One of the biggest reasons why MICE events have gained so much po
pularity in businesses all over the world is that it keeps the employees
happy and satisfied. Over the years there have been many techniques
which have been used by the employers to boost the performance of th
e employees. Incentives in many forms have come and gone. However
, incentives in the shape of MICE events have proven to be a greater s
uccess than most others. The meetings conducted in luxurious location

1. INTRODUCTION
The events industry in general has undergone
unprecedented growth in the recent past two decade. This
process of industry maturity has lead to government
recognising the contribution of special events to the
economy (Getz, 2002). Events and meetings around the
globe are recognised as being lucrative and fast growing
areas of the tourism industry. Whilst, it is difficult to
determine the exact number of events and meetings that
take place every year, it is recognised that events and
meetings make a major economic contribution to a
destinations employment and income (Dwyer, 2002). As a
result, this sector has received much attention from the
private and public sector in the last twenty years.

MICE event stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibiti
ons, which generated high foreign exchange revenue worldwide. MICE
attendees are recognized as ‘quality’ attendees, mainly because of their
high-spending potential. And also, it increased employment outcomes f
rom hosting these events (Lau, Milne & Johnston, 2005; Johnson, Foo
& O'Halloran, 1999). As part of the tourism industry, MICE (also kno
wn as ‘business events’) increasingly generate huge amounts of revenu
e worldwide (Hing, McCabe, Lewis, & Leiper, 1998; Mistilis & Dwyer
, 1999). Asia has been one of the front-runners in taking advantage of t
his interest from the traditional markets such as Europe and North Ame
rica where Malaysia, in particular, has been no exception

3. DATA COLLECTION
Before the two-round of Delphi survey can be carried out, a pilot study
was conducted as a pre-testing process of questionnaire set which involv

ment industry. This is to rectify any flaws regarding the questionnaire, w
hich will be used in the actual survey for determining the Critical Succes

which the factors were extracted from articles of
the past research works on event management issues. The pilot study wa

Implication of Event-
The implications of best practice event management when
applied to small-scale local events.
1) Social impacts.
2) Political impacts.
Events are powerful platforms and when planned well, they can
have lasting positive impacts. I’ve spoken before about the
economic impacts of events, and of course, well-managed,
ticketed events always have the capacity to be profitable.
However, events have the power to do so much more than to
generate profits. Often, events are planned and produced with
the sole objective of delivering social impacts for the local area in
which they are held.

Pre & Post Event Activities–
If practical, Roger will always try to meet with you well ahead of
your event to fully acquaint himself with your requirements and objectives
and to ensure that he tailors his program to match
your needs and those of your delegates.
He is frequently asked to engage in media interviews ahead of the event
TV, radio and print - and is very happy to do so.
If required, he will produce a simple promotional video for the event which,
usually placed on YouTube, is available for you to use as promotional
material. With your prior agreement that video would encourage delegates
to contact him ahead of the event to suggest subject areas they would like
covered.
All these activities are included in the event fee .
Post the event Roger is often asked to follow up the learning with delegates
and this can be done in a number of ways to be agreed with you.
Roger is available to assist organizations with the implementation of their
“Staying in the Helicopter®” strategic growth and other programmers on a
consultancy basis.
