takes care of the poor. The BJP as a party has an organization centric party
structure.

Pest Analysis: The PEST Analysis Of India
I chose India as it is the fourth largest economy in the world on the basis of purchasing power parity

attractive destinations for business and investment opportunities because of its huge manpower base,
diversified natural resources and strong macro–economic fundamentals.

In this section I will identify relevant issues and trends that a business may encounter should they
wish to operate in India. I will do this in the form of a PEST analysis outlining the positives and
negatives in each category.
Political:
India is the world's largest democracy, with the world's second largest population, and It is also a
multi–lingual state. The Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 2014 elections by a
landslide, replacing the long–governing secularist Congress Party. Economical:
India has the world's second largest economy, and a large, multi lingual skilled workforce. Although
corruption and poverty are widespread throughout the country. As well as corporate tax rates being

India 's The Indian State
The Indian state, while ostensibly secular, nevertheless has institutionally always been set up to
intervene in religious affairs. The Indian constitution "enshrines the right to individual freedom of
religion, [but] also empowers the state to intervene in Hindu religious institutions." (Sen 16) The
constitution, for instance, calls on the state to ban untouchability, an abhorrent Hindu practice,
establishing affirmative action to help certain disadvantaged religious groups and puts in place
separate personal laws for different religious groups. (Sen 16) These policies allow institutions like
the government, and the courts to intervene in communal issues, making the government a player in
conflicts like the Babri Masjid. The Congress party, while a secular party, was consequently
involved in decision–making that would favour either the Hindus or the minorities. India's Supreme
Court was also involved in legislating on religious affairs. As Sen writes, India's version of
secularism can be traced back to the debates in the Constituent Assembly, where the constitution
was drafted in the late 1940s. The Assembly saw a lot of debate over what form this secularism
would take. "There were several voices in the Assembly, including that of B.R. Ambedkar, who
wanted to severely restrict the role of religion in the public sphere. Hence, scientist K.T. Shah raised
the demand that there be an article expressly stating that the Indian state has 'no concern with any

The Journey to Independence It was 11:54 PM, six minutes before my birthday was officially over. I

my friends. It had been my birthday for twenty–three hours and fifty–four minutes, and I had heard
nothing from them. I lay in my bed, wondering how this had happened. Before I started high school,
I was part of a close–knit group of friends that was nearly inseparable. When freshman year began,
however, things changed. I was gradually pushed out of their circle as they started making new
friends. In the beginning, I let it happen, thinking that they would eventually come back to me, but I

I went along with it in the beginning, afraid that I would miss out on something unforgettable. But
as their partying continued, they began to make new friends that I had little in common with. My
fear of getting in trouble with my parents was much stronger than my desire to go to parties, which
ended up alienating me. My friends and I were still on good terms, but the tension between us grew
as our definition of "fun" changed. By the time Christmas break had rolled around, I was ready to
take a break from school and celebrate the holidays, which included my birthday, with my friends
and family. Unbeknownst to me, my fifteenth birthday would be one to remember in the worst way
possible. I did not have high expectations for my birthday. I planned on having an easygoing day;
my family and I were going to see a movie and have dinner at a restaurant of my choice. I was
expecting some "Happy Birthday" text messages and Facebook posts from friends, a phone call
from my grandma, and some kind of birthday surprise from my best friends. Before I knew it,
however, my birthday was over, and I had heard from just about everyone except for my two closest
friends. I was overwhelmed with confusion, sadness, and eventually, resentment. I began to think
about how I had gone above and beyond to celebrate their birthdays. I had planned and hosted
birthday dinners and parties for both of them, in addition to showering them with cards and gifts.

A Conspiracy In Politics

  • 1. A Conspiracy in Politics Politics is much more than agendas these days. It is a game involving intricate strategies and manoeuvres to outsmart the others. Big games are played in today's political arena and these big games are limited to the big player only. No matter how loyally or how long a person serves, the game plan is limited only to the highest tier of the parties or maybe even less. The best and the trickiest of games are played with a lot of confidentiality to ensure its success. Politics, mind you, is not a child's play. Politicians are extremely smart people. By using the word smart, I don't put them into the category of Einstiens or Newtons. What I am trying to convey is that they are very observant and capable of noticing the smallest of opportunities. They plan with vision and over time it pays off. In the light of the present situation, I may sound a complete fool for what I have just said. Had politicians been so smart and so thoughtful in their strategies then why can't the Indian National Congress see the very evident inefficiency of Mr. Rahul Gandhi? He has become a subject of numerous jokes on the social media and his incompetency has come to the fore over the years. It is very clear that Rahul has failed miserably to connect to the people. On the other hand, there is Modi, a magnetic personality with great oration skills. More importantly he has Gujarat to show for his achievements. Is the Congress so naive to neglect it and go about doing nothing at all? It must have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Leadership Of Integral Humanism And Hindutva Essay A brand is a customer experience represented by a collection of images and ideas; often, it refers to a symbol such as a name, logo, slogan, and design scheme. A product or service to which human beings attach a bundle of tangible (functional product and service (characteristics) and intangible (emotional and/or symbolic) meanings that add value. A brand has one strategic purpose and that is to differentiate itself from competitors. Politics Political parties can be viewed as Brands and the politicians are the products All of them, segment markets and then try to target them. They have different strategies for different segments. "Some fail some succeed". Brands BJP, Congress, BSP, AIADMK, JD etc. These are the competing brands fighting for one goal. They have various products viz. the politicians. Brand: BHARTIYA JANTA PARTY Brand BJP formed in 1951 under the leadership of Dr.Syama Prasad Mookerjee. Philosophy of Integral Humanism and Hindutva. BJP has formed government in central for 3 times till now. Rise of A Powerful Sub–Brand Under the Nurturing of Umbrella brand BJP Rise of a product that became a brand of its own. Powerful sub brand – NARENDRA MODI. It is not easy for most product brands to go from regional to national but the dilution of the only other national brand, the Congress, and a common need for change also helped MODI. And this brand MODI tapped the common underline need and connect it to benefits that's why it goes national. There is difference ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Short Essay on Coalition Governments in India India won her independence in 1947 and for winning this independence Congress, as a political party, played the predominant role. The leaders of the Congress party, then, were great leaders – stalwarts – really dedicated to the cause and to the party which they served. Mahatma Gandhi was the undisputed leader and there were leaders of such caliber as Jawahar Lai Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, C. Rajagopalacharya, Pattabhi Sitaramayya, Sarojini Naidu, Subhash Chandra Bose and a host of others of all castes and all creeds. Among Muslims, there were Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, Abul Kalam Azad, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai and among the lower castes – lower castes as then was called – Kamraj in South and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Nobody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There had started a gradual decline in the overall governance of the country and the worst ever shock was received by the country in the Chinese aggression in 1962 in which India had to suffer a great humiliation for which Krishna Menon, as the Defense Minister was largely responsible. Further on, on the economic front also, the government in power failed to remove the disparities between the rich and the poor, rather the disparities increased, and there started a voice being raised regarding the backward classes – who were regarded as economically backward – and a further class of 'Other Backward Classes', other than the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes came into being and Chaudhary Charan Singh, otherwise and originally a Congressman became the leader and the champion of the Backward classes. During the regime of Indira Gandhi, politics had declined to manipulations and maneuverings to remain in power and the mobilisation of money and muscle power and the media, the law interpreting authorities and the educational system – all these were attempted to be managed in her favour. Just after gaining independence, Mahatma Gandhi had suggested that congress as a political party should be disbanded. That of course, was not done but under Indira Gandhi a vertical rupture took place in the party with a number of old stalwarts deserting the party, forming into Congress (O) under Nijalingappa and Indira Gandhi formed her own group and this was named as Congress (I) of ... • 7. Struggle Between Hindu and Secular Nationalisms in India... Struggle Between Hindu and Secular Nationalisms in India India holds a prominent place in the history of imperialism and decolonization, making recent events in this country of nearly one billion especially important to the current day citizen. India also faces problems associated with accommodating religion and diversity within a large federal republic, making their experience important for Americans concerned with these issues. India faces growing action of governing which invites the use of violence to achieve political objectives. In spite of India's size and importance, it is hard for an American to gain an understanding of the issues and conflicts which have set the stage for the most recent revival of Hindu nationalism. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nijhawan remarks, "the contending sides swear by secularism." However, secularism as it has come to be practiced by the Congress Party and the Indian government (hereafter referred to simply as secularism) comes under scrutiny for four general reasons: the unequal treatment of different religious groups, the implied hostility to religion, the poor translation of secularism from the West to India and the inability of secularism to create a national identity for India. That both sides attempt to appropriate the term secularism can lead to confusion; even the U.S. government had some problems in its effort to catagorize the debate about secularism. In the opinion of the Hindu nationalist, the Congress commitment to secularism does not bring about the tolerance, the Sarva Dharma Sambhava to be expected of Hindu rulers. P.N. Joshi, President of the Rashtriya Hindu Manch, a militant Hindu organization, explains in his 150 page pamphlet, Secularism in Action: A Fraud, A Conspiracy to Destroy Hinduism that in reality, the picture of secularism in action in this country is neither beautiful not presentable ... in fact, it is ugly and abominable and the produce even though so well packed in gorgeous colours is foul and stinking'.ii The concept of secularism in this country, in fact, means to ignore the Hindus, to sell the rights and interests of the Hindus with a view to appeasing the Muslims, Sikhs and Christians for buying their votes. • 9. The Great Betrayal By Modi And The Bjp The 'Great Betrayal" Act by Modi and the BJP is slowly but steadily unfolding. Credibility is rapidly diminishing amongst majority of his followers, admirers, supporters and sympathizers. By aggressive speech making during poll campaigning, Modi had endeared himself to the "Aam Aadmi', particularly sections of the Middle Class, by raising "Great Expectations" and hopes among them by "Ache Din Aane Wale Hain" slogan. Modi's high decibel campaign promises included: "Good Governance – Simple and Smart governance through transparency"; stemming the rot corruption, particularly in high places; controlling price rise and inflation; upholding dignity and self respect of women; countering LoC violations and terror acts firmly; and many others like "One Rank One Pension" etc., reduced to print in the BJPs 2014 Election manifesto. A brief review of happenings during the last two months of Modi's governance provide clear signals on what to expect in posterity. Transparency is the foremost pre–requisite for "Good Governance – Simple and Smart" governance. Modi has also retracted into what was derisively hailed during the UPA rule as "Man Mohan Singh" silent mode. After becoming PM, Modi has insulated himself from the media glare. Even on the social media network, he is no longer as aggressive and communicative on key issues as he was during the pre–election orchestra. Why is Modi sulking away from media glare? Is he afraid to face the media and answer questions on various key issues? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Pros And Cons Of Ban On Tobacco Should Be Banned The ban is also supported by those who believe it is morally wrong to entice people to engage in a behavior so detrimental to good health, and further argue that it is a government's responsibility to protect the health and well being of its peoples. There are also those who base their opposition based on the financial impact. The costs of lost productivity, treating tobacco related illness, the financial impact of illness and death on families are staggering. Monies not spent on cigarettes could be spent on services and goods. (2010. "Ban on Tobacco Ads by the Government of India") There are those who do not support such a ban. Among the many reasons for their disapproval are those centering around limiting the intrusion of government into personal choice and restraint of trade. Many believe that government should not be able to restrict personal choice, or restrict the advertising practices of a legal product. They further argue that the ban will be difficult if not impossible to enforce, since the ban does not include traditional Indian tobacco alternatives or advertising in foreign media outlets. They also point to opposing studies that show no correlation between advertising dollars spent and tobacco products sold. (2010. "Ban on Tobacco Ads by the Government of India") ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those against the ad ban point out that the tax revenue generated by the tobacco industry add to the government coffers. They further argue that in India, the government contributes so little to its health and welfare systems that the benefits of tobacco's monetary contribution to the economy trump the cost of healthcare. They further argue that the cost illnesses caused by tobacco usage are offset by those who die early from tobacco related illness. Premature deaths save the cost of government benefits and pensions. Not only Indians, the entire world has its eyes set on the way Mr. Narendra Modi leads and governs India. But has he been able to live up to his trailer's expectations? Let's take a walk through his trailer – "the election campaign" andjudge for ourselves, "ache din aaengey ya nhi". The trailer boasted of NDA government addressing following issues: Good Governance Price Rise Employment and Entrepreneurship Corruption Black Money Decision and Policy Paralysis Poor Delivery Credibility Crisis People Public Private Partnership Infrastructure enhancement Improve foreign relations The movie started with our PM Modi's swearing ceremony, where Prime Ministers of all the SAARC countries were invited. His emphasis was on fostering the foreign relations, especially amongst BRICS nations. He was playing safe by sustaining and building relationships with foreign nations. Roles Of Sangh Parivar CHAPTER 2 HINDU NATIONALISTS AD THEIR LOVE FOR FASCISM Introduction Various organisations in India who laid their foundation resting their ideology on' one nation, one culture, one language and one religion' are found to follow the footsteps of Nazi Germany. Nazi Germany was adopted as the apt role model for the Sangh Parivar, especially the concept of anti– Semitism was embraced with more enthusiasm. Like the Jews were for Germans, Muslims are for the Hindu fanatics of Sangh Parivar. Indian's didn't really have any sense of nationalism up until the British came to power. Kaviraj states "it is often essential to ask whose history this is, in the sense of history for whom rather than history of whom."(Page 170) Because it depends on which said the story is told. In earlier periods of India they felt a weaker version of patriotism which was "an ancestor for Indian nationalism"(Page 174) which would be different from today's patriotism and that there is no connection between being patriotic and being Indian. He says that the consciousness becomes nationalist before it becomes India's only because they happen to realize it later in time. Kaviraj regards India to be "closely parallel" to what Gramsci said about Italian nationalism. There are two conflicts, One of memorialism of Italy's Roman past to what it is today and, two today's modernity and the construction of the Italian identity. He compares the two because Italian history had some similar influences to that of colonialism. Gramsci says that there is no concrete line in which Italian culture is connected by, the only "continuity" they have is just propaganda. Each century in India had its own literature. Any time they would summarize a principle of the past they would only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Political Instability : Indian National Congress And The... Political Instability: India has an incredible amount of instability and corruption in politics. India has two main political parties– Indian National Congress and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). These two are the major parts of the Parliament government. Currently, there is a vast amount of corruption involving major issues like elections, railways, customs, revenue collection, etc. An example of political instability relating to corruption is the Hawala Bribery Scandal in 1990. The Hawala Scandal involved over 115 top politicians in India including the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, Leader of Opposition, members of Congress, etc. The politicians were allegedly receiving payments from four brothers who were brokers of the Hawala companies, which amounted to upwards of US$18 million. The case and investigation started with the arrest of two militants in 1991. One by One, the cases of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) were getting thrown out. Evidence was counted as inadmissible and most politicians got off scot free. After the cases were dropped, it became public in a sworn testimony that the judge for the cases was made to make it all go away. It included three top political parties and everyone involved was a much involved as the next. This scandal rocked the country as their democracy lost trust and loyalty from the people. National elections are held and different political parties ended up getting different number of seats. Since the 1984 elections, no party has established a simple majority of its own. So in the end, always a Coalition government came into power. This time it was different. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, won a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha elections, with 282 seats on its own. The alliance it lead–National Democratic Alliance (NDA)–had 336 seats in the lower house of the Parliament. This thing could be attributed to the military style campaign by Modi and ... • 25. Research Paper On Indira Gandhi Indira Gandhi (1919–1984) was among the most powerful and skilled leaders in the Indian history. She was the only daughter of Pd. Jawaharlal Nehru. She was cut out for politics. She had the classic and prerequisite bent of mind when it came to political machinery and social reforms. In course of her practice, she became public's favourite. K.A. Abbas rightly said in his book 'Indira Gandhi: Return Of The Red Rose', "Indira Gandhi's accession is not hereditary. It's the reaffirmation of the principles and policies formulated by Jawaharlal Nehru." On the evening of 25th June, 1975, Indira Gandhi had a concise meeting with her close friends and confidants at her residence. Among them was an old advisor and friend Siddharth Shankar Ray, home minister Om Mehta, Prashnachandra and RK Chanda. They went through all the documents and legal accounts, and ultimately, as per Article 352, they came to a conclusion that internal emergency should be declared. They also gave many reasons for the same; some of them being that the government cited threats to national security, the 1973 oil crisis, the economy of India was in shambles and there was rampant desertion and disorder across the nation. Hence, owing to all these reasons, and above all, safeguarding her position in the political hierarchy, Indira Gandhi decided to write a letter to the president of India, seeking agreement on her decision of declaring internal emergency. Before this, she asked three questions to Siddharth Shankar Ray. Her first question was, can a letter regarding internal democracy be written to the president without consulting the cabinet. Second, she questioned him regarding the language and tone of the letter. And lastly, she questioned him regarding the content of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. The Pros And Cons Of Globalization With globalization comes migration, as people choose to immigrate from one place to the other in search of better opportunities. Because of globalization, nations attempt to homogenize their diverse population, with disregard to individuals own cultural ties. The backlash of this disregard causes violent civil conflict, as differing cultures branch out and mobilize for their own cause. According to Samuel. P Huntington, people are no longer defined by their political, ideological or economic positions, but rather their cultural identity. Huntington classified the world into 8 major civilizations: Sinic, Japanese, Hindu, Islamic, Orthodox, Western, Latin American and African. Because of globalization, these cultures are migrating with one another and are creating nations that are multi– cultural. Huntington argues that different cultures will always clash because of their basic immutable differences, increased interactions, social change, and the West's superiority. For example, the West versus Islam is the most dominating culture clash in modern time, as evident in the Gulf War, Afghanistan war, and Iraq War/ The increased communication between the two have exaggerated their differences and the Wests repeated attempt to universalize values, and institution while maintaining their superiority, has caused resentment within the Middle East and Muslim communities across the globe. A Visit At The Georgia Dome Everyone expects their sixteenth birthday to be this grand wonderful event with friends, family, and maybe some cake, but what most don't expect is to make their eighteenth just as important. Yes, turning eighteen is just as significant as turning sixteen because it symbolizes your transformation from a teenager to an adult, but that is why we celebrate turning sixteen as heavily as we do. My eighteenth birthday truly was a grand event, one where even in my wildest imaginations I never pictured doing the things I did, it felt like something out of a Hollywood movie script. The celebration started with a concert at the Georgia Dome, on October 1st, leading all the way to its grand finale, a trip to New York City, on October 10th. It was two solid weeks of surprise after surprise with each surprise being bigger and better than the last, or at least in my opinion anyway. October 1st was seeing One Direction, my favorite band, live, the 2nd was surprise tickets to Cirque Du Soleil, the 3rd was a surprise party with friends and family, the 10th through the 12th was a trip to New York City, and lastly and later on in the day of the 12th was seeing Disney's Frozen on ice. I don't think I have ever been happier than when attending all five of these events. This castes system makes it extremely difficult for one to change social classes. Women also have a problem when trying to break into the workplace, because it is something that is seen as taboo. • 39. Analysis : Vinayak Damodar Savarkar Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was (28 May 1883 – 26 February 1966) was a poet, playwright and a fierce advocate of India 's independence. He espoused dismantling the caste system in India, and reconversion of the converted Hindus back to Hindu religion. This term was coined Hindutva, as opposed to Hinduism which is regarded in a social/political communalist context. Hindutva, on the other hand, advocated national unity and fraternal brotherhood among all Indians. Hinduism is a movement centred around a religion, or in essence, is a religion which spans roughly 4th century CE. The followers of the religion are called Hindus, though in a different connotation as compared to Savarkar 's Hindutva. For Savarkar, Hindus were a people who lived in Hindustan, and were part of a common territory. In Old Persian, the land ahead the Indus River was called Hinduš (the Iranian interpretation of Sanskrit Sindhu), hence modern Persian Hind, Hindū. This added to the Iranic suffix –stān became Hindustan, "land of the Hindus" . Savarkar was a staunch believer of national unity as opposed to a religious fanatic. A reported atheist, he held Hindus as a cultural and political entity. Since Savarkar held Hindus as a national identity, his perception opposed the definition of religion as the pinnacle of man 's priorities, as thrust by major religious texts or religious bodies. • 41. The First Ten Amendments Of The First Amendment On the cold night of March 5th, 1770, a mob of American colonists were protesting outside the Customs House in Boston. One colonist threw a snowball hitting Private Hugh Montgomery. Montgomery replied with a shot into the crowd. This led the rest of the British Army soldiers to shoot into the crowd killing five people in an event that would later be known as the Boston Massacre (Foner and Garraty). After this protest, more and more taxes were levied against the colonies, particularly regarding tea. To add, trade with nations besides Great Britain was prohibited. These affronts were met with the tarring and feathering of British tax collectors and the infamous Boston Tea Party. As a result of this, Massachussetts was essentially ruled by martial law. This finally culminated with a declaration of independence by the Second Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776. The United States of America was formed. Due to the British oppression, every American, including our founding founders, wanted greater protection of their rights. To accomplish this, James Madison drafted the Bill of Rights and by the end of 1791, every state had ratified the first ten amendments. The First Amendment is primary, not just because it is at the beginning, but because it articulates the First Freedom and the nature of that freedom. It states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." By connecting the freedom of religion with the freedoms of speech and press, the First Amendment showed the people of America what it is to be a human (Bill of Rights). The first part of that amendment is the result of the Founding Fathers' experience with the long history of religious strife in Europe such as the French Wars of Religion, the Thirty Years' War, and the Crusades. They realized that religious disagreement can be counterproductive and create setbacks in politics. It would be even worse if one religious group was favored. So, they ensured that the federal government cannot interfere in the citizen's personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

India 's Post Colonial Populist Democracy The recent experience of India's post–colonial populist democracy with Moditva (the rise of Narendra Modi as India's prime minister by mobilizing varied sections of the Indian population: corporates, media, middle classes, Hindutva activists, a section of Other Backward Classes and Dalits along with the poor) has fundamentally challenged the liberal conception of democracy. It is interesting to note that a person widely regarded as anti–minorities while ignoring the normative principle of 'rule of law' when protecting the minorities from majoritarian violence, gets elected by popular mandate. In this respect, Moditva ('Modified' version of Hindutva) might pose possible threats to India's democratic processes in future. Moditva is not just a specific political agenda with a personality cult but it can be called as what Michael Freeden calls a 'micro–ideology'. As 'nationalism' is a micro–ideology in Freeden's parlance, Moditva can be also described as a peculiar 'micro–ideology'. Previously, Hindutva had shown its limitations by not ensuring electoral majority for the BJP in the 1990s. In contrast, Moditva has not only ensured a clear majority for BJP (282 seats) with 10 seats more than the majority mark and over 60% seats for the National Democratic Alliance (336 seats) but has also got a large proportion of votes 31% for BJP and over 38% for NDA. But Indian Parliament and parliamentary institutions and procedures are not a copy of the Westminster system. There are fundamental differences between their system and Indian system. Democracy extends way beyond elections. However, the holding of transparent, credible and accountable elections is important for any democratic country and election observers make a significant contribution in this process. In this essay, I will be heading a team of British officials who will be observing the Parliamentary election process in India in May 2014. Being from Britain, we will witness a lot of similarities between the political systems of India, however there will also be some differences, like India being a federal republic and a parliamentary democracy at the same time while Britain practices constitutional monarchy. Furthermore, India has a president and a prime minister, whereas, although the head of state in Britain is in the form of a prime minister, it also has a symbolic royalty head in the form of a ruling monarch. People were uprooted from their homeland and sent to live in Pakistan. Some would travel on foot, some in carriages, but most by Train. The trains were given a warm sending off by the officials and sent on their way. As the train reached Pakistan, the doors opened and out flowed a pool of blood. Almost everyone on the train had been massacred. One of those people was my great–grandfather. Thus, due to this catastrophic and melancholic incident, escalated the great conflict between India and Pakistan, more specifically, the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir is a state in India, that shares a border with Pakistan, and since the partition of India and Pakistan, it has been disputed land. Both countries claim the land is theirs, which has subsequently caused several wars between the two. My stance on the issue is to call for autonomy. To give Jammu and Kashmir self governance, which will let the state make the decisions rather than the two countries. It ensures peace for the people of the state, rather than wealth for either India or Pakistan. Jammu and Kashmir was originally a part of India when the conflict began, though, due to its high Muslim population, it leaned more towards Pakistan. He also gave slogans "Give another push and demolish the Masjid". He admitted these announcements during his interrogation at the Commission (Business–standard.com). Apart from the VHP, Shiv Sena and the RSS have also conceded their involvement in the Babri Mosque catastrophe (Business–standard.com; Telegraph.co.uk).This event put a huge question mark over India's status as a secular state but there was more to come from the Hindutvadis. The movement deeply sowed the seeds of conflict in Kashmir as well. Here, the problem traces its roots to the annual Hindu pilgrimage, known as, Amarnath yatra. According to an article by Gautama Navlakha in the Economic and Political Weekly, "Amarnath yatra was, until recently, a little–known journey undertaken by small numbers of Shaivite Hindus. As recently as 1989, only 12,000 pilgrims, in a country of nearly a billion Hindus, undertook the pilgrimage" (qtd. in Rao). However, the Hindutvadis, over time, popularized this yatra, like other Hindu nationalists had done in the past (Rao). This caused the number of pilgrims to increase every year. The Bihar Fodder Scam "Bihar has become a byword for the worst of India, of widespread and inescapable poverty, of corrupt politicians indistinguishable from mafia–dons they patronise, caste–ridden social order that has retained the worst feudal cruelties....of chronic misrule that has allowed infrastructure to crumble, the education and health system to collapse, and law and order to evaporate" (Long, 2004, p.17–18). India has witnessed many scams over the years, and the number keeps increasing by the day. It is most commonly the chief ministers, state and central ministers and members of various political parties who are often reported for their involvement in scams. This article presents a descriptive and exploratory analysis of informal money transfer relating to one such infamous case of 'Bihar Fodder Scam'. The article also delves into the core ethical issues involved, and the best way for the concerned government bodies to respond to such cases of corruption in order to reduce such misconducts. The World Bank defines corruption as the abuse of public power for private benefit (Worldbank, 1997). The Animal Husbandry Scam a.k.a the Fodder Scam, is a clear example of this definition. The case in question is a consequence of the incessant greed of politicians' for money and power. It is reported that about Rs. 950 crore were embezzled from the government treasuries of Bihar in this 17 year long case (Indian Express, 2014). Despite being the third most populated state of the country and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. Hindu Nationalism And Its Impact On India of India, due to which it remained marginalized as an electoral post (not social post) for a while. The primary support of Hindu Nationalism comes from the Northern and Western parts of India. Being a center right movement, it is seen to have major differences with Congress. They are driven by ideology and faith, and are traditionally conservatives. It is seen that they are able to mobilize a large section of the population who trust leaders and parties that use religion as a mobilizing factor. India being a Hindu majority country, has a large Hindu religious voter base and the BJP over the year have been able to mobilize on this portion of the population who are driven by the idea of Hindu nationalism. It is important to remember that even though the Hindu nationalism movement was marginalized electorally during the early years after the Independence, it remained strong and influential throughout society and over there years gradually gained support and electoral posts in Indian politics. The BJP is a party of the strong, meaning that it is an organization run by the educated upper class and is backed by political and economic elites. It follows a dual targeting voter strategy, in which the Party politics takes care of the interests of the upper class (consisting of business and political elites), and then there are social organizations in place that do charity and other social work that takes care of the poor. The BJP as a party has an organization centric party structure. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. India 's The Indian State The Indian state, while ostensibly secular, nevertheless has institutionally always been set up to intervene in religious affairs. The Indian constitution "enshrines the right to individual freedom of religion, [but] also empowers the state to intervene in Hindu religious institutions." (Sen 16) The constitution, for instance, calls on the state to ban untouchability, an abhorrent Hindu practice, establishing affirmative action to help certain disadvantaged religious groups and puts in place separate personal laws for different religious groups. (Sen 16) These policies allow institutions like the government, and the courts to intervene in communal issues, making the government a player in conflicts like the Babri Masjid. The Congress party, while a secular party, was consequently involved in decision–making that would favour either the Hindus or the minorities. India's Supreme Court was also involved in legislating on religious affairs. As Sen writes, India's version of secularism can be traced back to the debates in the Constituent Assembly, where the constitution was drafted in the late 1940s. The Assembly saw a lot of debate over what form this secularism would take. "There were several voices in the Assembly, including that of B.R. Ambedkar, who wanted to severely restrict the role of religion in the public sphere. Hence, scientist K.T. Shah raised the demand that there be an article expressly stating that the Indian state has 'no concern with any religion, creed or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. The Journey Of Independence And Independence The Journey to Independence It was 11:54 PM, six minutes before my birthday was officially over. I sat in my darkened bedroom, silent tears streaming down my face, as I waited for a call or text from my friends. It had been my birthday for twenty–three hours and fifty–four minutes, and I had heard nothing from them. I lay in my bed, wondering how this had happened. Before I started high school, I was part of a close–knit group of friends that was nearly inseparable. When freshman year began, however, things changed. I was gradually pushed out of their circle as they started making new friends. In the beginning, I let it happen, thinking that they would eventually come back to me, but I realized that they were not coming back when they let ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I went along with it in the beginning, afraid that I would miss out on something unforgettable. But as their partying continued, they began to make new friends that I had little in common with. My fear of getting in trouble with my parents was much stronger than my desire to go to parties, which ended up alienating me. My friends and I were still on good terms, but the tension between us grew as our definition of "fun" changed. By the time Christmas break had rolled around, I was ready to take a break from school and celebrate the holidays, which included my birthday, with my friends and family. Unbeknownst to me, my fifteenth birthday would be one to remember in the worst way possible. I did not have high expectations for my birthday. I planned on having an easygoing day; my family and I were going to see a movie and have dinner at a restaurant of my choice. I was expecting some "Happy Birthday" text messages and Facebook posts from friends, a phone call from my grandma, and some kind of birthday surprise from my best friends. Before I knew it, however, my birthday was over, and I had heard from just about everyone except for my two closest friends. I was overwhelmed with confusion, sadness, and eventually, resentment. I began to think about how I had gone above and beyond to celebrate their birthdays. I had planned and hosted birthday dinners and parties for both of them, in addition to showering them with cards and gifts. How could my supposed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
