8. CONDITIONS OF USE FORM

Samsung Galaxy Tablet Conditions of Use
Students allocated a tablet for electronic clinical assessment data collection are
subject to the following conditions of use:
Apart from when the allocated ‘sign of mentor’ or mentor is inputting
assessment information into the device, tablets issued to individual students
must not be shared, used or accessed by anyone who is not recorded as the
‘owner’
The tablet access password and the additional My Progress access password
must never be divulged beyond the individual user. Strong passwords should be
used of at least 6 characters with a combination of letters, numbers and
symbols.
Passwords must be changed regularly and not written down. Any reference /
reminder is not to be held in the same location as the equipment .e.g. case.
At the end of each Academic year the user need to report to LIS support Hub
North to have the device re-allocated for the following year. Upon completion of
the course or before a period of intercalation or withdrawal from the midwifery
pre-registration programme UCLan students must return the tablet (removing
any user set passwords) to LIS services or Jacqui Gibson following which the
removal of all individual data from their device will be arranged.
Users of mobile computing equipment are responsible for its security at all times
and must ensure it is physically protected against loss, damage, abuse or
misuse when in use, storage or transit, for example:
o Equipment must not be left unattended unless it is in a secure location for
example in a lockable drawer or cabinet, within a locked office.
o When transporting the equipment in the car it should be stored out of site, i.e
the tablet should be placed in its case and stored in the locked boot.
Devices must not be left in a car over-night, they must be stored securely and
out of sight in the User’s home.
Whilst Users may be able to download or install software onto the tablet such
software must not be used to hold personal identifiable (relating to placement
NHS Trust patients / employees etc) or Placement Trust sensitive data unless
approved for use by the Trust.
Approved users must maintain the tablet in a good working condition. Misuse of
the equipment may lead to the user being liable for repair/replacement costs.
Can be use Online or Offline – no problem with trust firewalls that restricts use of blackboard/pebble pad
Not only provides evidence for students but can also help Mentors collate evidence for their appraisals-
Maintains a link with students provides Individual student support by Remote support but gives Timely feedback
Student can easily see their progress what they have completed what the still need to do
Mentors can easily see , check, monitor student progress etc
reduces paper storage requirements on completion of course
Evidence not lost – students submit all clinical evidence on line as they are done so CADS, PADS etc not lost – no delay in submission at end of a placement
