designed to carry light only directly down the fiber - the transverse mode.
Types of Single Mode fiber:
Non dispersion-shifted fiber (NDSF)
Dispersion-Shifted Fibers (DSF)
Non-Zero-Dispersion-shifted fibers (NZ-DSF)
