represent particular social groups?

Question 2
2. C.R.A.G.S
• My media production represents the
following: (relating to social groups)
• C – Class
• R – Race
• A – Age
• G – Gender
• S – Social Statues
3. Social Statuses.
A – upper middle class
B – middle class
C1 – lower middle class
C2 – skilled working class
D –working class
E – non working
Our characters social statues is ‘B’
due to the clothes they are
wearing as well as the formality of
the language spoke through the
duration of the film.
4. RACE
• The protagonist is mixed race, gives a slight twist to
the stereotype of the western always being the hero
in this case its not . Three of the other characters are
white ,and one of the males is of mixed ethnic origin
too. This way we have included more than just typical
expectations of what people think is found in a small
British film.
5. Age
• The age of people who would view my production would be aged 15-23,
24% of moviegoers.
• The protagonist in our production is a similar age, our actor is 17, however
the character we believe is slightly younger to give the expression that he
is connoted with being innocent making it more sensitive to view to the
viewer do to the feeling of sympathy for the main actor ‘Royce’
• My production supports the stereotype that young people are very
curious and will often get themselves into trouble through curiosity.
6. Gender
- In my production I represented males in a
more modern way, as a female was featured
in my production.
- I confirm the common representation that
men are powerful. In my opening sequence I
portray the male protagonist to have power,
whilst in the flashback shots he in danger
giving a slight oxymoron of the though of
males being strong and yet cant escape his
own dream.
- The ratio of males to females in our film is 6:1 this isn't very
ideal to us personally as to the fact that it may make us seem
sexist in a certain perspective, however due to present time and
a lack of volunteers we didn’t have enough women to play in the
film. This would be a key point to highlight if we had the chance
to re do the filmi would prefer the ratio of male to female be
4:3.
7. Sexuality
• The sexuality I portrayed in my production is heterosexual, as
this is traditional.
• This can be seen through the masculine protagonist.
• This confirms the stereotype that men are seen as masculine.
