• Class/status
Social Groups
2. Class and Status
The way in which class and status is represented in my film is through
the use of mise-en-scene, both the male and female roles are wearing
clothing adequate to the middle/upper class. The male lead is wearing
a black and white suit, this is stereotypical of a businessman that
works within the inner city, it is also stereotypical clothing of a hit-
man, meaning that the lead male role could be a social representation
of males who live two different lives, one being public and one being
secretive, however not to the same extreme as Reece Savage. The
female lead is wearing black white and red, the black and white is also
a representation of the upper/middle class but the red adds a sense of
danger and a working class past, so the attire on this character could
be a social representation of the women that have come from a
working class background and have made it to higher and more
respected grounds.
3. Age
Both the male and female lead within the film are
in their early 20's, we have chosen this specific age
bracket as we feel the actions taken and the
emotions portrayed by both characters are a
perfect representation of modern society as a
whole. In addition to this both have a young and hip
look to them, meaning that a lot of the target
audience will be able to relate to them as one
segment of the audience we are targeting are the
young and hip.
4. Feminism
• We feel as if the female character within our film is an ideal
and perfect representation of a strong modern feminist.
She is portrayed as a strong, independent and attractive
woman who has taken up the role of an assassin, this
challenges societies conventions as most people think of
men in relation to assassins. We feel that by importing a
female as an assassin we are not only challenging
conventions but we are expanding our target audience to
the female gender as equality is shown within the film. Also
the female lead throws a rose on Smith once he has been
killed, a rose is seen as symbolism to feminism. However
there are segments from the film that show that the male
role is still dominant, for instance the male is both the
driver and the killer.
