By the end of this workshop the student will be able to:
• Identify and describe the main functions of a relational database.
• Explain the main concepts associated with a Microsoft Access (MS Access, or simply
Access) database, such as items or records, attributes or fields, tables, primary key,
forms, and queries among others.
• Explain the similarities and differences in the usage of an Excel worksheet and an
Access database.
• Use hyperlinks in MS Office documents to access web pages, other stored
documents, specific places in the same document, and e-mail addresses.
• Define what are “macros” in MS Office programs and explain their use

• Read and interpret technical texts related to the contents of this
Workshop.
• Write short essays in English or Spanish to answer specific
questions related to the contents of this Workshop.
• Participate in oral class discussions held in English or Spanish.
• Enhance your vocabulary with not less than ten technical terms
