Hello my name is Maria Madrigal andwelcome to my Technical Communications capstone portfolio for TWC490 course at Arizona State University.
Thank you for taking the time to review my portfolio. After a very long hold on my education, I am a few months away from earning a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications from Arizona State University. This program has significantly improved my technical communication skills, which has enhanced my performance in my currentposition. The program has helped improve my confidence to take on more challenging projects. In this presentation I have organized four artifacts that demonstrate how I gained the program outcomes from the coursework I completed during the last two years.
To complete the undergraduate degree in Technical Communications Program, I had to demonstrate that I met the required program Outcomes. The program requires that students proved they achieved excellency in the following four areas:Critical Thinking, Reading, and Writing skills help student…Processes, and Knowledge of Conventions. I will present fourartifacts of my project coursework with evidence that I have met the required program outcomes. The artifacts I will completedare, a Virtual Presentation from TWC301 course, a Grant Proposal from TWC401 course, Brochure from TWC411 course, and a Technology Article for TWC421 course. I will demonstrate in my projects how I achieved the program outcome.

I completed a virtual presentation that I posted on Wordpress.com. I was tasked to create this project in TWC301 - General Principles of Multimedia Writing course. This assignment required me to learn about virtual presentation. I looked at numerous presentation on TED.com and WordPress. During the processKnowledge of Conventions This helped me understand what was needed to post presentationCritical Thinking, Reading, and WritingThis project required me to do a lot of planning that allowed me share some of the processes I learned. I had to create a presentation that was targeted to students that may use PSA stands for Problem Solving Approchprocess to solve problems. I reviewed the material I was going present and from that started creating my dialogue. Based on my initial script, I used images that releated to the data I was presenting. I made sure to orgonize my document with my introduction, body & and conclusion. The visuals I selected targeted my intended audience and were consisten with dialogue. I did a few run throughs of presentation before I asked for feedback from friends. Asked for them to be extra critical to make sure that I did not miss anything and that the presenatation was usable.
I had to research numerous proposals to complete a grant proposal for my project in TWC401 - Principles of Technical Communication. This project required me to take rhetorical knowledge to ensure a solid small business proposal would win a grant for my company. I used a template with leading header. My introduction included the company's objective clearly listing what would do and how it would benefit from grant funding. Next I stated current business condition taking facts from USA labor department and problem we were trying to address by targeting unemployment. I then declared our project plan. The plan detailed that company would provided a facility with volunteers and the training provided for those needed. I detailed how the money would be used. I defined the qualifications next, followed, by cost, and benefits. I then wrote the conclusion restating how grant money would benefit individuals that would be trained by professional, ending it with courteous closing that would catch my state objective from my introduction.
In my TWC411 - Visual Communication course I was tasked to create a brochure using adobe, I integrated a colorful logo with basic numbers, letters, and shapes that every child starts learning with. I have chosen vibrant colors that will make the brochure catch the attention of children and parents. To complete brochure, I had to use adobe publisher. I had to take a tutorial since I had never used it before. This turned out to be the best software to use. I had to work on the layout that would fit the specifications required for a brochure. I reformatted many of my images and the logo, so that they were visually attractive.
Techonology article on how technolgy impact's today's society. In this article I had to do research and identify a problem statement. Had to use examples for my problem statement. Reviewed a lot of material on the different sites and how it affects our society. The importance of understanding the source and how that impacts everyone. I did an initial proposal on my planned report that required approval. In my proposal I defined my problem statement, background giving story on technology an dhow we interact with it daily. I provided details on audience analysis and Research. My process included an initial draft that contained the research I had used. I posted and asked for peer feedback to improve final document.
The four artifacts I have introduced in my capstone portfolio are just a few of the projects that I completed during my term at Arizona State University. They demonstrate that I have met program outcomes for Technical Communications.
