This document provides instructions for a current events assignment. Students are asked to choose a news article from sources like Time For Kids, The Oregonian, or links on the teacher's website. They should record the headline, source and date of the article. Students then write a 3 to 5 sentence summary and a 5 sentence evaluation of how the event impacts their community or society. The completed assignment requires stapling the article and presenting it to the class.

that gives a brief but descriptive summary of the article. (15 points)
4. Write a paragraph (5+ well written, correctly punctuated sentences) in
which you evaluate how you feel the current event you chose impacts our
community/society (15 points)
5. Article neatly cut out of the newspaper or printed offline and neatly
stapled to the back of your paper (5 points)
6. Present your article to the class: What is it about? Why is it important?
Where did you find it? Why did you chose it? (10 points)
