This scrapbook is dedicated to the author's family and friends. It contains photos and stories spanning multiple generations, including the author's grandparents who met in Virginia in the early 1900s. The scrapbook documents family events like church picnics, Christmas celebrations, and trips to Yosemite National Park. It also shares memories and anecdotes and helps preserve the history of the author's large, multicultural extended family.

3. “Has it been awhile since the last church picnic?”

Grandfather was classically educated in Palestine & England. He came to Virginia on a business trip
and fell in love with a young Virginia woman.. His future bride.
4. This is my mother- Sofiea Mohamed Fore.
She taught Science Research Methods at University of
Pacific before marrying my dad. She is beautiful & smart !

Choir Director.. UOP…
Dad had such a keen mind and equally kind heart.
He graduated high school at age 16 and went to Rochester, NY, to study Music
Composition at Eastman School of Music.
While completing his Doctorate, his own father died abruptly and
Dad came home to run the family vineyards near Lodi, Ca.
He later finished his MA at UOP.. where he met my mother.
He produced his short opera in 1951 and his ballet in 1953.
In year 1998, our family again produced Dad’s operatic ballet ‘ Triangle”’at Hutchins
Street Square’s new Performing Center, aka…his old Alma Mater. Lodi High School.
6. My father, Burdette Marion Fore, is the
sweet kid in the white collared shirt.
Our family built a summer cabin at Pacific Valley, on Highway 4, in the Sierra Nevada
Mountains. We still go there when the snow melts and the pass becomes open.
7. Horses , Horses, Horses!
This gentleman is
Tully Cleon Knowles.
He was at the time both a
Methodist Minister and President
of the Methodist College in
Stockton, Ca;
University of the Pacific.
Mother lived with his family for
seven years at the UOP campus…
and “Grandpa Tully “ became my
third grandfather via love.
Mother had grown up on a ranch
near Galt and went to college with
her horse, Tony!
Grandpa Tully and Mother
used to ride their horses along the
UOP levees system.
UOP had stables for the students !
Grandpa Tully would quote
scripture… which Mother later
repeated to me & my siblings.

9. People sometimes ask where I work.
Generally, I work outdoors… in Gods great creation.
Here, we restore a willow bank that has been washed out by winter storms.
We had to engineer the watercourse to redirect the velocities.
The California Conservation Corps does all the great work seen!

11. Here we are testing out native seed mixes at
State Highway 1,along the Pacific Ocean.
The site is called Schooner Gulch.
The sea is in the background.
The air is always fresh and tender there.
We found a bed of rare flowers and were able to save the seedpods.

I was accepted for a job with National Park Service in Yosemite, Ca.
How wonderful to work at Tioga Pass with my fellow rangers.
And yes, those hats were mandatory gear, in rain, snow, sleet &hot sun.
You were permitted to unbutton your shirt collar ONE button only. Those were the days!

16. My father’s family came to America in the 1600s, from France.
The original family name is Faure’.
The Faure's settled in Virginia and the southern states.
After the Civil War, the Faure's and the Posey Families came to Woodbridge,California.
The Poseys came via wagontrain in 1858 . The overland journey from Texas took ten months.
Some of their journey companions were killed by Indians en route.

19. Great grandfather John Marion Posey holds his first
grandchild, my father’s brother.
John Marion adored children and called them his ‘precious little flowers.’
They named the baby Claude Elmo Fore II.
