rescue its author, Jean Rhys, from the obscurity into which
she had fallen.
Explores the complex relations between;
white and black.
West Indians
Old slaveholding West Indian families
The new English settlers in the post-emancipation
Caribbean.
3. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The black people have been treated imperfectly by the
white people and considered as slaves and substandard
to the white.
Racial studies 0f African literature can help to reveal
the quest for African identity.
4. RESEARCH QUESTIONS
1. What are the reasons, Black people were maltreated
by the White people with reference to Wide Sargasso
Sea ?
2. How black people strived to get their rights and
identity with reference to Wide Sargasso Sea ?
5. METHODOLOGY
The research is qualitative and interpretive
A complete text of Novel will be analyzed to trace the
racial violence present in the novel
The previous researches and work will be considered
for the better understanding of the suffering of Black
People in the Novel.
