measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a
measurement scale.
Learning Objective:
TSW create a shopping list and meal plan given a specific budget and the food pyramid.
Task:
The students will create a week’s menu for at home dining using grocery store flyers and
the food pyramid. The students will have to plan healthy meals for a family of four for
one week. The students will be given a budget by the teacher and must create a grocery
list and correlating menu outlining the family meals for the week. The students will have
to create a mock receipt using the flyer and accurately show their total bill. The students
will have to give an estimate of approximately how much each meal will cost to make.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed on their success through the use of a rubric. Students will also
have to write a detailed paper explaining why they made the choices they did based on
price and aspects of the food pyramid.
