2. Speaker Chosen
George Smoot
Astrophysicist George Smoot shows stunning new images from deep-
space surveys, and prods us to ponder how the cosmos -- with its
giant webs of dark matter and mysterious gaping voids -- got
built this way.
3. Speaker Chosen
George Smoot
George Smoot is an astrophysicist, cosmologist and Nobel Prize
winner.
6. Speaker captured the attention of
audience:
With the science questions of why is
there so many stars and galaxies.
Why is the universe the way it is.
7. Speaker captured the attention of
audience:
With Computer generated slides of how
the universe was created.
With pictures from the Hubble
telescope.
8. Speaker maintain the engagement of
audience:
By telling stories to help understand
the concept of how the universe
started off and timelines to be able
to relate.
10. Dynamism Level
I gave Mr. Smoot a 3. As I found he
would run on and add a lot of info
that was not needed to express the
information needed to explain his
ideas. As well as not very animated.
11. Tips used
Mr Smoot slides were interesting and
followed the speech. But I am not
sure he has looked into both Nancy
Duarte and Garr Reynolds ideas or
tips for good speeches.
12. Delivery of presenter
Mr Smoot rushed his speech, His
delivery was in a few ways all over
the place. He also kept saying “you
know” & “so”.
13. Comparison of presenters
Sir Ken Robinson to me was much more
a public speaker than Mr. Smoot. He
was able to keep my attention and
interest.
14. Comparison of presenters
Sir Ken Robinson uses humor to keep
the audience interested. Mr Smoot did
try some humor but was more factual
in his delivery.
15. Comparison of presenters
Mr. Smoot did have a passion for his
science of how the universe started.
But did not have the charisma of Sir
Robinson.
16. Comparison of presenters
Mr. Smoot showed he loved his work,
but was not the best to relay the
message of what he wanted to say.
17. Tips for Classmates
Slow down, take your time to get the
point across. Rushing a speech will
get you trough it but will not engage
your audience
