Social Care Issues
The key issue identified in this paper is the understaffing in the facility that results in employees constantly being overworked and stressed. Social
Justice is defined as the fair distribution of society's benefits and responsibilities and their consequences. It focuses on the relative position of one
social group in relation to others in society as well as on the root causes of disparities and what can be done to eliminate them (Canadian Nurses
Association [CNA], 2009). The unjust situation that I encountered is considered social injustice because of the discrimination that the employees
experience when the facility does not replace staff that did not report for work. In effect, the employees are overworked and are more prone to accidents

According to the social determinants of health, "Researchers have identified a host of work dimensions which shape health outcomes". Some of the
factors mentioned are: Physical conditions at work and work pace and stress. It also states, "High–stress jobs predispose individuals to high blood
pressure, cardiovascular diseases, and development of physical and psychological difficulties" (Mikonen & Raphael, 2010). This statement
correlates to the complains that the PSWs have regarding their stressful work environment. According to a PSW on our floor, whenever there is a
staff shortage, she feels very tired and stressed to try to finish her workload for that shift. In PNUR 203, we discussed stress and burnout in
employees . Burnout is defined as a state of physical, emotional or mental exhaustion ("Adult Health", 2012). Employees in the facility are getting
burned out due to the vicious cycle going on. Employees are overworked that leads to exhaustion and results in them not reporting for work. In turn,
the facility does not replace the staff and leave the staff to work with limited resources that ultimately goes back to the overworking and exhaustion of
staff working. It is a cycle that needs to stop for the well being of both the employees and the residents of the home. I also observe employees getting
into arguments with each other due to the stress of the

Human Diversity Issues In Social Work
There are several issues related to issues of human diversity that have influenced the development of my interest in social work. As I take a look around
my community and what is occurring in the world I notice the different cultures, environments, and lack of humanity. I took an interest in these three
categories and learned there are recurring issues within each. There is a lack of cultural competency in the society. Different cultures do not interact
effectively with one another as much as they should. A person may interact differently with a certainculture once they are forced or need to. For
example, a person may only interact with a person from a different culture for work purposes or attending a certain event. Majority of people (cultures)

my peers and underclassmen. (People seem to gravitate towards me for advice frequently.) In high school, I was introduced to becoming a
counselor as a career. I was then convinced that becoming a counselor or a social worker was the career field for me. As a teenager, I developed a goal
and showed an ambition that has not altered. As an adult I would like to continue my journey to become a social worker and eventually open my
own practice. I believe Barry University of Social work would be the best school for me to obtain my goal. Barry University is known for its Master of

Goliath Issues In Social Media
The American people are following the popular things on the social media and not truly knowing the credentials of author of any articles. People can
hide themselves through social media and write anything that without backing it up. A wolf can use sheep's clothing in the social media so therefore
the American people must be aware of that. Politics for the common man and women is a lot of work to stay informed and life is so full of uncreditable
information. The American people sometimes see the Goliath issues that threaten our nation, the constant fight of evil and the snarling realities of
people that are in opposition to a biblical worldview of current events. Wicked people sought to suppress and control access to the truth of the Bible,
which sounds familiar. Men and women were under vigorous persecution for merely translating a written Bible. Their work hurt no one and yet, these
Christians were treated as criminals and persecuted even under the American government. The "establishment church" can be a politician's greatest
enemy, the very people that should have been in support. Christians throughout thousands of years remained faithful, constant and sure unlike the
political figures people encounter in the past, present, and future. When the government is in conflict with the Bible, people... Show more content on

(AASW, Australian Association of social workers, 2015). This profession deals with society and individuals. This aim of this paper is to provide the
understanding of connection between purpose of the social work and communication skills. It also discusses the broad range of challenges,
limitations, code of ethics, and policy issues faced by the social workers. It also critically analysis the situation of people living in Claymore, NSW

They must make decisions about client's treatment issues, maintain professional boundaries, respect client's culture and values and avoid the
conflicts, not to disclose client's information without their consent. In case of my client Kristen Blake and her family, there are so many sensitive
issues which need to be resolved with utmost care and confidentiality. I found Alanah needs help and support as she is the one who had difficult time
in her very young age due to her mother's drug addiction and mental health problems. However, there was an emotional communication barrier
between the journalist and Alanah. As she is my client, she has the right to self determination and she is in charge of making her own decisions and
find solutions to her problems regardless of whether I agree or not with her course of actions. I may provide her guidance and help her to explore the
options but I cannot allow my own opinions and personal biases to influence Alanah. Thus, it is an ethical dilemma for me to act and respect her right
in her best interest.
Alanah and her two brothers have different fathers and they all have been neglected by their parents. As we noticed in the video, that none of their
fathers involved in their upbringing. Before, I engage with Alanah's brothers, I need to obtain consent from Kristen as she is their guardian/parent as
per AASW ethics. Kristen is also struggling to raise all children as she is unemployed and single mother and surviving on centre link payments. Again,
self determination comes into play in Kristen's case as

The Social Issue Of Ideal Body Image
Body image is an issue known around the world, just like eating disorders, it is most commonly seen in woman; however, there are men that suffer
from this issue as well. The social issue of ideal body image affects people of all ages regardless of gender or ethnicity. Body image is the way one
sees their own body in their mind, and they may not feel confident within their own skin, or they may feel unaccepted in society. A person may feel
they might not be skinny enough, big enough, tall enough, dark enough, ultimately they will feel they are not enough to fit into what is acceptable in
the social order around them. People begin forming rash conclusions or observations of their own body's attractiveness, health, and appropriateness, in
early childhood. However, for today's ideal body image, it is just another passing trend that does not reduce the desire children, teenagers, or even
adults may have to follow ideal standards of beauty and attractiveness. Meanwhile because of the epidemic with body image there has been one–half of
females and one–third of males as young as six that have engaged in some sort of dietary behavior. Social influences that can potentially cause people
to form ideas about positive and negative body image can play an important role in the way a person may live their lives, and such influences can be
things such as, family, friends, and social media.
Family can play an enormous roll in forming a body image within family making small remarks can set

The Issue Of Social Contract Theory
'The social contract is not worth the paper it 's not written on. ' Can social contract theory adequately explain why we should obey the law?
In its simplest form, the social contract theory is the view that, within an organised society, people 's rights and duties are bound by a theoretical
contract that they sign with the state. Through the use of the contract, each member 's political and moral obligations are clearly defined, which in
turn intends to benefit the society as a whole. I intend to argue that, as a member of such a civilisation, you have a duty to obey the law and the rules
of this contract in order to increase the liberty and well–being of the people.
Although many philosophers have offered their views on social contract theory throughout time, there are two main theorists whose innovative ideas
have ensured that this is one of the most contentious debates in philosophy. On one side of the fence sits Thomas Hobbes who was the first modern
philosopher to introduce such an idea regarding the relationship between the people and the state. Supporting the theory, he stated that if each
individual is to feel secure within a society, there needs to be some form of legislation created by the state ensuring that this is the case. On the other
side sits John Locke who, as an advocate of the state of nature, believes that a society in which the people act based on their personal morals and their
natural rights will lead to the greatest level of liberty.

Eleanor And Park Social Issues
Eleanor & Park: The Issues of the Past and Present
Today there are many social issues in the United States that existed in the 1980's. Although what are social issues exactly. Well they are problems that
affect individuals and a society as a whole. The book Eleanor & Park, by Rainbow Rowell is a young adult romance novel about two misfit teenagers,
Eleanor and Park, the interactions they have, and the life they live being different from everyone else. The novel starts when Eleanor meets Park
on the bus ride to school when she moves to Omaha, Nebraska in 1986. There are many aspects in Rowell's novel one can look at and relate to,
especially to those that are young even if they are reading about a time before they were even born because these issues still exist today. Rainbow
Rowell's romance novel Eleanor & Park is still relevant today since it shows social issues like bullying, poverty, and racism.
First, name calling is a form of bullying seen throughout the novel. Rowell constantly shows the reader the various times that Eleanor is being
bullied, reminding the readers that this is still a relevant social issue now. In Rowell's novel, she writes a scene where Eleanor is being bullied at
school in gym, "She had everybody else in their gym class calling Eleanor Bozo, but Tina had already moved on to Raghead and Bloody Mary. [Tina
the one bullying Eleanor then goes on to explain why those names fit her] 'Cuz it looks like your whole head is on the rag,' she'd explained today

Social Issues Of The Young Middle Class
Anshul's ethnography represents young people's ability to navigate social issues and structural barriers with creative improvisation of the resources
available to them. This resourcefulness shows that young people amidst neoliberal change are not passive consumers, but strategic negotiators and
tacticians (Jeffrey 2010; Klenk 2010; Dyson 2014). The young middle–class can take these risks because of the safety nets they assumed and built
using Bourdieu's multiple species of capital. But they are nonetheless substantial personal risks made not for narrowly self–optimizing gains but rather
towards improving social issues. Gooptu (2013) has identified, new narratives of enterprise "marking an epochal shift...which lies in the creation of the
new Indians" that are: "the do–ers, who are endowed with what might be called aspirational capital and imbued with 'passion', 'self–belief', and the
'conviction' that 'no dream is distant'" (3). Gooptu writes that these do–ers, "do not place blame on political systems or infrastructure; instead they take
the responsibility themselves, roll up their sleeves, and plunge into action" (3). The young entrepreneurs demonstrate different forms of agency, less in
the form of resistance as the activists in other chapters take, but more of a proactive form of agency, as improvisation and resourcefulness. Many of the
young social entrepreneurs I met resemble the 'new Indians' and 'doers' who do not resist prevailing structures and unequal systems, but

Social Problems
A social problem is normally a term used to describe problems with a particular area or group of people in the world. Social problems often involve
problems that affect real life. It also affects how people react to certain situations. While differences in racial/ethnic prejudices have been explored
extensively in past literature (e.g. Bobo and Zubrinksy's 1996, study of differential prejudices directed toward Hispanic and Black individuals), little
U.S. research has investigated how attitudes toward lesbians, gays, bisexual men, bisexual women, and male–to–female (MtF) and female–to–male
(FtM) transgender (henceforth "LGBT") may differ ( Marcus, 2015).
Social justice that is face among the LGBT is discrimination. Variations in family structures include single–parent families, step families, blended
families, and intergenerational families. Lesbian, gay, and bisexual families experience a special risk of discrimination.A major problem gay people
face is homophobia–an extreme and irrational fear of lesbian and gay people simply because they are lesbian and gay. LGB people are one of the
primary groups at risk of discrimination and oppression (Kirst–Ashman, 2013).
Assess the needs of LGBT Community

Ethical Issues In Social Care
Pertaining to this case challenging social injustice is the ethical responsibility that we are focusing on. "Social workers pursue social change,
particularly with and on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed individuals and groups of people" (NASW, 2008, Ethical Principals Section, para 2). It is
our duty as a social worker to advocate and fight for children, not only when children have been subject to abuse and neglect but also when they are
removed from their family of origin and placed in foster care. Schagrin (2007) states:
Foster children, who depend on society's largesse for their very existence, go largely unseen. Because these are children, they don't fund any political

369)1. We must be the voice for children everywhere who suffer at the hands of others. By following legislative hot topics and calling into and
writing elected officials for support, attending state and local legislation committee meetings and educating the community about child abuse and
neglect we will begin to make changes for our children, the powerless in society. Personally, I believe all children, especially Chelsea deserve to grow
up in a healthy home where they have loving and supportive parents. Children do not ask to be brought into this world and they are also not given the
choice to choose their parents. Given this, children do not deserve to be subject to abuse, no matter the situation they were born into.
There are so many families that are unable to have children and would jump at the opportunity to provide a loving home for children whose parents are
unable to maintain motivation to care for their children. Although I do believe that children should remain with their biological parents because it is
traumatizing to move a child around with strangers, possibly multiple times; sometimes biological parents raising their children is not in the best option
of the child and can be just as

Social Issues In Social Work
Many problems remain in the American society such as the increasing number of people living in poverty, the juvenile crime rate, unaffordable housing
for the working middle–class and poor people, backlash against illegal immigration, and the shortfall in social welfare programs (black). Social
workers try to combat these problems, which are a result of society, economics, and development problems. Social work in the United States is a
profession about promoting and offering social services through practicing with people, communities, and organizations; advocating with and for
clients; and creating social work knowledge (Writing in social work). Social work in the United States utilized the direct practice with individuals,
families, and communities. Social workers need to continue to advocate for social problems (Writing in social work).
During poor law times, society aimed to exclude and discriminate against those who don't belong (red). This trend has continued through today, as
the exclusion of people still exists. The legacy of workhouses and of the Poor Law remains today in the ideology that the family should be the main
provider of care for those in need, poor people should be deterred from seeking help, and public assistance should be below the minimum wage (red).
In the 19th century, Rescue organizations emerged to prevent child cruelty (red). These organizations were a voluntary effort with the task of
investigating and bringing justice to child cruelty. Today, we

Business Brief The problem of state presence in socio–economic life has always been and will be the subject of heated discussions among economists,
sociologists and political scientists. This issue is not only an ideological one, but also of significant importance for the state functioning. It is
undisputable that the implementation of particular tasks by the state turns out indispensable for the functioning of society, however, in terms of market

state frequently builds obstacles preventing economic growth. In many cases state regulations raise company functioning costs, slow down
decision–making processes and limit access to resources necessary for the production of goods and the provision of services. Finally, it is the
consumer who suffers unfavorable effects of such regulations. One of the negative side–effects, in terms of the state interference in the social sphere,
are administration costs covered by the state budget and spent on running and supporting federal agencies. Another negative factor takes the form of
bureaucratic inclinations presented by clerks in creating regulations the objective of which is often lost among inadequate requirements, the maze of
rules difficult to overcome for consumers and entrepreneurs in order to meet due requirements. Additionally, entrepreneurs themselves are trying to
extend the scope of regulations by seeking ways to use them to their own advantage. The costs to be covered by entrepreneurs refer to the necessary
documentation, accounting and legal advice, employing consultants and experts, the purchase of necessary equipment, but also the cost of waiting time

States that have implemented voter registration laws claim that those laws are put into place to prevent voter fraud and safeguard the voting system

Conversely, adversaries to voter registration laws, namely the civil rights movement, contest that voter registration laws impinge on the rights of voting

Zammuto Social Issue
I personally thought that Mrs. Zammuto's presentation was very interesting because it made me think a little deeper about what we had been learning
in class. A lot of our class has been about social business and how a business can solve or alleviate a social issue better than just a charity because the
business offers a sustainable, independent, and scalable way of fixing a problem. But businesses are really formed to solve problems, any problem
whether it be social or not. So while a business for large construction equipment might be required to further progress of the human race, it does not
explicitly solve a social issue. To me it brought up the very important question: If the majority of business out there cannot necessarily exist to solve a
social issue, but must exist to solve some other problem or fill some other demand, how do they have a positive social impact? Here we were

Zammuto talked about how the existence of the Foundation changed views of the company. Specifically, she mentioned employees from the forge.
These men were rather gruff blue collar man's men, who expressed their relationship with Caterpillar as just a job. After showing them some of the
work that the foundation does and how the foundation contributes to society they had a bit of corporate patriotism, they were proud to work at
Caterpillar. In this world it is easy to see corporations as soulless, greedy demigods of capitalism, especially if you're a dirty bleeding heart. But social
programs like the Caterpillar Foundation improved views of the company externally, but internally as well. Internal views of the company, I would
argue are more important. The thing that makes companies successful and powerful is teams. If you can attract good talent that wants to work at your
company, you can build a passionate and competent team. If a Foundation can attract superior employees for less than a fraction of 1% of its profits, it
is getting a fantastic return on

This eliminated the need for an exit visa, a document giving authorization to leave a particular country, which forced the Cuban residents to have
permission to leave the island, as well as the reinforcement that if one leaves the country for a long time, they may not come back. This in effect for
about five decades. Their president, Raul Castro had pledged to update their migration and soon, in 2016, President Barack Obama had stopped the rule
and had allowed both U.S and Cuba to go to either of their countries as they wish. Another issue Cuba faces is poverty, in where at least 7 out of 10
Cubans live in poverty, In 2006, Cuba ranked 6th out of 102 countries on the human poverty index. Due to this, rations are given to the residents of
Cuba because food has continued to be in short supply for the island, in which the rations allow each citizen to have a ration book, which allows them
to buy only a certain amount of food supplies each week.Even with recent work to produce more food, there are just not enough farmlands available.
The same is with it`s human rights,in where the Cuban government refuses to recognise human rights and denies legal status to human any human
rights group. Government authorities also harass, assault and imprison human rights defenders who attempt to document abuses. Canada, on the other
hand, Canada's aboriginals are treated very unfairly as they do not experience the rights that other Canadians receive. They experience poorer health
due to unhealthy water and inadequate housing and crowding living spaces. Many Aboriginals live in poverty, same as Cubans, which will result in the

The Issue Of Social Media
A limitation of this project stems from the limited study on this subject. The internet is a relatively new mission field and the internet presents unique
challenges with limited case studies to evaluate. As a result, this evangelistic tool is confronted with much reluctance and concern. First, some argue
that evangelism should be a face to face encounter and not from the internet. Inviting folks into this new dimension of ministry is very challenging.
Additionally, because the Silent Generation and Baby Boomers are less likely to be active on social media, they are harder to convince that social
media ministry is a good for the church. "One of the issues surrounding social media is the digital divide because of the lack of knowledge about
computers and the lack of access to computers as well as high speed broadband (wifi)." This limits who you can reach with social media and actually
creates a digital schism with economic and social barriers. She says, "...the gap between the technological have and have nots becomes deep a deep
divide when high–speed broadband is unavailable and inaccessible because of cost."

The Issues Of Social Class Run Rampant
The issues of social class run rampant in both Emma and Jane Eyre. While reading these novels, it was not hard to view where these women stood.
Jane started as a governess, who fortunately was able to procure an inheritance that rose her to the same standing of Mr. Rochester. Emma, however
does not move about in her social class, rather, she "helps" Jane and Harriet move about their class.
Looking at Emma, Emma sees the Woodhouses and Knightleys as coequal, as the town's distinguished families. The social classes in Emma do not
really stick to certain groups;
"Though it is clear that families are ranked in terms of the concepts of relative "gentility" and "vulgarity," we cannot specify any exact relationship

Social friendships are only social interactions and the social world of Highbury seems to have a general knowledge base of its own. You don't have
to be involved in an event to know all about it. The other characters in the same circle as Emma see the lines that social class has drawn.
The start of the novel begins with a description of Emma and her social standing. "Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable
home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence; and had lived nearly twenty–one years in the world with very
little to distress or vex her (5)." By doing this Austen allows the reader to get a glimpse of Emma Woodhouse from the very beginning.
In Emma we see the social class most notably in the relationships and marriages of Emma, Harriet, and Jane. The marriages between all three of the
couples is set in their own social class. Emma and Knightley are connected through their being of the higher classes in Highbury. Jane and Frank are
only connected somewhat through their social class, but only because Frank is sort of immature and needs some work to become a better man, and
Jane is a very respectable woman who will help Frank reach his potential. The marriage between Harriet and Robert is set within their social class
because, at the end of the book, we find that Harriet's father is a respectable man with some money. This elevates her

The Issue Of Social Services
Social services are available in the United States to help citizens through the financial hardships which are all too prevalent in our society. The degree
to which a state provides social services depends on many factors including state and federal budgets, current job opportunities, and cost of living. Take
Texas, a state which is known for its low cost of living along with its low taxes. Yet, an article by the Burnt Orange Report contends that Texas is one
of the states with the highest rates of poverty. (Cadik) Whether or not this claim is true is up for debate. The fact is Texas does face the issue of
poverty just like the rest of the nation does. The state has chosen to address the issue by implementing two social programs designed to help those in
need: the Temporary Assistance for Needy Familiesprogram, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. We 'll cover both of these
programs in detail, but we 'll also be looking at the trade off involved in increasing funding for these social services and how they would affect
low–income Texans. First up is the TANF program which is a federal effort to assist low
–income families by providing cash welfare to eligible
recipients. The goals of this federal program are to "(1) provide assistance to needy families so that children may be cared for in their own homes or
in the homes of relatives; (2) end the dependence of needy parents on government benefits by promoting job preparation, work, and marriage; (3)

such as Intensive Behavioral intervention (IBI). This happened because of the decision the government of Ontario had made to lower the age to
access the services and lowering funding to programs, which offered the IBI system. However, in light of new developments around this issue,
specifically changes on the government's decision to reverse their decision on the age cut out for access. We will be looking at how that decision could
have affected agencies, in particular the Toronto Catholic School Board (TCDSB)autism team. We will also explore what the autism team has been
doing and what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I recently learned that the TCDSB is running on a deficit, which makes it difficult for the autism team to hire more social works. Currently they only
have two Social Workers in the autism team and they cover two zones with in the TCDSB (2016).
Also, it is important to understand the definition of community development. In the Article "partnering Occupational Therapy and Community
Development", the authors, quoting Wilcock (1998), defined community development from a occupational therapy perspective as:
"...Community Consultation, deliberation, and action to promote individual, family, and community–wide responsibility for self–sustaining
development, health, and well being. It is a holistic, participatory model aimed at facilitating a community's social and economic development, based
on community analysis, use of local resources and self sustaining programs." (Banks & Head, 2004)
It is very interesting to note the mentioned of" facilitating a community's social and economic development", in the "Social Issue" research essay we
looked at what the government in Ontario has been doing in order to reduce poverty in the province, and we found that poverty has been rising and a

Ethical Issues Of Social Media
Ethical Issues in Social Media
Emerging Information Technologies are faced with numerous ethical issues. One of the most centers of ethical debate in Information Technology is
social networks. Social networking has changed from a niche phenomenon to mass adoption. Although the concept of social networking was formulated
in the 1960s, the advent of fast internet has sent the concept viral. Currently, social networks have been dogged with myriad ethical issues. Privacy
issues are the epicenter of these ethical issues. Some of the ethical problems that have emanated from social networks include hacking, stalking, credit
card theft, and social network identity theft. Resultantly, most of social media users are haunted by the dilemmas such as how much personal
information to put on social media, how they can control the audience of their profiles, and whether the information they delete from their profiles is
well disposed of. This paper highlights the social network technology, and the ethical issues associated with it.
Describing Social Network The concept of social networking was coined back in the 1960s when the University of Illinois launched a Plato
computer–based education tool (Gross & Acquisti, 2005). Social network is founded on the idea that there is a predictive structure in which people
know each other either directly or indirectly. Social networking technology works on notions such as six degrees of separation which states that
everyone on earth is separated from

The Issue Of Social Class
Social class is a "tag" to define your status in a community. One of the main requirements you must have to be in the Upper class, is to have
wealth and power. That is basically it, and obviously the absence of those characteristics could mean you are in a Middle or even in the Lower
class. Sports are an activity that people do for pleasure that requires physical activity and sometimes has rules for the players to follow in order to
play the game. It is most commonly played outdoors. It can improve your cardio, health, and physical condition. For example, it can prevent things like
cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer or even mental illnesses like depression.
Your social status in America is defined by your income, Although that is not how it works all around the world. For example, in ancient Japan, a
merchant (they win a lot of money depending on what they sale) were considered the lowest class because they didn't grow the commodities they sold.
But a samurai was somewhere in the middle class because they were soldiers that followed the honor code.
There are a great variety of sports all throughout the world, but the most popular worldwide are: Futbol, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Track,
Bicycle, etc... One of the advantages of playing sports is that you get healthier as you play and have fun. Also you get more social skills, and so it
could help fight depression or anxiety. Sports use more math than you may think. For example all the averages in Basketball, or

Social Issues In The Kite Runner
The ethnic cleansing in Afghanistan significantly decreased the population of Hazaras in attempt to keep the Pashtuns as the vast majority of the
population. As the minority and as the Shi'a, the Hazaras are oppressed to this day. In the historical fiction novel, The Kite Runner, one of the
protagonists play a major role as the persecuted one during the time of war and tension between the two racial groups of the Hazaras or Shi'a and the
Pashtun or Sunni. In The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini uses the historical conflicts in Afghanistan to convey the impact of social classes and ethnic
tensions on opportunity.

Amir's father, Baba, earns his living as a successful businessman in Kabul. Baba and Amir lives with their servants, Hassan and Ali; although they

Sunnis. Therefore, they tend to be "poorer and less educated than other Afghanis" (Afghanistan). The society's disdain towards the race prevents them
from being able to have a higher position in the social class to gain respect from others. Specifically, due to the high population of the Pashtuns, they
"have dominated the country", suppressing the "other ethnic groups [who] have not had a strong voice" (Shamnad). Hassan and his father do not make

The Issue Proposal : Social Media
Issue Proposal: Social Media
Technology has taken over our world. Electronics devices such as iPads, computers, Surfaces, and Smartphones make it easy for everyone to stay
connected to social media. Technology is defined as "the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry" Online
Etymology Dictionary). Social media is defined "as websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social
networking" industry (Online Etymology Dictionary)". Websites such as Facebook,Myspace, Instagram, Twitter, Skype, Snapshot, Pinterest, and the
E–mail makes it possible to stay in touch with family and friends. It's obvious that our world has changed dramatically. People use the social media
for everything, for example many people the use social media to communicate with family or friends, pay bills, to do homework, for work, online
schooling, and to shop. Social media also allows us to meet new people. People also used social media to find a long lost family member or even a
long lost friend. Some people actually use websites like this to keep in touch with loves ones well others use it to bully people or make fun of other
people. Most people also tend to isolate themselves from their friends and family. Social media sites has a positive and negative effect on our life. But
the question is has social media had a positive or negative effect on our life? The goal will be to prove that social media has more of a

Social Issues: Class Change
Social Issue Class Change The social issue that the author of this report has decided to focus on touches on two of the enumerated types of social
issues and problems that could be selected for this assignment, and that is social mobility and poverty. There seems to be much banter about how
immensely difficult it is for people to break the mold of the class that they are raised in or that they enter in early adulthood. The author of this paper
holds that people slide up and down the social and economic scale all the time. It is true that generational changes are usually not major and vast, but
that is more a function of choice and inaction than it is doom or fate.
Questions Answered As far as how this topic fits intosociology, the answer to this is quite clear. Poverty is a blight on any society and it has many
detrimental effects to the community including the mid– to upper echelons of the social strata in a society. For example, people in poverty often feel
destitute and desperate and this manifests quite often in the form of robberies, drug dealing and other means for people to elevate their status, their
cash flow or even just to eat for that day. Sociologists, many of the conflict and feminist perspective, point out that there are strong and sometimes
insurmountable barriers that trap people in poverty and this includes racism, cost of education, inability to access cost–effective birth control and
sexism (CSUDH, 2013)(Stanford University, 2013). Plenty is

Social Work Boundary Issues
Boundary issues in social work can be placed into five conceptual categories revolving around five central themes pertaining to social worker: intimate
relationships, pursuit of personal benefit, emotional and dependency needs, altruistic gestures, and responses to unanticipated circumstances (Reamer,
2003). It is usually for anyone to be appreciative for something so a gift would symbolize his or her way of thanks. Well, for social work practice, some
boundary issues can arise when social workers and clients engage in gift giving. However, a gift may bring great meaning due to effective services by
a client to appreciate the social worker but not all gifts are meant to receive. Some agencies permit staff to accept gifts only with understanding,

Social Movements : Political And Social Issues

Essay
Social movements have been seen as large informal organizations that have put more attention on areas that dealt with political and social issues and in
doing so started revolutions that were focused on making changes that were important to their societies. (Wiki) Two of the social movements that I
have decided to focus on were in one way or another successful in their social movements were Iceland and Chile compared to the other nations that had
revolutions and had not really succeeded. The reason that some social movements are more successful than others is that everyone within the
community come together to unit in a common goal. They use whatever resources that are available to them, whether it be the media, Facebook,
Twitter, or a grassroots effort of interaction with each individual person spreading what they hope to change. Everyone comes together to find a better
solution to the problems that they want fixed and at times hope it is accepted by the government for more permanent change. Other reasons that social
movements were successful was how the community went about implementing the change. Asocial movement can be as simple as protesting peacefully
or at times it might have a violent with the intention of making the government and society hear what it is that you want them to change. The Iceland
social movement, was a peaceful protest that started with one man Hordur Torfason on October 11, 2008 he

Social Issues In My ГЃnetia
Throughout the books of My ГЃntonia, society and class played an increasingly prevalent part in Jim's life as he grew old. The timeline of the book
portrays the social tensions between the immigrants and the white families as Jim's perspective on the world steadily expands. On the farm, there is a
common theme of simplicity and natural setting, in town Jim is able to comprehend the underlying contempt the merchant families have for the
foreigners, and further on as an adult the harsh reality of society's impact on reputation. While out on the farm, Jim's life lacks common social
interactions found in a normal person's childhood because of the diverse and minuscule population found on the prairie. The simplicity of life on the
farm is consistent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When looking into Jim's life as a middle–aged adult the masked tensions reveal fully, depicting the grave circumstances surrounding reputation through
society's eyes. After ГЃntonia gives birth to her first child Ambrosch replies, " You better put that thing in the rain barrel,"(150) alluding to ГЃntonia's
disgrace. He would go as far as killing his own niece if it meant saving his family's reputation. However, even though the child is a reminder of
ГЃntonia's degradation, she still decides to keep her baby, signifying her inability to fully integrate with America's subtle caste system. Since the white
town boys see the country girls as being good for sex without marriage, ГЃntonia's manipulation is no surprise. Even though Larry Donovan, "Didn't

before Larry and ГЃntonia became close she knew her standing in the class complex, "'I'm a country girl... and I doubt if I'll be able to manage so well
for him in the city.'"(146) Here, ГЃntonia is blatantly describing her social standing as an immigrant compared to those of the native Caucasian
population. While the West had a greater population of foreigners, desensitizing Jim to their cultures, nativistic contempt for the immigrants floods the

My Social Issue : Unfair Trials
Section 1: My Social Issue: Unfair Trial
1.The social issue I chose to talk about is called "Unfair Trials in the United States." The topic of unfair trials deals with a ton of issues like wrongful
sentences, unfair judicial systems, and the government being corrupt. I decided to do this topic because it one interests me and the second reason is
because my best friend was wrongfully convicted and put in prison. I am always looking at cases like these kinds of things and looking at different
perspectives on these cases. The problem about unfair trials is that we are putting good people away for a small mistake for a long time and rapists and
murderers for a shorter period of time. "Ex–Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner is set to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

blame approach applies to unfair trials because so many people to be exact 5,000–10,000 wrongful convictions in the United States according to
Professor Marvin Zalman. He stated that "2,000 innocent defendants going to prison every year....and another 3,000 receiving lesser felony
sentences, should move the innocence reform agenda." (Marvin Zalman. 2012.) He is saying in the article so many people who were convicted
either should not of been convicted in the first place or if they were supposed to, got more harsher sentences that they should have gotten. The jails
and prisons in the United States are overflowing with inmates because people who got harsher sentences for petty things are being sent to prison.
Innocent people who got in trouble for only talking to a minor or smoking marijuana get sent to prison when they really need to be sent to a county
jail for a small amount of time. A lot of the times I have seen people who have gotten caught formurder get off or get a lesser sentence like Casey
Anthony who was convicted of first degree murder of her daughter. People accuse other individuals on why the system is so corrupt yet that individual

Social Policies And Welfare And Social Issues
Social policies are public policies of which the government uses for welfare and social issues. Welfare, according to American Politics Today, is "the
financial or other assistance provided to individuals by the government, usually based on need" (Bianco 448). These welfare programs play a role in
citizen 's lives, especially those of low income. However, in some instances, they are there to help the wealthy as well, such as bailouts of the financial
sector. As the textbook reads, "the persistence ofpoverty remains the primary motivator for most social policy today" (Bianco 450). The rapid
growth of social policy is proving that the rate of income inequality in the United States is growing at a steady pace. For example, the income
distribution "from 1979 to 2009 the average income of the top 1 percent grew by $700,000 to $1,220,100 (a 133 percent gain), compared to a $2,600
gain to $18,900 (16 percent) for the bottom fifth of the income levels. The wealth gap is even greater: the median networth of U.S. households in 2007
was $120,300, but the median wealth for the top 10 percent was $1.89 million, and this group held 73 percent of that nation 's wealth" (Bianco 450).
The economy in America has an unequal wealth distribution where a small percentage of the population posses most of the wealth in the country,
while the rest of the country has little to spare. This leads to poverty and income inequality. To measure income equality "economists often measure

Social Issues In I Am Malala

for what's right. There are several issues going on in Pakistan but more specifically in the valley of Swat. The social issues going on in Pakistan are
gender discrimination, education rights, and extremism. Gender discrimination is a very big issue in Pakistan, more specifically Malala's village of
Swat, as shown through the book I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai. For example, Rohul Amin, Malala's grandfather, showed discrimination to his
own daughters! The discrimination was shown on page 29 when Malala states, "School wasn't the only thing my aunts missed out on. In the
morning when my father was given a bowl of cream with his tea, his sisters were given only tea. If there were eggs, they would only be for the boys.
When a chicken was slaughtered for dinner, the girls would get the wings and the neck while the luscious breast meat was enjoyed by my father, his
brother and my grandfather" (Yousafzai 29), Amin has his own daughters grow up knowing that they're seen as lesser than which is crazy on so many
levels. Therefore, gender discrimination is a social issue and shown through Rohul Amin's treatment of his daughters. In addition, the murder of a

Social Issues In The Movie The Help
"The Help" is a movie about African–American maids working in white households in Jackson, Mississippi. The two black maids, Aibileen Clark
and Minny Jackson, tells their side of the story to a young white woman, Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan, who is a journalist who decides to write a book
from the maids point of views. Skeeters intention for writing this book is exposing the racism they receive while working for white families in
Jackson. Aibileen Clark takes care of white children and helps raise them and cleans around the house, while her best friend, Minny Jackson, is an

During this time social inequality was culturally acceptable in this movie. "Normative culture consist of the ways we establish, abide by, and

houses, cooked, raised their children, while abstaining by a set of guidelines/rules that they had to follow in order to work for them. A black maid
was not allowed by any means to go to the bathroom inside the house, they had to take it to the restroom outside that was built specifically for them.
Minny Jackson on the other hand disobeyed this rule to use the restroom inside the house in which caused her to get fired. Minny Jackson violated a
norm. A norm is "the established standards of behavior maintained by a society–both big and small" (Witt 59). Another character that went against the
norm was, Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan. Skeeter is a college graduate who tries to expose on the quandary of the black maids as they spoke on their

The Social Justice Issue Of Poverty
As an advocate for social change, I chose to focus on the Social Justice issue of poverty. I realize that the issue of poverty is a critical and very
sensitive area because so many residents of low–income status are faced with reality of living in an unfortunate and rather disadvantaged financial
situation. Those whom struggle with being effected by poverty are also faced with having limited availability to resources as well as power and a
sense of security because of deprivation of privilege. From my current research I see that there is statistical data providing a quantitative Approach to
understand just how concerning the continued growth of poverty is and how that has transformed America as a whole. There are also supportive
theories to aid in the realization of how this social issue pulls out examples of oppression through the targeted populations that face poverty the greatest
and hoe those groups are segregated from the more privileged groups within society. These are drivers, which perpetuate social injustice because they
allow for transparency of a system that lacks structure and that promotes nonequivalence between each individual.
At the governmental level, the issue of poverty has become more of a corporate social responsibility but one of the more growing concerns is that
initiatives focused on addressing the issues regarding poverty are not properly put in place. There are not enough advocates acting as the voices for
those who cannot be heard that struggle

Contemporary Issues In Social Policy
Contemporary Issues in Social Policy
By Nazia Howell
October 2017
Social policy refers to the policies used by government for welfare and social protection (Spicker, P.) that are usually made by central Government and
implemented by local authorities to tackle current social issues such as poverty and racism. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have now devolved
and have their own laws and legislations on several issues.
This essay will explore three contemporary issues in relation to social policy, whilst supporting these issues with legislation and economic context for
each issue.
The three issues that will be explored are: Welfare, Health and Pensions. Defining social policy, and understanding social policy becomes imperative, to
enable understanding of the contemporary issues within it.
Social policy was introduced in the early 19th Century, post war. At this time,William Beveridge introduced the idea of a Welfare State to address
poverty. He released a report for social reform known as the 'five giants' within society: squalor, disease, ignorance, idleness and want. The welfare
state brought many positive improvements in Britain and Government passed reforms to address the poverty levels, introducing "cradle to grave
"support. The National Health Service was set up which gave free health care to all and laws and Acts were put in place to help the young, the old,
the sick the unemployed and the working class in times of need. The five issues raised by Beveridge

Social Care Issues

  • 1. Social Care Issues The key issue identified in this paper is the understaffing in the facility that results in employees constantly being overworked and stressed. Social Justice is defined as the fair distribution of society's benefits and responsibilities and their consequences. It focuses on the relative position of one social group in relation to others in society as well as on the root causes of disparities and what can be done to eliminate them (Canadian Nurses Association [CNA], 2009). The unjust situation that I encountered is considered social injustice because of the discrimination that the employees experience when the facility does not replace staff that did not report for work. In effect, the employees are overworked and are more prone to accidents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the social determinants of health, "Researchers have identified a host of work dimensions which shape health outcomes". Some of the factors mentioned are: Physical conditions at work and work pace and stress. It also states, "High–stress jobs predispose individuals to high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, and development of physical and psychological difficulties" (Mikonen & Raphael, 2010). This statement correlates to the complains that the PSWs have regarding their stressful work environment. According to a PSW on our floor, whenever there is a staff shortage, she feels very tired and stressed to try to finish her workload for that shift. In PNUR 203, we discussed stress and burnout in employees . Burnout is defined as a state of physical, emotional or mental exhaustion ("Adult Health", 2012). Employees in the facility are getting burned out due to the vicious cycle going on. Employees are overworked that leads to exhaustion and results in them not reporting for work. In turn, the facility does not replace the staff and leave the staff to work with limited resources that ultimately goes back to the overworking and exhaustion of staff working. It is a cycle that needs to stop for the well being of both the employees and the residents of the home. I also observe employees getting into arguments with each other due to the stress of the ... • 2. Human Diversity Issues In Social Work There are several issues related to issues of human diversity that have influenced the development of my interest in social work. As I take a look around my community and what is occurring in the world I notice the different cultures, environments, and lack of humanity. I took an interest in these three categories and learned there are recurring issues within each. There is a lack of cultural competency in the society. Different cultures do not interact effectively with one another as much as they should. A person may interact differently with a certainculture once they are forced or need to. For example, a person may only interact with a person from a different culture for work purposes or attending a certain event. Majority of people (cultures) ... In high school, I was introduced to becoming a counselor as a career. I was then convinced that becoming a counselor or a social worker was the career field for me. As a teenager, I developed a goal and showed an ambition that has not altered. As an adult I would like to continue my journey to become a social worker and eventually open my own practice. I believe Barry University of Social work would be the best school for me to obtain my goal. Barry University is known for its Master of Social Work program. • 3. Goliath Issues In Social Media The American people are following the popular things on the social media and not truly knowing the credentials of author of any articles. People can hide themselves through social media and write anything that without backing it up. A wolf can use sheep's clothing in the social media so therefore the American people must be aware of that. Politics for the common man and women is a lot of work to stay informed and life is so full of uncreditable information. The American people sometimes see the Goliath issues that threaten our nation, the constant fight of evil and the snarling realities of people that are in opposition to a biblical worldview of current events. Wicked people sought to suppress and control access to the truth of the Bible, which sounds familiar. Men and women were under vigorous persecution for merely translating a written Bible. Their work hurt no one and yet, these Christians were treated as criminals and persecuted even under the American government. The "establishment church" can be a politician's greatest enemy, the very people that should have been in support. Christians throughout thousands of years remained faithful, constant and sure unlike the political figures people encounter in the past, present, and future. When the government is in conflict with the Bible, people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ethical Issues In Social Work Assessment Task– 1 Introduction – "The social work profession facilitates social change and development, social cohesion and the empowerment and liberation of people". (AASW, Australian Association of social workers, 2015). This profession deals with society and individuals. This aim of this paper is to provide the understanding of connection between purpose of the social work and communication skills. It also discusses the broad range of challenges, limitations, code of ethics, and policy issues faced by the social workers. It also critically analysis the situation of people living in Claymore, NSW one of the most disadvantaged suburb in Australia, and relates the case study of Claymore with social worker's role and their challenges. ... They must make decisions about client's treatment issues, maintain professional boundaries, respect client's culture and values and avoid the conflicts, not to disclose client's information without their consent. In case of my client Kristen Blake and her family, there are so many sensitive issues which need to be resolved with utmost care and confidentiality. I found Alanah needs help and support as she is the one who had difficult time in her very young age due to her mother's drug addiction and mental health problems. However, there was an emotional communication barrier between the journalist and Alanah. As she is my client, she has the right to self determination and she is in charge of making her own decisions and find solutions to her problems regardless of whether I agree or not with her course of actions. I may provide her guidance and help her to explore the options but I cannot allow my own opinions and personal biases to influence Alanah. Thus, it is an ethical dilemma for me to act and respect her right in her best interest. Alanah and her two brothers have different fathers and they all have been neglected by their parents. As we noticed in the video, that none of their fathers involved in their upbringing. Before, I engage with Alanah's brothers, I need to obtain consent from Kristen as she is their guardian/parent as per AASW ethics. Kristen is also struggling to raise all children as she is unemployed and single mother and surviving on centre link payments. Again, self determination comes into play in Kristen's case as ... • 5. The Social Issue Of Ideal Body Image Body image is an issue known around the world, just like eating disorders, it is most commonly seen in woman; however, there are men that suffer from this issue as well. The social issue of ideal body image affects people of all ages regardless of gender or ethnicity. Body image is the way one sees their own body in their mind, and they may not feel confident within their own skin, or they may feel unaccepted in society. A person may feel they might not be skinny enough, big enough, tall enough, dark enough, ultimately they will feel they are not enough to fit into what is acceptable in the social order around them. People begin forming rash conclusions or observations of their own body's attractiveness, health, and appropriateness, in early childhood. However, for today's ideal body image, it is just another passing trend that does not reduce the desire children, teenagers, or even adults may have to follow ideal standards of beauty and attractiveness. Meanwhile because of the epidemic with body image there has been one–half of females and one–third of males as young as six that have engaged in some sort of dietary behavior. Social influences that can potentially cause people to form ideas about positive and negative body image can play an important role in the way a person may live their lives, and such influences can be things such as, family, friends, and social media. Family can play an enormous roll in forming a body image within family making small remarks can set ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Issue Of Social Contract Theory 'The social contract is not worth the paper it 's not written on. ' Can social contract theory adequately explain why we should obey the law? In its simplest form, the social contract theory is the view that, within an organised society, people 's rights and duties are bound by a theoretical contract that they sign with the state. Through the use of the contract, each member 's political and moral obligations are clearly defined, which in turn intends to benefit the society as a whole. I intend to argue that, as a member of such a civilisation, you have a duty to obey the law and the rules of this contract in order to increase the liberty and well–being of the people. Although many philosophers have offered their views on social contract theory throughout time, there are two main theorists whose innovative ideas have ensured that this is one of the most contentious debates in philosophy. On one side of the fence sits Thomas Hobbes who was the first modern philosopher to introduce such an idea regarding the relationship between the people and the state. Supporting the theory, he stated that if each individual is to feel secure within a society, there needs to be some form of legislation created by the state ensuring that this is the case. On the other side sits John Locke who, as an advocate of the state of nature, believes that a society in which the people act based on their personal morals and their natural rights will lead to the greatest level of liberty. • 7. Eleanor And Park Social Issues Eleanor & Park: The Issues of the Past and Present Today there are many social issues in the United States that existed in the 1980's. Although what are social issues exactly. Well they are problems that affect individuals and a society as a whole. The book Eleanor & Park, by Rainbow Rowell is a young adult romance novel about two misfit teenagers, Eleanor and Park, the interactions they have, and the life they live being different from everyone else. The novel starts when Eleanor meets Park on the bus ride to school when she moves to Omaha, Nebraska in 1986. There are many aspects in Rowell's novel one can look at and relate to, especially to those that are young even if they are reading about a time before they were even born because these issues still exist today. Rainbow Rowell's romance novel Eleanor & Park is still relevant today since it shows social issues like bullying, poverty, and racism. First, name calling is a form of bullying seen throughout the novel. Rowell constantly shows the reader the various times that Eleanor is being bullied, reminding the readers that this is still a relevant social issue now. In Rowell's novel, she writes a scene where Eleanor is being bullied at school in gym, "She had everybody else in their gym class calling Eleanor Bozo, but Tina had already moved on to Raghead and Bloody Mary. [Tina the one bullying Eleanor then goes on to explain why those names fit her] 'Cuz it looks like your whole head is on the rag,' she'd explained today ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Social Issues Of The Young Middle Class Anshul's ethnography represents young people's ability to navigate social issues and structural barriers with creative improvisation of the resources available to them. This resourcefulness shows that young people amidst neoliberal change are not passive consumers, but strategic negotiators and tacticians (Jeffrey 2010; Klenk 2010; Dyson 2014). The young middle–class can take these risks because of the safety nets they assumed and built using Bourdieu's multiple species of capital. But they are nonetheless substantial personal risks made not for narrowly self–optimizing gains but rather towards improving social issues. Gooptu (2013) has identified, new narratives of enterprise "marking an epochal shift...which lies in the creation of the new Indians" that are: "the do–ers, who are endowed with what might be called aspirational capital and imbued with 'passion', 'self–belief', and the 'conviction' that 'no dream is distant'" (3). Gooptu writes that these do–ers, "do not place blame on political systems or infrastructure; instead they take the responsibility themselves, roll up their sleeves, and plunge into action" (3). The young entrepreneurs demonstrate different forms of agency, less in the form of resistance as the activists in other chapters take, but more of a proactive form of agency, as improvisation and resourcefulness. Many of the young social entrepreneurs I met resemble the 'new Indians' and 'doers' who do not resist prevailing structures and unequal systems, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Social Issues : Social Problems With The LGBT Social Problems with the LGBT By LaTonya Jones Capella University Social Problems A social problem is normally a term used to describe problems with a particular area or group of people in the world. Social problems often involve problems that affect real life. It also affects how people react to certain situations. While differences in racial/ethnic prejudices have been explored extensively in past literature (e.g. Bobo and Zubrinksy's 1996, study of differential prejudices directed toward Hispanic and Black individuals), little U.S. research has investigated how attitudes toward lesbians, gays, bisexual men, bisexual women, and male–to–female (MtF) and female–to–male (FtM) transgender (henceforth "LGBT") may differ ( Marcus, 2015). Social justice that is face among the LGBT is discrimination. Variations in family structures include single–parent families, step families, blended families, and intergenerational families. Lesbian, gay, and bisexual families experience a special risk of discrimination.A major problem gay people face is homophobia–an extreme and irrational fear of lesbian and gay people simply because they are lesbian and gay. LGB people are one of the primary groups at risk of discrimination and oppression (Kirst–Ashman, 2013). Assess the needs of LGBT Community Board members need to be educated regarding the issues and needs of lesbian and gay people. • 11. Ethical Issues In Social Care Pertaining to this case challenging social injustice is the ethical responsibility that we are focusing on. "Social workers pursue social change, particularly with and on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed individuals and groups of people" (NASW, 2008, Ethical Principals Section, para 2). It is our duty as a social worker to advocate and fight for children, not only when children have been subject to abuse and neglect but also when they are removed from their family of origin and placed in foster care. Schagrin (2007) states: Foster children, who depend on society's largesse for their very existence, go largely unseen. We must be the voice for children everywhere who suffer at the hands of others. By following legislative hot topics and calling into and writing elected officials for support, attending state and local legislation committee meetings and educating the community about child abuse and neglect we will begin to make changes for our children, the powerless in society. Personally, I believe all children, especially Chelsea deserve to grow up in a healthy home where they have loving and supportive parents. Children do not ask to be brought into this world and they are also not given the choice to choose their parents. Given this, children do not deserve to be subject to abuse, no matter the situation they were born into. There are so many families that are unable to have children and would jump at the opportunity to provide a loving home for children whose parents are unable to maintain motivation to care for their children. Although I do believe that children should remain with their biological parents because it is traumatizing to move a child around with strangers, possibly multiple times; sometimes biological parents raising their children is not in the best option of the child and can be just as ... • 12. Social Issues In Social Work Many problems remain in the American society such as the increasing number of people living in poverty, the juvenile crime rate, unaffordable housing for the working middle–class and poor people, backlash against illegal immigration, and the shortfall in social welfare programs (black). Social workers try to combat these problems, which are a result of society, economics, and development problems. Social work in the United States is a profession about promoting and offering social services through practicing with people, communities, and organizations; advocating with and for clients; and creating social work knowledge (Writing in social work). Social work in the United States utilized the direct practice with individuals, families, and communities. Social workers need to continue to advocate for social problems (Writing in social work). During poor law times, society aimed to exclude and discriminate against those who don't belong (red). This trend has continued through today, as the exclusion of people still exists. The legacy of workhouses and of the Poor Law remains today in the ideology that the family should be the main provider of care for those in need, poor people should be deterred from seeking help, and public assistance should be below the minimum wage (red). In the 19th century, Rescue organizations emerged to prevent child cruelty (red). These organizations were a voluntary effort with the task of investigating and bringing justice to child cruelty. • 13. Social Issues Business Brief The problem of state presence in socio–economic life has always been and will be the subject of heated discussions among economists, sociologists and political scientists. This issue is not only an ideological one, but also of significant importance for the state functioning. It is undisputable that the implementation of particular tasks by the state turns out indispensable for the functioning of society, however, in terms of market existence the underlying advantages, to be discussed below, are much less favorable. The state frequently builds obstacles preventing economic growth. In many cases state regulations raise company functioning costs, slow down decision–making processes and limit access to resources necessary for the production of goods and the provision of services. Finally, it is the consumer who suffers unfavorable effects of such regulations. One of the negative side–effects, in terms of the state interference in the social sphere, are administration costs covered by the state budget and spent on running and supporting federal agencies. Another negative factor takes the form of bureaucratic inclinations presented by clerks in creating regulations the objective of which is often lost among inadequate requirements, the maze of rules difficult to overcome for consumers and entrepreneurs in order to meet due requirements. Additionally, entrepreneurs themselves are trying to extend the scope of regulations by seeking ways to use them to their own advantage. • 16. Zammuto Social Issue I personally thought that Mrs. Zammuto's presentation was very interesting because it made me think a little deeper about what we had been learning in class. A lot of our class has been about social business and how a business can solve or alleviate a social issue better than just a charity because the business offers a sustainable, independent, and scalable way of fixing a problem. But businesses are really formed to solve problems, any problem whether it be social or not. So while a business for large construction equipment might be required to further progress of the human race, it does not explicitly solve a social issue. • 18. The Issue Of Social Media A limitation of this project stems from the limited study on this subject. The internet is a relatively new mission field and the internet presents unique challenges with limited case studies to evaluate. As a result, this evangelistic tool is confronted with much reluctance and concern. First, some argue that evangelism should be a face to face encounter and not from the internet. Inviting folks into this new dimension of ministry is very challenging. Additionally, because the Silent Generation and Baby Boomers are less likely to be active on social media, they are harder to convince that social media ministry is a good for the church. "One of the issues surrounding social media is the digital divide because of the lack of knowledge about computers and the lack of access to computers as well as high speed broadband (wifi)." This limits who you can reach with social media and actually creates a digital schism with economic and social barriers. Jane started as a governess, who fortunately was able to procure an inheritance that rose her to the same standing of Mr. Rochester. Emma, however does not move about in her social class, rather, she "helps" Jane and Harriet move about their class. Looking at Emma, Emma sees the Woodhouses and Knightleys as coequal, as the town's distinguished families. "Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence; and had lived nearly twenty–one years in the world with very little to distress or vex her (5)." The degree to which a state provides social services depends on many factors including state and federal budgets, current job opportunities, and cost of living. Take Texas, a state which is known for its low cost of living along with its low taxes. Yet, an article by the Burnt Orange Report contends that Texas is one of the states with the highest rates of poverty. (Cadik) Whether or not this claim is true is up for debate. The fact is Texas does face the issue of poverty just like the rest of the nation does. The state has chosen to address the issue by implementing two social programs designed to help those in need: the Temporary Assistance for Needy Familiesprogram, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. We 'll cover both of these programs in detail, but we 'll also be looking at the trade off involved in increasing funding for these social services and how they would affect low–income Texans. First up is the TANF program which is a federal effort to assist low –income families by providing cash welfare to eligible recipients. The goals of this federal program are to "(1) provide assistance to needy families so that children may be cared for in their own homes or in the homes of relatives; (2) end the dependence of needy parents on government benefits by promoting job preparation, work, and marriage; (3) prevent ... One of the most centers of ethical debate in Information Technology is social networks. Social networking has changed from a niche phenomenon to mass adoption. Although the concept of social networking was formulated in the 1960s, the advent of fast internet has sent the concept viral. Currently, social networks have been dogged with myriad ethical issues. Privacy issues are the epicenter of these ethical issues. Some of the ethical problems that have emanated from social networks include hacking, stalking, credit card theft, and social network identity theft. That is basically it, and obviously the absence of those characteristics could mean you are in a Middle or even in the Lower class. Sports are an activity that people do for pleasure that requires physical activity and sometimes has rules for the players to follow in order to play the game. It is most commonly played outdoors. It can improve your cardio, health, and physical condition. For example, it can prevent things like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer or even mental illnesses like depression. Your social status in America is defined by your income, Although that is not how it works all around the world. For example, in ancient Japan, a merchant (they win a lot of money depending on what they sale) were considered the lowest class because they didn't grow the commodities they sold. But a samurai was somewhere in the middle class because they were soldiers that followed the honor code. There are a great variety of sports all throughout the world, but the most popular worldwide are: Futbol, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Track, Bicycle, etc... One of the advantages of playing sports is that you get healthier as you play and have fun. Also you get more social skills, and so it could help fight depression or anxiety. Social Issues: Class Change Social Issue Class Change The social issue that the author of this report has decided to focus on touches on two of the enumerated types of social issues and problems that could be selected for this assignment, and that is social mobility and poverty. There seems to be much banter about how immensely difficult it is for people to break the mold of the class that they are raised in or that they enter in early adulthood. The author of this paper holds that people slide up and down the social and economic scale all the time. It is true that generational changes are usually not major and vast, but that is more a function of choice and inaction than it is doom or fate. Questions Answered As far as how this topic fits intosociology, the answer to this is quite clear. Poverty is a blight on any society and it has many detrimental effects to the community including the mid– to upper echelons of the social strata in a society. For example, people in poverty often feel destitute and desperate and this manifests quite often in the form of robberies, drug dealing and other means for people to elevate their status, their cash flow or even just to eat for that day. Sociologists, many of the conflict and feminist perspective, point out that there are strong and sometimes insurmountable barriers that trap people in poverty and this includes racism, cost of education, inability to access cost–effective birth control and sexism (CSUDH, 2013)(Stanford University, 2013). • 29. Social Movements : Political And Social Issues Michaela Gordillo GSC 300 November 12, 2015 Essay 3 Essay Social movements have been seen as large informal organizations that have put more attention on areas that dealt with political and social issues and in doing so started revolutions that were focused on making changes that were important to their societies. (Wiki) Two of the social movements that I have decided to focus on were in one way or another successful in their social movements were Iceland and Chile compared to the other nations that had revolutions and had not really succeeded. The reason that some social movements are more successful than others is that everyone within the community come together to unit in a common goal. They use whatever resources that are available to them, whether it be the media, Facebook, Twitter, or a grassroots effort of interaction with each individual person spreading what they hope to change. Everyone comes together to find a better solution to the problems that they want fixed and at times hope it is accepted by the government for more permanent change. Other reasons that social movements were successful was how the community went about implementing the change. Asocial movement can be as simple as protesting peacefully or at times it might have a violent with the intention of making the government and society hear what it is that you want them to change. The Iceland social movement, was a peaceful protest that started with one man Hordur Torfason on October 11, 2008 he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Social Policies And Welfare And Social Issues Social policies are public policies of which the government uses for welfare and social issues. Welfare, according to American Politics Today, is "the financial or other assistance provided to individuals by the government, usually based on need" (Bianco 448). These welfare programs play a role in citizen 's lives, especially those of low income. However, in some instances, they are there to help the wealthy as well, such as bailouts of the financial sector. As the textbook reads, "the persistence ofpoverty remains the primary motivator for most social policy today" (Bianco 450). The rapid growth of social policy is proving that the rate of income inequality in the United States is growing at a steady pace. For example, the income distribution "from 1979 to 2009 the average income of the top 1 percent grew by $700,000 to $1,220,100 (a 133 percent gain), compared to a $2,600 gain to $18,900 (16 percent) for the bottom fifth of the income levels. The wealth gap is even greater: the median networth of U.S. households in 2007 was $120,300, but the median wealth for the top 10 percent was $1.89 million, and this group held 73 percent of that nation 's wealth" (Bianco 450). The economy in America has an unequal wealth distribution where a small percentage of the population posses most of the wealth in the country, while the rest of the country has little to spare. I realize that the issue of poverty is a critical and very sensitive area because so many residents of low–income status are faced with reality of living in an unfortunate and rather disadvantaged financial situation. Those whom struggle with being effected by poverty are also faced with having limited availability to resources as well as power and a sense of security because of deprivation of privilege. From my current research I see that there is statistical data providing a quantitative Approach to understand just how concerning the continued growth of poverty is and how that has transformed America as a whole. There are also supportive theories to aid in the realization of how this social issue pulls out examples of oppression through the targeted populations that face poverty the greatest and hoe those groups are segregated from the more privileged groups within society. These are drivers, which perpetuate social injustice because they allow for transparency of a system that lacks structure and that promotes nonequivalence between each individual. At the governmental level, the issue of poverty has become more of a corporate social responsibility but one of the more growing concerns is that initiatives focused on addressing the issues regarding poverty are not properly put in place. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have now devolved and have their own laws and legislations on several issues. This essay will explore three contemporary issues in relation to social policy, whilst supporting these issues with legislation and economic context for each issue. The three issues that will be explored are: Welfare, Health and Pensions. Defining social policy, and understanding social policy becomes imperative, to enable understanding of the contemporary issues within it. Social policy was introduced in the early 19th Century, post war. At this time,William Beveridge introduced the idea of a Welfare State to address poverty. He released a report for social reform known as the 'five giants' within society: squalor, disease, ignorance, idleness and want. The welfare state brought many positive improvements in Britain and Government passed reforms to address the poverty levels, introducing "cradle to grave "support. The National Health Service was set up which gave free health care to all and laws and Acts were put in place to help the young, the old, the sick the unemployed and the working class in times of need.
