Are you looking to move to the cloud, but aren’t sure quite where to start? Are you already using AWS, and are looking for ways to simplify some of your workflows? If you answered “yes” (or even “maybe”) to either one of those questions, this session / hands-on workshop is for you. We’re going to take you through using Amazon Lightsail, an AWS service that provides the quickest way to get started in the cloud, to deploy and scale an application on AWS.

AWS offers a number of services that help you easily deploy and run applications in the cloud. Come to this session to learn how to choose among these options. Through interactive demonstrations, this session will show you how to get an application running using AWS OpsWorks and AWS Elastic Beanstalk application management services. You will also learn how to use AWS CloudFormation templates to document, version control, and share your application configuration. This session will cover topics like application updates, customization, and working with resources such as load balancers and databases. This session is recommended for people who understand AWS and want to know more about deployment options for their applications.

Asp.NET Core is a cross-platform, high-performance, open-source framework for building modern, cloud-based, Internet-connected applications. With asp.NET Core, you can: Build web apps and services, IoT apps, and mobile backends; Use your favorite development tools on Windows, macOS, and Linux; Deploy to the cloud or on-premises; Run on .NET Core or .NET Framework. Millions of developers have used (and continue to use) asp.NET 4.x to create web apps. In this presentation we are going to talk about real time apps using these technology. Asp.NET Core

Do you have a great knowledge about C#? Maybe you’ve already built a great mobile app on Windows Phone or Windows 8 or even Windows 10? Would you like to be able to use your knowledge to build an Android app without having to resort to other languages or IDEs? This is possible using Xamarin! In this session, Gill Cleeren will take you through the creation of your first Android application: Joe’s Coffee Store. Along the way, you will learn the basic concepts of Android such as Activities and see how we can use these from Xamarin.Android. We’ll need to connect with services to get access to data and we’ll learn how to navigate in the app. You’ll see we can do this all of this directly from Visual Studio. We will finish the session by looking at how we can deploy the application to the Google Play Store so it’s ready for our users! You’ll walk away wanting to port your code to Android!

The container land has been heavily influenced by Docker. After all, the huge ecosystem building Docker images and tools is hard to ignore. Docker, defines images as lists of layers. This helps container engines cache reused layers and avoid re-downloading the whole root filesystem when minor changes get pushed. The, fairly new, OCI image spec is adopting the same approach in standardising the image format. However, layers can be chanky in size and hard to manage. Additionally, it would be better to increase the caching granularity to single files (say /bin/bash) instead of large layers. Physicists in the LHC computing GRID had a similar problem. They solced it with CernVM-FS. This talk explores the idea of using it for container image distribution. George Lestaris is a software engineer working at Pivotal in the Garden team, the container runtime of Cloud Foundry (CF). Before Pivotal, he spent time with high throughput computing on the LHC computing grid and cloud computing research in CERN. He has given talks before in CHEP 2013 regarding virtual clusters and their use in high-energy physics, in PyCon UK 2015 on interactive cloud experimentation and in the CF summit Santa Clara 2016 on containers in CF. -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7dJCMh20iE

Summary: Neuro-cognitive and degenerative (CNS) diseases, with Alzheimer’s leading, are among the most intractable and costly and distressing diseases. Without effective therapies with minimal side effects, these diseases will break the healthcare systems, patients and caregivers. Current therapies are inadequate and so many standard pharmaceutical responses have failed in late stage trials. Only the most innovative solutions will yield effective therapies. Israel, with its history & culture of scientific innovative innovation, government support & early recognition of the challenges of CNS, is poised to be a leader in effective CNS therapies. The next version of ASP.NET is more than just a minor upgrade. The surface may seem familiar, but the underlying framework represents nothing less than a paradigm shift. Rewritten from scratch to support modern tooling and guidelines, ASP.NET MVC 6 can run just about everywhere and has a ton of features designed to support SPAs, including Angular apps. This presentation, which was given at the AngularJS-IL Meetup, introduces ASP.NET 5 and MVC 6 and focuses on features that benefit Angular apps. http://www.meetup.com/AngularJS-IL/events/223123549/

Frameworks are large prewritten code to which you add your own code to solve a problem in a specific domain. You make use of a framework by calling its methods, inheritance, and supplying “call-backs” listeners. Spring is the most popular application development framework for enterprise Java™. Millions of developers use Spring to create high performing, easily testable, reusable code without any lock-in.

The Origins of iamnobody89757 The origins of iamnobody89757 are shrouded in the virtual mists of the wide internet. The term gained popularity on a niche discussion group that examined the most puzzling puzzles on the internet. In this instance, iamnobody89757 surfaced as a mysterious character who captivated other users with a conversation that was both mysterious and perceptive. These initial interactions were nuanced, filled with veiled references and subtle hints that painted a picture of someone—or something—with an intricate understanding of the digital domain’s darker corners. This our Twelfth semiannual report on the global Cryptocurrency mining industry. Bitcoin is the world’s largest special purpose supercomputer. And it is globally decentralized. Millions of nodes all run the same open-source code to secure the Bitcoin network, create value, and put new transactions onto the distributed ledger. The latest Top500 list has just been announced at the ISC 2024 conference in Hamburg, and once again the Frontier supercomputer with 1.2 Exaflops peak performance is number one on the list. If assigned to SHA-256 hashing, Frontier would provide only the equivalent hash rate of about three cabinets of the latest high-end Bitcoin mining systems, costing less than 0.1% of Frontier’s cost. Michael Saylor, Chairman of MicroStrategy, has pointed out that GPUs are two orders of magnitude slower than the 5-nanometer technology of custom ASICs used for Bitcoin mining today. He makes the point that the Bitcoin network is unassailable by all of the hyperscale computing resources combined in AWS, Google, and Microsoft Azure cloud data centers today.

Generative AI refers to a class of machine learning algorithms that are designed to generate new data samples that are similar to those in the training data. Unlike traditional AI models that are trained to recognize patterns and make predictions, generative AI models have the ability to create entirely new data based on the patterns they have learned. This is achieved through techniques such as generative adversarial networks (GANs), variational autoencoders (VAEs), and transformer architectures, among others.
