This document outlines the requirements for a monthly current event report assignment. Students must find a news article of at least one page length from a magazine, newspaper, or approved website about the region currently being studied in class or a previously discussed region. The article must contain information about culture, religion, war, history, government, or politics. Students must write a multi-paragraph analysis of the article, including a summary and discussion of its relevance to social studies. The report must include key details about the article such as its title, source, URL, date, and author. Reports are due on the 1st and 15th of each month.

1. Monthly Current Event Report (40 point s)
Magazine (not a tabloid), Newspaper, or from one of these websites: CNN,
Huffington Post , BBC.
Find a news art icle about the region we are current ly covering, or a previous
region that was already discussed in class. The art icle must have informat ion
about culture, religion, war, history, government , or polit ics. The art icle must be
at least a page in length (short art icles need not apply).
In addit ion to the art icle it self, you must also include a detailed writ ing in a few
paragraphs (no less than 6 sentences each). Requirement s are below:
 1 paragraph describing the art icle in your own words. Give important
informat ion. Tell the who, what , where, when, how.
 1 paragraph explaining the art icle, it s connect ion to social studies, and
why you selected it . Tell me your thoughts here.
You will need to provide the following informat ion about the art icle as well
(failure to do this part will result in redo):

Current events are due on the 1st and 15th of every month.
